Why not consider Aliens as a mating/romantic option? Here's some food for thought. What if (IMHO, for sure) there really are other forms of intelligence life in the universe and they come to Earth (or vice versa) and our species intermingle. Refer to the general chat forums for chances of intelligence life. And they're mesmerizingly attractive. Would you consider the aliens (such a maligned word) as a romantic or mating option? Why or why not? I'm not talking about the master/slave relationship thing with Takeya and Ren, but regular relationship with an alien. I for one would be open for it. Some reasons are; it vastly expands my opportunity to find a partner. Just like humans of mix race, maybe the babies of mixed species could get the best traits of both worlds. Just like races, I don't want to discriminate against other species as well (specism?). But this probably won't happen in our lifetime, so it's all speculative right now...

Anyone notice how Ren's collar keeps changing in size? One moment, it's tight, the next, it's draped over her shoulders, and not necessarily during SD moments either. Is this a visual gag, sloppy design, or does the collar really change size from time to time?

IINM, when they're in their DearS clothes, the collar is larger, and when they're naked (thus wearing human clothes) it becomes tighter

but if you mean slight change between scene, probably just the animator's problem with matching the size in the drawing ^^;

Actually the Christian book of Genesis has both sex with slaves and sex with aliens, just not in combination. If anything, the young human race seems to have been the slaves to the "Sons of God" who hung out on Earth around the time humans were created. They married who they wanted among human women and had kids that grew up to be unnaturally big, and at least some of the families had six fingers and six toes. That's all in the Bible, believe it or not. ^_^

And I don't think many people today would go all out with aliens, when so few even date humans of other races.

I've now seen all five episodes available, and I like this series more and more. The characters are becoming more rounded, and the story is revealing more levels (even if we can guess where it will go). As for the extreme ecchiness, bring it on. They're doing a wonderful job of it.

Japan is both one of the safest, least crime-ridden of first-world countries and the one that has the most soft-core porn in evidence. Maybe North America can learn something from that. I do think ecchi is soft-core porn, but that doesn't make it bad. This series goes straight to the heart of male desires (even the "I'm your slave" stuff, I'm embarrassed to say) but perhaps recognizing those urges helps to sublimate them.

The over-the-top teacher weirded me out at first, but with the students' attitude toward her, and the extremeness of her shtick, now I see the humor. It's like Puni Puni Poemi: so totally over the top that it's hilarious. It doesn't quite fit the rest of the story, but that makes it even more remarkable.

My favorite character, though, is Neneko. She is so cool, so nice, so real, so in love. The scene of her with her bike in the intro, when the wind blows, is simple but touching. She's beautifully drawn and beautifully acted. I really hope things turn out well for her.

And like everyone else, I can't get the opening and closing themes out of my head. Or the terminally kawaii dancing figures. Like a shot of sugar straight to the heart.

Well, same goes here. I think the story is getting better and better. The chibi version of DearS also seems to shine more. The comedy make sense (well at least i think so) accept for the teacher case. Not to mention a few meaningless plot like the "Head Master Garden" & "the 2 weird couple which always doing nasty things in the science lab or etc."

I agree, in my country, they forbidden prostitutions thus, prostitute is Ilegal business. And because of this stupid law, the rate of rape cases are very high causing most girls to even scare to go out alone or most of them make themselves looks like shit (Ugly) In order not to attract rapist.... The Japanese people are fucked up?

I would argue that Japan produces, per capita, the most creative [the arts] and the most intelligent [science & engineering] people on this planet.

Their extended families, where the young and old care for and support each other, and their family-like business structures [the zaibatsu] where the new employee supports the seasoned veterans by working extra hard and the seasoned veterans support the new employees by protecting their jobs, are based in their sense of family, duty, and loyalty. It is these concepts and social structures that drive the Japanese toward excellence, and it is these same concepts and social structures that help keep the crime rate down.

Of course all is not roses, and these same concepts and social structures have their downsides too, especially the business environment and the stress it puts on young families [which is why the extended family is so important - it helps to alleviate that stress significantly], and the education system and the stress it puts on students: the drive to excel leads to isolation and stress levels so high that it can lead to suicide or doing other psychologically damaging things [and here again is where the extended family supports the student, preventing the feelings of isolation and mitigating the stress].

What's fucked up is the unfortunate effect that westernization has had, and continues to have, on the Japanese beliefs in family, duty, and loyalty, especially the disintegration of the extended family.
