"Bad" dub? You might as well call the JP track a hackjob, too since they're the same quality in their language context.
What's more impressive is that it's a pre-lay job, which is unheard of. Doing it post-lay like most localization games/anime is like running a marathon with leaded shoes after a 18-hour food deficit unless you "cheat" with games like Persona which have no lip-flap for the most part. Out of the cast, Sazzy is my most surprised character. I had a bad expectation with how they're going to do a black main character (Oh god, poor Barret) but the accent suits him. Then again, accents are the norm and Lightning/Snow are the freaks >_> |

"Persona 4 is pretty much a school life visual novel with Pokemon and cliche dungeon crawling from games like Dark Cloud. Also, there's only 1 town, so it's not a true rpg." is an example of me calling a perfectly good game a rip off of other game types.

Anyhow, I'm into chapter 4 right now. I finally have enough skills for more variations and monsters are getting a bit tougher. Hoping it gets even better.

That's my main complaint too
I'm not very far into the game but I think the english dub is pretty good. Of course, the fact I don't really go out of my way to compare both probably helps. I'm really liking the game so far. Graphics are very good, the CGI scenes in particular look AMAZING. Combat seems a lot more nervous than in previous games, I can see split seconds mistakes be fatal later on. I enjoy the characters a lot too, even Hope doesn't bother me that, I guess I'm used to his character type, seen it so much in anime...

played the game finally yesterday at my friends house. it seemed pretty solid. though i don't know how much i'd enjoy running around that enemy base as Hope with Lightning. (~7 hours in?)
i'll probably get it durning the summer. when i get some more free time. though currently, my queue of games to play is rather large.

i don't know uf that happened before but if it did that would probably be their first and who knows it might even make a huge impact just like ff7 back then when they first introduce CGI animation in the PS which was a worldwide phenomenon i guess...

I just don't see why they'd release a DLC just for subtitles. Seems pretty pointless. Makes more sense to release a DLC for the original Japanese dub for us, because that has happened before.
Still i can't see it happening.

Same here. I'm 14 hours into it now, and finding myself rather attached to this cast and the story they're all involved in. It's thanks to the good voice work that i can feel that way at this point in time, compared to rather painful dubs that have appeared in games over the many years. Though this is Final Fantasy, and the money is always well spent in that department.

Indeed, the score for FFXIII is composed by Masashi Hamauzu, and while i have missed having a new Nobuo score for sometime now, Hamauzu has given us such a treat with his work for the game. I'm adoring the score so far, with each piece fitting so perfectly with it's themed surroundings. It's also nice to hear a mix of orchestral and electronic for the series. Brings in a nice touch.
