A show co-starring a high school girl who's interested and capable in electronics and mechanics that's set in modern Japan and not in some alternate world where such interests might be more socially accepted among the girls? That's a rare enough occurrence in my experience that I'll stay just to see if she remains atypical.

The background, story and characters are vastly different. Sharing the same universe doesn't mean it should be put together, especially when you don't have a direct link through characters or/and events.
Fate and To Aru series have much more connections than just "same universe".

Tags are psychological/thriller? Could've fooled me, as the first episode sets out like it's a slice of life anime like Tari Tari, just replacing choir club with robot club. XD
Overall, it gives me a better impression than Little Buster (probably the other big name this cours), as the story starts to be more focused here. With the conflicts of the club being disbanded if they don't win, and their goal of completing the robot in 6 months, at least it gives me something to root for the characters.

^ This. You sum it up for me.
Also, Steins;Gate set up the mood right from the beginning adding small pieces with each episode till ep12. Much more happened in terms of story in the first episode when you watch it again. It feels really bad when all the suspense you get in this show is based on character from another anime. (I get it that there is a place torn from a time and that this place has hangar within it. But for whole ep that's not enough to make it interesting) I heard Robotics visual novel was no good, is that true? I'm wondering if intro to it was similiary slow or not. mmm, the episode was solid, I liked the designs and the visuals in general are very good. But honestly the premise didn't grab me. The MC neither. For now I liked the girl, for being competent, less her too energetic side. Hopefully the MC will wake up sooner or later balancing the girl. I'll wait for the new characters to show up.

The nixie tube at the start was an obvious shout-out. The !iPads were very near future (I'm sure the augmented reality app that makes people appear to cosplay is only a short time away!), but the Robotics club must have (or have had) a hell of a budget if they've got that much of a mech in the hangar.
Other than that, the first episode was a scene setter. It's got two cour, it doesn't need to slam all its cards down in the first twenty minutes. |

I think this anime and VN actually are just a premise for something bigger, probably the next "chapter" in the SA series. |

It's not that Robotics;notes is bad, the problem(?) is that Steins;gate was too good. Way too good. It set a lot of expectation and hype for R;N when it was coming out, and unfortunately just can't really compare to it. To be fair, I did enjoy the first 2/3 of the story of R;N, and no one knows what kind of treatment it would get for its anime.
Peronally, for the games itself, I rank them as S;G >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> R;N>>C;H And I've gotta say, the anime quality for R;N is definitely better than S;G.

"Who's eyes are those eyes?"
At the time, I had no clue that this show was in the same universe as Chaos;Head so I was surprised to see this quote. I'm really liking Akiho's hair style, I tend to be attracted to things like that. When Kaito brought that drink to Akiho, I couldn't help to think she was making the same type of reaction as Yui from K-On. Not sure what to expect from this show, but I'm already drawn in. I wouldn't mind if it's just a slice of life kinda things, but let's see where this goes. |

There are probably already games like that for tablets, but how is the response of a simulated pad on a touch screen? I don't think I could ever feel comfortable with something like that.
Anyway the first episode seems promising in terms of art and characters, but there isn't really much to catch my interest so far. The fact that the VN is generally considered bad is a bit of downer. I guess this series won't really get much better than it appears, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now.

sometimes I wonder what they mean by bad. Is it "ok, this is overall not as good as other ones" or "HOW DARE THEY CALL IT A SEQUEL TO STEINS GATE???". Comparison to SG is inevitable, but should it affect our perception to this show?
