The fights in this episode could have been really great if this show had decent animation. Such a shame. Still pretty good overall. I'm curious about the whole Utgardar thing, why did Frodi compliment him and what is the "ultimate truth"?

Utgardar in Norse mythology is related to Loki as Loki is 1/2 Giant. Therefore, Loki was identified as being behind it all. Utgardar was also originally dead and resurrected. He had the same markings on his face that the other Saints had when they overused their powers. Yggdrasil also has one root in the land of the Giants.
