Title of Vol 21 is "6000 years truth". So it looks like a lot of questions from Brimir's time will be answered.

Yes, you can read from first Vol. for more details and differences between first two series (Saito bring his notebook to other world - cut out in anime). Good adaptation ended on chapter 9 from Vol 7. They changed ending of battle and skipped 8th Vol. Also 3rd season was weak and ZnT F had almost nothing common with LN (battle and mansions was ok, rest... and all from 8ep was anime original) so reading LN is really, really good idea.

what's happening in the latest installment? Saito and Tiffania still running from elves? and what about louise and the others? I haven't read or watch the last part of the last season of ZnT and even the novels, I'm out dated on the latest news.

You can read up to Vol 18 in full. Would be nice if someone finishes Vol 19 & 20 and then Vol 21 before the final volume comes out.

That was filler. Tifa and Saito were imprisoned by elves, Louise cast World Gate that was connected with flying ship, in next ep (or even in same episode) "war" was over and everyone was happy. Later was just giant, magical dragon as last boss.

So you have lost nothing really, anime have original ending and fourth season was butchered like a hell.

No, he'll have a wife and a concubine. Henrietta is out of the run, Tifa was never in the run to begin with. Tabitha has a country to lead.
