If you paid attention in this episode you would know.

While Scarlet's form was dispersed, and she was certainly drained by the incident, that demon wasn't powerful enough to truly kill a spirit of her level. Claire didn't realize that, mostly due to the shock of seeing Scarlet eaten by the demon triggered her trauma of having everyone she loves taken away from her.

Apparently Contracted Spirits don't "die", but merely "temporarily lose their power", so Scarlet was never dead, but was just unable to be called upon for a time, or something...which you'd think Claire and others would've learned in class...

Scarlet never died in Ep. 3, she just lost the ability to manifest for awhile.

No, spirits can be killed. If they take an overwhelming amount of damage their forms can be completely obliterated. Most of the time, however, a spirit that has been hurt too badly will simply disappear until it recovers. Generally speaking it's not all that easy to permanently kill a spirit.

All this contract talks keeps on reminding me of Tokyo Ravens, and I'm not sure if it made this series look dumber , or giving more optimism on the quality of the later arcs, or sad that this series will only be 1-cour. Such mixed feelings

Regarding humanoid contracted spirits, does it need an incantation first before sealing it with a kiss 'cause Claire didn't turn Kamito into one? Also, can an Elementalist become a contracted spirit?

To my knowledge it's impossible for a human to actually be a spirit: they're fundamentally different creatures. Claire's just being stubborn at first in refusing to give up on Est, and later she's just being tsundere.

She can't actually do that, no one can. Claire has severe abandonment issues (for good reason but I'll let you find out for yourself) so she is calling him a "slave spirit" since that way he "can't" leave her behind.

There is more to her abandonment issues then just her sister being a traitor and the people around her turning on her because of it?

Well, sort of. You kind of summed it up, but the extent of what she went through was much worse than just "turned on her." You'd have to go over to the novel thread for more, but think Hitler's sister living in Israel.

You've only really been exposed to a small bit of what that actually means. She had a full family before her sister did what she did. Now all she has is Scarlet. There is no one else left. Those people in her flashback who were being hauled away in chains: those were her parents.

You forgot someone there: Rinslet. Scarlet is the reason Claire is still sane. Rinslet is the reason she physically survived.

Rinslet defines the Mama Bear trope.

Yes, but Claire doesn't recognize Rinslet as being there for her. Rinslet's been protecting Claire, but she's unable to be honest when talking to Claire, so Claire doesn't recognize her as someone close, and still feels abandoned.
