The time for my new story to make its debut has arrived. It is titled, "The Kirita Chronicles."
Summary: What would have happened if certain characters genders were altered while others remained the same? How differently would certain events play out? How would this affect the relationships that developed as a result of the incident? Who will live and who will die? See how the alterations of certain characters' genders and histories will cause ripples throughout the story. I hope you will enjoy the first chapter and leave a review. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9469870/...ita-Chronicles |

I have now posted the third chapter for "The Kirita Chronicles," and it also marks the end of the first story arc. It is titled, "Beta Test." As you can guess by the title, this is about my version of the Beta Test in this semi-genderbent world for Sword Art Online.
I hope you will read this story and provide a review. I'm sure you will enjoy it. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9469870/...ita-Chronicles |

Does anyone else feel like they (that is, the fans here) would have done something different with the nine ALO races?
For me, I'm seeing the Planet of Hats problem with pretty much all of them, and I don't think it's good game-design or world-building. (Warning: Link leads to TV Tropes. Beware, lest you find yourself there for hours.) To start with, the Gnomes and the Leprechauns, who have the Hats of "Miners" and "Blacksmiths". Lore-wise, you can't really have an entire city of blacksmiths. A city and society needs a wide variety of trades to support a populace and military, and blacksmithing itself has to be supported by other activities. Namely, mining. It's rather got to suck for the Gnomes to rely on the Leprechauns to actually make the really worthwhile equipment from the stuff they mine and refine, and it's got to suck for the Leprechauns to rely on the Gnomes to provide the materials they need to make the good stuff. Especially if the Gnomish zone is (I presume) the best place in the world to mine for materials. The Gnomes can't keep their business inside, as there's little point selling ore to other miners. The Leprechauns have it a little better, as at least they can specialize with sword-crafting or armor-crafting, and thus have something to sell to other Leprachauns. ALO seems like someone took World of Warcraft, and discarded the "faction / race" concepts in order to base each race on one particular Class. That is, a city of Rogues, or Mages, or Warriors. There's some variety within each class, but the whole race is too homogenized. More healers than the Undines need, more crafters than the Leprechauns need, more mezzers than the Imps or Puca need... But it goes beyond "jobs / roles", too. Even the elemental proficiencies are problematic. The Salamander lands are primarily a hot, arid desert, yes? If the fire-aspected Salamanders are most at home there, then so would a number of fire-elemental creatures. Creatures that would share the Salamander's resistance to fire, and which would tend to be weak against other elements. So the Salamanders would be discouraged from exploring their specialty in fire-magic, and punished for exploring the other elements that they would need to dominate their own zone. And the same problem would exist for the Undines and Gnomes, and possibly also the Sylphs and Imps. The Spriggans likewise would need to find the monsters of their zone more resistant to illusions than monsters of other zones (or otherwise tougher and more dangerous even when confused), or else the Spriggan players would find combat too easy compared to other players. |

I have created TVTropes pages for both of my Sword Art Online fanfiction stories "Fairy Dance Alternate" and "The Kirita Chronicles." I can use help with expanding the pages. Would anyone here be interested in helping me?

Anyway, I think those YMMV tropes were befitting. After all, at least one of them was something I have been criticized for. I was actually thinking of adding the trope 'arc fatigue' myself. I also thought the words you used for 'What an Idiot' were fitting as well. I always thought Asuna's father was an idiot, so I decided to make him that way in my story as well. I have now produced Chapter Seven of "The Kirita Chronicles." As you can guess, it is titled, "Month of Survival - Part Two," and it is the longest chapter I have ever produced. I hope you will enjoy reading it and provide a review.

3rd party fan created sao mmo? maybe :D
hello everyone, i am thinking of making a sword art online game using java.
my question is what do you guys think would happen? would i get slapped with a copyright lawsuit even if i dont profit but just have donations setup that go straight into game dev/server dev? do you think the company would be okay with it and be happy to see fans enjoy doing what they saw the hero kirito do in that wonderful yet deadly game? either way i am going to make it it is just the thought of being sewed for wanting to play with other people publicly for possible donations people could make to increase the quality of the world. that is the deciding factor in making it public or just playing with friends when floor 1 is completed. |
