Also on the subject of spoilers... for some reason i find it difficult to believe there are some people who havent yet been spoilered to death in this fandom. If you seek any kind of SnK information, whether its text or pics, you'll end up spoilered. |

Speaking of his titan form design, the only thing I didn't quite like in the anime was the red muscle crack thing (when it looked he was being scanned). I didn't really see the point in them doing that. I hope that won't happen every single time he punches something in his titan form. I'm just nitpicking though. Quote:

He didn't even make a prediction or exposed a theory so he won't really have anything relevant to boast about, if you think that's his purpose. Let's not forget that in the manga thread a lot of speculations were made and they turned to be true. At least half of us understood that the abnormal titan was Eren in a way or the other and people were talking about how the female titan was Annie long time before the confirmation. It's not a spoiler as long as it's just a speculation, do not jump on your guns if someone happens to predict correctly what's going to happen in the next episodes.

After spoiling myself to death (happens when you go to wikipedia to try and find out what this series is all about and why is there so much hype), I marathon'd (?) up to the current anime episode and manga chapter (let me tell you, I now have a hard time waiting for the next one D:!!!!!)
Anyway I wanted to see your theories about how Ymir was the deviant titan that ambushed Reiner and Bertholdt and if it really happened (given how much they twist the truth), how many years ago do you think it did? I'm thinking it should be more than 5 years since at that time I think they could've easily killed her (I still see her as a him -__-U) in their titan forms Or perhaps was a little before joining the training squad?

About why reiner and bert didnt transform in their fight against ymir.. I guess their titan powers had yet to be awakened at that point. Surely they could have beaten ymir to a pulp if they had transformed so im guessing they couldnt.
Its difficult to say anything about their age but maybe um.. they were about 10 year olds or so in that fight? Oh and i have mentioned it before but i think ymir was crazed/berserk in that situation. Normally titan shifters dont eat humans so she obviously wasnt herself. I have been reading alot of theories lately about whats actually going on in the series and i think Reiner and Bert are not the bad guys. The king and the aristocrats probably did something outrageous in the past... perhaps it was them who caused people to start turning into titans. Like if they created somekind of an illness. The titan village probably sent child soldiers (like reiner, bert and annie) to infiltrate the city and destroy the enemy. |

Unless Reiner lied or was being deceptive when he said they won't attack the human settlement if he goes with them, I'm more inclined to think they attacked out of some kind of necessity. Necessity that no longer exist if they have Eren. One theory that I have is that Reiner and Berthold are part of a group of people that once were humans but then started becoming titans, pretty much like what happened in Connie's village. The vast majority probably doesn't have a good control over the titan forms so Reiner and Berthold were the only ones who could fight. It is possible that they need something to survive or to keep their humanity least they'll end all up becoming mindless human eating monsters. And of course those people in the inner city know what titan ares and probably still protect technologies to create and control them (as the walls suggest). In that case perhaps Eren is a special titan who possesses some kind of quality that can save Reiner's and Berthold's people. Or perhaps Eren is the only one who can completely unveil the secrets in Grisha's basement. In any case I doubt I'll end up thinking that Reiner and friends are good guys. In the best case they decided to cause the death of hundred of thousand innocents to save their own folk (which are probably a lot less in number).

Another thing I have mentally prepared myself for (just in case) is that when we get a view of the outside world it'll actually be ruins of buildings from our present time (given the title of the first chapter, kinda forshadowing what could happen if we're not careful??)
...reminded me of that movie I never saw (only read the ending...man do I spoil myself in everything -__-U) about a village that lives as pilgrims (? my english is not working well atm) and at the end when they protagonist get out we see it's actually in our time...

I was rereading the latest chapter of manga, now I'm more confident about my theory that "Titan needs sunlight to operate"
here's my theory before Quote:
now I'm pretty sure Annie didn't follow Eren, Mikasa and Armin to the underground not only because she was scared of harsh interrogation but because she knew she won't be able to transform into Titan if things go south btw were this fact (Titan needs sunlight to operate) mentioned in the manga before? I might miss it what I remember was Father from chapter 34 went crazy when there were a hole in the wall and asked it to be covered before sunlight hits the titan

I think Reiner and Bertholdt are just waiting so when they are moving around in their titan form they won't be attack by the regular titans. If they couldn't transform and move at nighttime as a titan, Yimr could easily defeat them, because she can. |

Unfortunately it doesn't matter how many other hints that titans need sunlight we get, we still have many other facts and hints that titans can still operate and transform without sunlight.
The only thing that I can think of is that the body somehow can store sunlight as a reserve and still run with it for a while. Supposedly that power will eventually deplete and the titan will require more sunlight to function again. There's the problem that we see Eren transforming twice without direct sunlight and it is heavily hinted that Ymir transformed in the middle of the night during that flashback with Christa. That would imply that even the human body can have such energy reserve. That should be true even for Annie, Reiner and Berthold unless it's a special ability of Eren and Ymir. In the end we need more clarifications.

In fact, they already answered this question here, thanks to Hanji's experiments ...
Their vitality varies from one titan to the other. I guess every titans needs sunlight at one point, but some can stay active longer than others. Last edited by CrowKenobi; 2013-05-23 at 22:02. Reason: Don't link to scan sites. And remember, this title is LICENSED. |
