At one point, there was a rumor that this will actually be a movie series instead of a TV series.

Either that, or they're treating Build Fighters like it's an SD series and Reconguista will be the main series.

That would suck if it is just a movie, it would be F91 all over again and so close to the Gundam origin movie

I don't think Tomino would be happy if his new Gundam work got the F91 treatment in place of a new season of a more merchandise-driven Gundam show. If I recall correctly, his opinion of Build Fighters isn't very high

Maybe because it's hard to kill people with plastic models. After all, it's not a children's card game.

You know, people said that Tomino didn't have a high opinion of SEED, either, but I've yet to find any proof of such statements.

Wait, what? Where did you see that? The official site says its airing on MBS but it doesn't say it airs on late nights.

Looks like the first 3 eps will premiere in movie theaters in August too so they're trying to get this show known.

I'm not surprised by the timeslot though. Did anyone actually think that Sunrise would target a Tomino-made Gundam show to children? Wasn't happening this day and age. Build Fighters is filling that niche just fine. Tomino always says his shows are aimed at children but I don't think he makes the decisions these days.

But Tomino's right about one thing... This is a Gundam show in name only. The whole backstory with space pirates and stuff seems un-Gundam-like. Plus the main mecha isn't even a Gundam (its a "G-Self")

i think the letter "G" means Gundam, as in like G-Savior , so its means like "Gundam Self"? unless they go the 00 Raiser/00 Quanta route,

& Gundam SEED Destiny made fun of "Gundam Savior" in the form of Athrun's throwaway red Gundam..........

Reading the plot for G Reconquista... I think this is the first time we see the main "Gundam" (in this case the G-Self) be the subject of a reverse Gundamjack, i.e. the antagonists had the Gundam, and the protagonist somehow takes it.
