I am not to sure but on Gatoh blog there is a message saying that the start of the publication of the next novel has been pushed to the first semester of 2008.

meaning that publication as in the release as a whole? or the release per chapter in Dragon?

Nope. What he said is that he apologize to all that he initially want to release the last novel in First Half (of 2008?) but now due to his trouble of thinking about how the story should go, it seems impossible to do so.

Duh.

Actually I think he's talking about the first half of 2007 here, with no date given for just when the novel will actually resume.

Here are Google and Bablefish translations:

I also ran the reply comments through both translators and that was a bit of a help. At this point, the way I'm reading this is Gatoh had hoped during the first half of 2007 that the novel would be ready but he hasn't been able to finish it up. Now just why the book seems to delayed is the part that isn't translating worth a hoot . However, it seems from the reply posts he's either stalled; has more to story to write than he was expecting; got writers block; had something come up in real life that made getting the book ready to make deadline impossible; a combination of one or more of these things. Whatever the problem is, the reply posts are mostly telling him that the delay is OK because if it means he needs to take more time writing a better story, it should be a good thing in the end.

Now what I want to know is just what is actually going to show up in Dragon. I understand that while the magazine has been waiting for the last novel they've been running some sort of side stories from the characters but those haven't been reported on because they were rather random (I think they were essays from the characters, including one which was Kaname's discussing a favorite recipe). Is Gatoh going to continue these or do something else while he finishes up the book?

^Possibly continues.
Last month we got Tessa talking about (something related to personal makeup, forget the proper word) but since they're too professionaly written, I can't even get a clue for translating.:/

Well i guess we just have to wait then. Shame really considering that the english translation will be done by 2011 seems like there wont be that big a gap in between that and the release of the final novel

To my knowledge, not all of the novels have been translated. Boku-tachi was translating some of the novels (pretty much picking up where the first FMP series ended and continuing on) but they stopped once Tokyopop announced that they'd be releasing them in English. Then, Ravyn was picking up where Boku-tachi left off, but I guess is making slow progress. I do believe that Boku-tachi is no longer hosting the novels that they had translated.

Everyone here's pretty much living off of HunterSeeker's awesome summaries. Maybe someone else might have some idea as to where you can get the books that have been translated.

ETA: Here's Boku-Tachi if you want to check out a little info about which novels are which; I don't have a link to Ravyn presently. I'm sure someone else does.

Local Bookstore Pre-order ftw!

@Raikwolf
And for the translated novels, Besides Boku-Tachi(But as Whispered said they stopped) and Ravyn I don't know anyone else that translates them.

http://ravyn-09.livejournal.com/

Thats the link to Ravyn's site, he is currently translating BOMF(Burning One Man Force). Which is the 17th Volume, but 8th in the main plot. I believe he took a break until the 25th of Aug, but should be starting up again.

Since Tokyopop licensed them they'll be coming to the states, but it won't be finished until 2011(I believe). So for all of us non-japanese readers, hopefully someone will find it in there heart to translate the rest! We'll also worship you if you do!

Hope that helped!

I contemplated ordering them from Amazon.co.jp, and beginning the translation process. But I've got less than a professional grasp on Japanese, and it's been my experience that translating consumes a considerable amount of time and energy that I just don't have to spare.

Waiting until 2011 is going to suck, though.

The official release date is Tue., Sept. 11 -- but some retailers are not careful and put items on the shelf the week before they're supposed to, so you may get lucky if you pop into one of those places this week.
