I do actually kind of hope Futoshi gets some sort of characterization in this episode, though.

Edit: Also, I took the time to watch the special. Seeing all of the main cast's thoughts on their characters and what episodes had the most impact for them was pretty insightful, I thought. They each understand their characters very well and you can tell why they were selected to be on this project.

well i can understand that, i never gonna forget the "forever battle" of goku vs frieza where like 4 or 5 minutes last like hours/days/months/years!!!! .

the goku x frieza battle was one of the worst fillers in a shounen battle for me ever.

This was my favorite part of the episode! I love Mitsuru's new hairstyle.

These are the rest of my impressions.

Spoiler:

• I love the new version of the opening with the slower version of the song and the ending too. Some people on the live stream chat were chatting about how this might have a sad ending because of Nishigori (I hope I got his name right), so I definitely hope that's not the case.
• So, looks like they are probably gonna fight the mother of the Klaxosaurs or 001. Or maybe they are one in the same.
• Zero Two's new cheerful interactions with everyone are really interesting. She has really changed since she and Hiro got together.
• I really hope Miku's new grey hair isn't a sign that she's growing old instead of just stress. They're are kind of hinting in the OP that some of them are gonna die in the next half.
• They are definitely gonna address Ikuno's affections for Ichigo in the second half judging by the ending, however, I'm not really sure what they are implying with Goro and Ichigo in the opening.
• I like how the gang is working towards independence and fostering stronger connections with each other.

One a side note, I really like the analysis done on DITF's mythology. I found the Golden Bough reference about how "the kings having the power to call rain and how the parasites are basically sacrifices to ensure Papa's rule and that by killing Papa and the other kings, a new order is born with new growth and greenery fills the land" part really interesting and I think that is going happen in the second half.

if it's foreshadowing then 02 might be captured and squad will try to save her (that scene will all hands seeking her and Hiro standing alone before that giant Franxx). 02 siting on blueish dino thing (giant "franxx" from where 01(?) appears and at end of opening) before disappearing also might suggest that, so going by this, that bluish woman might be 01 mother and our last boss

Still at the end everyone can die based on how Mikus hair started to become grey like those from plant26, first symptoms but from this point it can speed up.

Well maybe in the klaxo kingdom there is a cure or the only way to live is to become like 02. Other possibility is that what Doc is working on is a cure to stop rapid aging to give the kids a better future. Maybe Hiros blood mutated to the point it stopped the rapid aging and it will be used to create a cure.

For now its gona be interesting to see who that blue oni is, sister, mother, prince like in the book so a male variant of 02, we can only speculate as for now.

Very nice episode. It's been a month since the last episode and the kids are going further and further down their own path. There's some fundamental changes in the attitude and behaviour of the kids. I dunno how much longer this time of peace will continue for but things aren't going to be the same afterwards.

On the other hand... with an episode like this... it's kinda "enjoy it while it lasts". There's already multiple hints of possible tragedies in store.

The reference to the cherry blossoms is hopefully a good sign. It would be nice to get that scene with Hiro and 02 amongst the cherry blossoms for real, if it happens at the end at least.

The new verison of the OP song looks good. Personally, I like it more than the first one and there seems to be some foreshadowing in it.

For the episode itself, it seems the mood is much more calmer now after the drama and fighting. It's finally nice for Ichigo to see that Zero Two is also like them. I think Zorome bought up an interesting point this week about their Papa. Personally, I don't trust the adults at all by this point.

Also, I wonder who that character is at the end?...

Mitsuru and Kokoro's also had a brief kiss! His new haircut looks dope.
