What matter isn't the number of scenes, but the quality of it.

With Karuizawa, we see Kiyo acting a lot more differently than with Hori. I mean, the guy used both Hori and Karuizawa in his schemes but notices the aftermath: he was certainly a lot more tender and caring when he was with karuizawa then Hori.

With Ichinose, it's the contrast between them. Ichinose is friendly, outgoing and stand out. Kiyo is stoic introverted and is easily ignored. Their methods of dealing with people is also contrasting: Ichinose trust and o trusted by her class, Kiyo only trust a few and is low on the class trust list as a whole.

And Hori? Not that much.

In the LN has many characters and the author creates a volume or arc for every character. (ex: konosuba, re:zero, dungeon defense, akashic records...). These characters are his work and every author likes one's own character who a character creates but this isnt means these characters will be on every volume.... most of authors/illsutrators and mangakas writes it on one's own twitter (I can show you many examples belonging to it ). And besides, I know she developed more than Horikita.(cause i am reading vol 4 now) But now everyone knows that next volume will be about other character and maybe that character will develop much more than Kei. ( that character can be Ichinose,Sakura,Suzune, Alice etc). I mean the LN is his work and It all depends on the author...

Yeah I agree that Ichinose seems to be good material for a spin-off but Kinugasa is clearly hiding something about her, which is likely why she doesn't have one right now, maybe she will do in the future. Regarding discussions here, hopefully things will be better as more translations come out.

Anyway, I think both sides have their valid points, I'll recap so pls correct me if i'm wrong (based on what I've known btw) :

Against Sudo:
- Had it not been for Ayano, Sudo would have dropped out. Also, Horikita would have never realized her weakness. Basically every chance Sudo has is mostly created by our MC.
- Ayano helping Horikita is the focal point of the story imo, the start of the story and all.
- She probably has more interactions with Ayano.

For Sudo:
- Noticeable development. Makes you wonder what is the point of his development if he is not getting Horikita ??
- Actively trying to get Horikita's affection (the sister, not the brother)
- Other female characters have more of an impact on MC.

Unless Horikita gets some more quality screen time, I cannot see her surpassing other heroines. Especially after reading Kei's scenes, I seriously don't know how others are gonna beat that.

Sudou is like Horikita's obedient guard dog right now. When she says 'sit' he will 'sit'. He already knows how to 'stay' when told to (though he sometimes doesnt listen). You even see him following behind her even without a leash. No kidding. A guy like that is perfect for a girl with a personality like Horikita. It's so laughable that you wouldn't even bother about shipping if you have read all of the volume. Wonder if he will learn how to 'fetch' in the future.

It is really amusing to watch all that ship wars. Like, Cinnamon have a point in some parts, but there is one most critical part, and that until now, there is not a hint, that will say, that Horikita feels something towards Sudou except being her comrade.
And another main point is, that Sudou is not the reason why Horikita changed.
So far I like all the girls in this series, and I feel that Horikita will be wasted on someone like Sudou. Yes, he changed a lot compared to the vol 1, but he is still same not interesting character as before.
But so far, after 7 volumes, I enjoy more that character interactions and mind games, than some shipping stuff.

I also think Horikita is wasted on Sudou, but I'm not the author. Just pointing out facts for people who thought it was impossible for that to happen.

Going to answer my earlier question, which scene I think moved the plot the most: Horikita losing to Ryuuen. I mean, even the chapter name is hinting that this was the big event that turned everything around, class D is almost overtaking C, Horikita finally realises what's important, Ayanokouji showing some of his true colours, The start of the duel between Ayanokouji and Ryuuen. Just pure gold.
