I'm fairly sure they can do it. They seem quite capable of abridging cases without losing too much of the general plotline. They squished the Steel Samurai case neatly into two trial days rather than three.
I will also not lie, this last episode kinda got me excited. They actually rounded out some of the backstory and connected everything a little more neatly, although they mixed up the order of events here and there, I think it comes out better for it. |

Episode 9
Oh looks like the latest case is going to be extended a bit. I like the witness though, hope to see more of that. Got some mixed feelings about the episode although I did like the comedy of it and the courtroom debate was rather tense.

Akio Ohtsuka is great as von Karma. Too bad design not even slightly intimidating and I'm not even talking about art at this point. Then again, since anime adapts two games, he has a mid-boss treatment here.

Is Ohtsuka ever not great? He could read from the encyclopedia and make it sound like an epic for the ages.
The sad thing about the art is that they're certainly making an effort to capture Edayan's original design (to the point where it gets lost if there's an angle that was never represented in the games) but the mundane lighting so often makes everything look so dull. A little shadow could really help add some weight to the mood. |

Episode 10:
I think Yahari kinda saved the day there. So Mitsurugi was framed for murder during that night at the boat. I didn't think it was a big surprise but it'll be interesting to see who the real culprit is. Next episode should be the climax for the trial. Also, I think Sayuri (the parrot) is awesome. Hope we see more of him this season.!

Episode 11:
Even I have to admit, that Sayuri is one awesome parrot. Decent episode, this case has actually caught my interest than more originally expected. Plus, we got another little plot twist at the end so expecting to learn more about the DL-5 incident.

To be fair, the reason the cross examination of the parrot was so ridiculous in the game is due to how the ridiculousness of it all meshed with the gameplay. It got the story part of the scene across just fine, but remember that part of the game's presentation is done through the gameplay itself.
That being said, the show really has grown on me. I mean it's still not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but despite the low budget animation, there have been times when I felt emotionally invested in the show. In particularly when the old man confessed, that kinda struck a nerve with me lol. A criminal can also be a victim after all. (not to say it's justification, I mean more in a way of, him being a criminal does not stop him from having been a victim) Also, seeing how the current rate the show is moving at, I wonder whether they actually aren't going to adapt all of the second game, rather, only the first two or three cases. That way they have enough material for a possible second season, while still giving the story a little bit of closure in case a second season does not happen. |
