Lol @ tags.
But yea... FML. Maybe I can hope the 2nd cour shows the chars all grown up or something. Or the best thong I can cross my fingers in that there isn't another Hanasaku iroha ep 3 which made me throw my keyboard at the screen. Regardless such a shame after the wonderful uchoten kazoku and what okada is actually of doing after true tours nanto when it comes to drama/romance...then she resorts to this sellout pandering bollocks. As we can see, Okada is involved with their most important shows, such as Hanasaku Iroha (P.A. Works 10th anniversary projects) and Nagi no Asukara (Dengeki 20th anniversary project). They're both commemorative works, hence the generous episode counts. |

Ends up being weirdly entertaining and you don't feel a thing. And as of now, I don't see any characters I like. (will PA ever make a heroine as attractive as Hiromi...) And since it is 2-cour, I'm sure it won't just be boy -> girl <- boy Maybe! girl -> boy -><- girl -> girl -><- boy <- boy! By the end. Just kidding.

Let me just say that making pointless troll tags is a ban-able offence. There are a small group of people who have been making a habit of it, and this is your last warning.
I removed all the tags. Please only post *real*, *useful*, *valid* tags if you are going to add some.

lol, a show about sea-kids moving to a land-dweller school and mixing with land-dwelling humans, and you have all this elaborate seagod lore, and all people can talk about is NTR.
![]() Honestly, I'm finding this show pretty weird. I know I probably shouldn't - I mean, I've read a lot of comic books with Atlanteans in them - But there's just something about how this first episode was executed that makes this sea-people/land-people thing feel so strange to me. And in fairness to Pocari Sweat, some of the characters do have a bit of a derpy feeling to them. Still, the romantic conflict is interesting. I suppose, on second thought, that might be why the NTR is getting so much focus - So far, romance conflict is the most compelling part of the show, imo. I do like how the main love triangle was introduced, and I like how it's being handled so far. The other thing I like is the visuals. This is a very pretty show.

I liked the first episode.
Granted, I knew what to expect because I've read the manga adaptation, but the anime pleasantly surprised me. Certain elements were toned down while others were subtly changed. I thought the changes that were made greatly strengthen the story by propelling the plot forward. If I must complain about something then I'll say two things: 1.) I wish the underwater mechanics were more consistent. I would much rather see hair floating (even though I know how hard and expensive that is to animate), bubbles erupt from sudden movements, and so on than the apparent pick-and-choose method they're going for. In one scene we have Hikari launching himself up to the second floor of a house yet in another they trudge up/down steps like "land" people. It's inconsistent, but I don't mind terribly much. 2.) Also, Hikari. He's a right brat. I hope his abrasiveness is toned down as the series progresses. I'll eagerly look forward to next week's episode. I'm dreadfully curious about those things behind (on?) Manaka's ears.

![]() The first "moving in water-town" scene also made me think more of a really bad acid trip then people actually living underwater. I have to say though - I LOLed really hard when the guy literally caught the girl. That was so funny! ![]()

I liked it. I've read just about this far in the manga, and for me this improves on it. The emotions seemed sharper. The underwater visuals could have been better, I guess, but I enjoyed them quite a bit as they were.
HanaKana was perfect in the role of Manaka, just as good as she was not good (in my opinion) in Coppelion. I found it impossible to sympathize with Hikari. I hate this kind of self-important "manliness." Like Rosalena, I hope he becomes a bit less obnoxious, maybe by imitating the land boy -- who nevertheless may not be so great a guy under the surface. We shall see. Spoiler for Reckoner's comment re Okada-sensei, cf. manga:
