There's no "OO" sound in that part of the name. It's more "coo HUHL in", but because a bunch of English speakers who couldn't pronounce the name right due to its spelling wanted to popularize him as a character, they changed the spelling and pronounced it "cuh HOOL in". since they were too lazy to get their facts straight and pronounciations right.

Michio Kaku (who graduated first in his Harvard physics class, received his doctorate from Berkeley, and taught at Princeton) addresses perpetual motion machines in chapter 14 of his excellent book Physics of the Impossible. In his book, Kaku breaks down "impossible" into three classes (summarized below):

Class 1 impossibility - impossible today but do not violate known laws of physics
Class 2 impossibility - technologies that sit at the edge of our understanding. If possible, they may be realized thousands or millions of years in the future
Class 3 impossibility - technologies that violate the known laws of physics. If possible, these technologies would represent a shift in our understanding of physics


Kaku labels perpetual motion a Class 3 impossibility (teleportation and telepathy are Class 1, time machines are a Class 2). He states in the closing of chapter 14 on perpetual motion:

Because creating a true perpetual motion machine may require us to reevaluate the fundamental laws of physics on a cosmological scale, I would rank perpetual motion machines as a Class III impossibility; that is, either they are truly impossible, or we would need to fundamentally change our understanding of fundamental physics on a cosmological scale in order to make such a machine possible. actually it the reverse, most people mistaken the stop time's nature as anime power to only temporarily stop the time, but time stop is much scarier than that since the speed of timeflow would reach 0 and therefore pause physics, as time is governing physics. i.e all type of physics lost it meaning the moment time is stopped, even the peperptual motion engine. And if someone can move within the stop area, that person can effectively screw the law of physics however he wants. There is also the the problem with the method of time stop as well.

I'm fairly certain making a planet run on gears is also impossible, as is time manipulation.

To give a listing, the chapters go:

Chapter 1.
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Interlude

I just did that Interlude because it's short, but it skips through...170 pages of text.

Chapter 3 is 90 pages long, longer than the Chapter 2 that was 69 pages long.
Chapter 4 is 80 pages long, but the good news is that 15 pages are copied directly from volume 1 prologue (and there's a lot less technical stuff to translate)

At the rate I'm translating chapter 3, I might have to put on the Donna Donna BGM.

Well, volume 2 should be done by the end of the month.

Thanks for the explanation. I really love this series and was confused trying to figure out how the Interlude fell into the story. First thought maybe a flashback but mention of Anchor had me confused.
