Pft, who cares about some petty brawl, REAL revolution is coming, medical one!
With combination of sensors and nagic->life force conversion you can get perfect replacement for ANY diagnostical machine. Disruptive magic can be used for cancer removal and with recent magitech development it's only matter if time before getting some nice prosthetics. Well, if term "life force" is at least partially indicative, being able use m->of conversion for "transfusions" could speed up natural recovery time too, though I am not sure about that. Anyway magi-med might havw significantly higher potential than RL medicine. But I do feel bad for peasants and hope Minmay and Cato's response will be swift.

So real war is here, what a pity only one cannon is done, having these on city wall would be fun. That said allowing slum to be formed were huge oversight on both Cato and Minmey part. Putting aside possibility of fire, it brings also issues with criminality and bad hygiene. Well, I guess now it's written on list to do.
Anyway even though systematic R&D is necessary for large scale revolution I am starting miss ol' good times when Cato and Landar were just doing stuff together. It was as cute in properly crazy way.

If she cant make smaller circuits cause it would be too difficult to check for errors, cant she just make a new machine to make the circuits for her?
As for fire problems the Roman empire had a similar problem , it got reduced thanks to them bringing water litterally everywhere in the city but it wont work with oil so i guess .Maybe using mass produced mana cannons instead? Last edited by Breimn; 2016-03-02 at 08:04. |

The fire's also a very prominent reminder not to neglect the civil service (planning, town council) and civil defence force (police, fireman, ambulance).
Any speculation on the sparks from the fire? Spoiler for hint/spoiler:
Tenzen: True. Cato is getting more and more tied down with 'political stuff', like the negotiation for setting a standard of measurement and planning how to build and pay for a sewer. Even worse that that sort of thing isn't terribly interesting to read about so I just end up not writing it at all. Breimn: Yes, building a enchantment device is what Cato would suggest. Building tools to build more tools is not yet a concept Inath has caught on to yet, although Landar is getting there.

So it was natural fenomena, huh. I thought there were some kind of intend behind it as it appeared with such timing and above most flammable part of city.
And yay adventure time! I don't know if you planed it all along or it's result of feedback, but... Once again yay! And what was it with Landar? Was she jealous? It did look that way, right? Right? Great chapter both in pleasing me subjectively and objective quality thank you.

Landar is awakening to her yandere side.
BTW is this natural fenomena due to something like saturation of magical power too(kinda like rain?) ? Cause if it is simply a big fire that can birth a firestorm cloud then there should have been other sightings since even natural fires in mountains/woods can become quite big . So is it something that requires a certain quantity of magical power around too? I guess it is different for mana crystals since they can just be slowly formed unlike firestorms that will use up any excessive magic by raining fire. |

It was one of two possible paths (C&L both go or neither go and they send NPCs). Then again Cato needs a holiday, so why not. Besides, it's not like them not being at the university will actually stop the science, this expedition is better equipped than the first one.
^Firestorms also get quite lethal. And most sane people wouldn't stay near a forest fire. But yes, they do happen in the wild too. So that's a good point. I shall see where I should put that in (perhaps a myth or some sort of story)

Now that i think about it magic weather really ups the problem of pollution. I guess the green miasma was born by some strong poison to the land? (Kinda like when they poisoned that tremor like monster right at thr start of story but a wider area).
So making sure sewers dont get too dirty would br even more of a priority than our world. Luckily a bit of magic water should take care of most things. |

What kind of fantasyworld doesn't have giant amoebas in their canalisation? On a serious note: That would actually make sense in a way... you magically create a slime or giant amoeba that eats all the undesirable stuff, poisons, etc. They propagate via cell divison and if there is not enough "food", they will either go into some sort of hibernation or die off (or... you send some mercenaries who really need money). You can breed specialised slimes to deal with specific things: one type of slime eats sulfur or iron, another only organic material, another latches onto poisonous material as some sort of biological isolation... Something like this could have been a project from the ancient civilisation. |

Just finally caught up with the latest chapter, it can get really technical but I enjoyed it.
I only got really interested in Morey's adventures when he started clashing with his other party members & started a former slaves rebel army who used heavy guerrilla tactics. Back then it was more world building & your typical fantasy hero tales. It was amusing how Landar pretty much forced Cato with her into the expedition, gotta' protect her co-mad scientist boytoy not-boyfriend best(?) friend. Finally, a real war is upon them eh?

I do admit that I skipped some of the contents on subjects that didn't really interest me or simply know too little of (like political stuff in his notes, just read enough to understand the gist of it) but I found the things that I did read really well thought out (like his observations & thoughts on magic, its rules & such, most of their experiments & developments, etc).
And it really is interesting how the two otherworlders are slowly going about being or turning into "Heroes" in different terms and/or situations.

Hmm, just realized i'm confused on Ektal - Inath difference.
so, until now, False Hero Cato, his books, and King orders for Dupont to subdue Minmay is still Ektal matter ? Inath still too far away and only receive rumour and books ? Iron Forge, and other Industrial Change still un-felt in Inath economy ? |

Refer to map here: http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost...&postcount=283
This is 1 country, Ektal. Inath is another country (you can see the direction arrow on the map in blue). It's further away and doesn't have the influence of the university. Kalny, Muller and the other big commercial merchants who are all developing have their competitors who are all copying them. Inath doesn't have this. So the technological impact of Cato's books on Inath is much slower than in Ektal. Confusingly, Inath is also the name of the Federation of all the countries (4 in total). Inath the country and Inath the Federation are not the same thing. In this post, I was referring to Inath the country. Additional confusion is the way that Ektal the country, Ektal the capital city and Ektal the chancellor all have the same name (this is following the rule that nobles who are responsible for a place take on the name of that place -this is a quirk of Ektal the country, does not apply to the others).
