I want to relive things from bird perspective before the confession. But strictly ending with the same last page. I like what the author is doing. The manga was always so tightly written that it's a breath of fresh air how the confession is so masterfully building up. No wonder the series is so popular and critically acclaimed.

I'm not sure any flashback can make Mami a more sympathetic character at this point. Chizuru's assumption that she just wants to see the world burn seems right on the mark...

So she's butting into other people's lives just to fill the dead void that used to be her heart with other people's misery... Knowing why she's such a screwed up mess doesn't make her actions any less horrific.

Knew the author is a pussy who refuses to directly state things.
Not that it really matters, because the purpose was to further tell the readers that females can never be better than Chizuru, they can never have a point.

Right now I'm wondering what would've happened if Kazuya met Ruka first. While Mami's twisted games work on emotionally constipated Chizuru, I doubt they would have any effect on a hard-headed girl like Ruka. In fact, I recall Ruka was openly dismissive of Mami's poor attempts to mess with her.

Usually in these stories if the antagonist is revealed to have a sad backstory she will be forgiven for everything and become friend with the protagonists, so I guess I won't get the satisfaction of seeing Mami reveive retribution for being a bitch.

Too early to judge whether or not Chizuru is ready to step up, but this was still a nice surprise. Of course, knowing the author, any development will have disappeared by next chapter.
