From what I recall, SS-rank is the highest a human can manage...

Of course, Unison Mode Hayate isn't exactly human...

Exactly as you said it.

I remember them saying that the mage's rank is judged by their overall magic power and skill.

Also, funny you should mention that... I don't think thats ALL he learnt...Heh

Looking through the post A's manga, Chrono was one 'level' higher than Fate (and most likely Nanoha as well), if nothing changes, my guess is that he is STILL one level higher than them.

Yes, his potential is lower, doesn't mean his overall capability is weaker.

So his skill would make up for the lack of magical potential that Nanoha and Fate possesses.

Afterall, if the post A's manga still remain true, Fate hasn't beaten him once even in training...

I get the feeling Lindy is a support type Mage... so she is S class and thus very powerful, but still not a combat type.

That's probably why she got the boring job of field suppression when the jewel seeds were beginning to damage the dimensional fabric.

That's just my speculation though.
