ep 3
Was an okay episode that mainly served it's purpose in introducing the Cursed Gear. I don't the anime staff was trying surprise with Mika actually being alive (or undead now I guess) so it's understandable why that scene lacked any impact. Anyway Shinoa is still most entertaining about the show so a far, but it looks we are finally moving out of this prologue soon.

Anime is insanely better than the manga, despite the same material. This shows what a good studio and staff can do to a story. The BGMs, atmosphere created, and seiyuu acting make a lot of things better. And the pacing was good too.

about the pacing next episode should be faster (2 chapters into 1 episode), wonder if the pace will accelerate or if it'll happen only some times |

An atmosphere and image of normalcy can be useful in shrouding things. This school seems designed to make the kids think that the human adults have regained control of the situation (the situation in the aftermath of Virus-day), and that everything will be nice and fine as long as the kids trust and obey the human adults.

Because they still need to rebuild a society. The ones that don't get recreuited for the army will need to learn other stuff. And having balanced adults will aid the most to building society once again. |

Yu is... a true idiot. Seriously, this guy really can't spend a minute to just think. Shinoa warned him the dangers of being unprepared and the need for training and preparation. The only reason he made it through was because of pure plot armor and because the story said so. He should have remained possessed by the demon, and the Moon Company should have come and rescue him so he would learn his lesson.
Also, the worst kept secret is finally out of the bag... Mika is alive.. sort of. It looks like he has become a vampire, and... uh.... yeah, preview title confirmed it with a sledge hammer. Now, the question remaining is, how did he grow up? If he was turned into a vampire at his death scene, then he should have stayed immortal as a shouta. I don't think the anime will ever explain that part.

*in monotone voice* Oh my god!, I never saw that ending coming *gasp* *shock* No waayyy. -_-
Pretty good anime, even though I can tell what's gonna happen before it does (haven't read the manga) it's still entertaining, although the MC's obsession with Mika is kinda losing me here, too heavy handed just to make us "worry" about them whenever they face off against each other and all the face touching they do to each other makes me wanna punch someone, just stop anime we get it they were close big deal.

That quick duel between Yu and Shinoa was fantastic, props to him for being able to fight her almost at the same level using a normal weapon, though naturally he ended up overwhelmed. Lots of info about these stylish devices known as cursed gears and also why the school exists as a talent recruitment center for the Demon Company. Not a normal school, of course.
Finally Yu is able to beat his inner demons and is ready to get his own gear, not an axe but that katana seen in OP/promo art. And Mika returns as vampire but we already knew that. |

I was kinda ready to drop the hell out of this after ep 2. Glad I didn't. A recruiting ground masquerading as a school? I didn't think of that, that's a very nice twist. Also gg for that meta comment Shinoa, lol.
As for Yu, color me surprised that I'm not quite annoyed with him now. He is intriguing. We have learned he isn't much for teamwork right now because he's still traumatized over losing people dear to him. I am looking forward to the moment when he realized that he can let go of that trauma and start to believe in his new friends, though of course it will probably come after a period of angst after learning about Mika.

I'm happy with the explanation for the existence of the school.
Revelation of Mika being alive was as clumsy as I thought it would be, but that was expected after ep.2. They dug that hole for themselves And that's really the only semi-negative thing that can be said about this show so far. Everything else is great. It appears to be carefully written and the characters appear to be well constructed. I enjoyed the introduction of the cursed gear and explanations. Helps that the animation is top notch- Shinoa's gear looked awesome

The animation for Shinoa's cursed armament is indeed nice but the seiyuu for her makes her more lovely. I'm liking the anime more than the manga and its really surprising while thinking about Kagami's past animated works. I hope I didn't jinx the show because its really awesome.
So far, how long is it? 2 cour or 1 cour? I hope for 2 cour. ah aahha Shinoa for best girl this season like as for megumi on the past season.
