Also like it's been discussed he was going up to meet Sena to reject her, shit the entire point of him leaving the club was because he didn't want to accept her feeling and mess up the club, he wanted to keep the status quo. So short answer, no.

The fans are the ones disappointed Kodaka ended up with no one if anythings the fans are the ones that put so much emphasis on shipping. Obviously the author had a lot of friction with his editors and artist so the story so the story went haywire toward the end. The average people that read these stories could care less about shipping and what not they're just light reading to pick up and drop without much thinking since they're teenagers and young adults, it's mostly the anime fanbase who give a shit about shipping and what not then come over to complain about it when their otp sinks. The LN industry is pretty much the same from 10-15 years ago when I was a kid what's changed is interconnecting the internet allows so the "otaku" who usually kept to themselves are more vocal thanks to the anonymity, don't wanna sound like an old fart or anything but back in my middle/high school days LN's weren't serious reading just something to occupy time.

The "choice" to befriend another human - his negative thinking holds him back to do that - even until the end of the story. He never changed. |

The manga is almost at LN Vol 8 ending which is where the anime ended. It took 6 years for the manga to cover up to LN Vol 8, so it will take another 2-3 years until it reaches the ending. But that's assuming the manga will go beyond where the anime ended and I hope it will.

I skimmed through Volume 16 of the manga version. Volume 9 of the novel is close to being fully covered, which leaves only 2 volumes left. Interestingly enough, I think there were two particular scenes that got changed in the manga version.
Spoiler for LN vs. Manga:

^You should be a little more specific and clearly state that this is inferred information. As far as the timeline of events in the story was concerned, there was no "winner" at the end.
Most (myself included) have deduced that Sena would be the eventual winner because all of the other competitors had been properly eliminated/rejected during the events of the story, whereas she wasn't.
