Beautiful. Complicated. Ep3 and the beat goes on. All the characters are great, and the presentation outstanding.

Spoiler for ep3, including summary:

Nothing is as it seems. And even the new revelation about who Hiromi loves may not be as it seems. Personally, I think that Hiromi may well love Shinichirou, but has ruled him off-limits to herself because his mother hates her. But the overture to Noe is revealed as being Hiromi's way of getting closer to her brother...perhaps. The ending image of Hiromi's face was beautifully drawn.

I don't get why people seem to be turning against Hiromi. She's just as attractive as ever. She may (or may not) be dead to Shinchirou, but I don't think she has done anything wrong. If things are as they seem, she has been very careful not to encourage Shinichirou. She even lied about remembering that night when she lost her shoe, not wanting to encourage his feelings.

We didn't get enough of Ai for my taste, but what we did get was wonderful. Iguchi Yuka is rising to the challenge of working with these good seiyuu in a serious show.

Rough summary:
-- Shinichirou is upset that Noe keeps giving him berries
-- he follows her after school to tell her so and sees her getting on the back of a bike with a boy, who appears to be her boyfriend
-- S's mother is getting Hiromi to go out and deliver a bottle of sake at night. S arrives home and decides to accompany her. on the walk, S mentions the time she got lost there, and she denies remembering, even though she really does.
-- S's father asks her mother why she's so hard on H, and says she's their child just as much as S is. but the mother says "she's no child of mine"
-- S accompanies Ai delivering a bento and we see Ai working herself up to almost confess, then getting frustrated and angry with him -- or with herself
-- S goes and finds N in the tree and tells her not to keep giving him berries, especially since she has a boyfriend, then stomps away. she calls him to catch her as she jumps down, but he refuses, so she jumps down and hurts her foot so he has to carry her piggy-back. she gets him to take her to the gym, where Hiromi is timer for a boys' basketball game. S is unhappy that H sees him carrying N. N gets down and runs over to shout encouragement for #4 on the opposition team -- who is her brother!
-- after the match, Hiromi and her friend are sitting on a bench talking. the friend asks her if it's okay that someone is taking Shinichirou, doesnt she love him? H tells her friend that in fact the one she loves is #4 on the opposition team -- Noe's brother (so now we appear to know why she wanted to become friends with Noe). but S has overheard, and when she comes around the corner she sees him and realizes this is so. end of episode.

Just done watching episode 3...now things started to get even better,

With Hiromi's word seems to be contradicting with her own reaction.She said she love Noe's brother,but her reaction when she saw Shinichiro seems to tell the opposite thing.Maybe she did had feelings for Noe's bro?Or its just her own excuse to stop her friend from pushing her?From the first episode,she seems like never gave any attention towards Shinichiro,but in the second episode,things started to change when Noe start to get close with Shinichiro.And now in episode 3,we get this kind of shit >"<

From this episode,i can conclude few theories about what actually happen up until now regarding Hiromi Yuasa
- She had feeling for Shinichiro.but she never show it to him.More like she just leave things as it is and never take the initiative to start her step,probably because she didn't felt any threat from other girls?If that's how the way thing goes in episode 1,then it would be easy to explain about things that happen in episode 2 and even her reaction when she saw Shinichiro with Noe in episode 3.
- If she really had feeling for Noe's brother,why would she care about Shinichiro and Noe?Especially in episode 2,when she asked Shinichiro to tell her (Noe) that she wanna become her friend.That would make sense actually if Hiromi and Noe's brother never know each other,thus she's trying to take the first step to initiate a relationship between them both.But the answer from Noe regarding Hiromi's wish to become her friend doesn't really show us that kind of probability.More like Hiromi was trying to separate both Shinichiro and Noe from getting closer to each other.

I actually like the Hiromi character quite a bit. She shows a lot of fallacies that any person would have; lying, jealousy, confusion, etc. She's obviously in a horrible position considering Shinichiro's family adopted her after her parents death and while Shin's father sees her as their own child, his mother blatantly says that she isn't her daughter. Add to that, Hiromi said that upon moving in with Shin's family, that she tucked her memories and thoughts about him away.

Having been in a related situation in the past (though not due to family death), I can relate a bit to her situation...really hope Shin ends up with Hiromi

True. But, are we really goingt o believe she is not going to fight for Shin over the other 2 girls. Because if she isn't then we know Noe will be the one with Shin. Even though im pulling for a surprise and have Ai get with him.

Though it has only been 3 episode, Hiromi has shown no connection to Noe's brother. Ok they both play basketball, but besides that we haven't seen a convo or any glimpses of a past or connection between the two.

Hiromi wanted Shin to help her to become friends with Noe wasn't to get closer to Noe's brother, but to find a reason to interact with Shin. It is obvious she is suffering and jealous from watching the interactions between Shin and Noe. All of Hiromi's confusing or spark of panic revolve around Shin. And indeed her actions and words are going to come back and bite her in the ass.

Tomoyo shows no real connection with Shin but is very close friends with Hiromi. For her to think and encourage Hiromi to pursue Shin, she must know about Hiromi's feelings. Hiromi just seems to be being around the push and said she likes Noe's brother to get Tomoyo to stop causing confusion within her. We know Hiromi and Shin use to be really close, but for some reason became distance and not completely sure why. We'll find out soon and I'm looking forward to it!

Yup, Hiromi has become a compulsive liar! Once an object is in motion, it stays in motion until an outside force comes into play!

Spoiler for true tears speculation/plot:

On a more technical note: I find the seiyuu's in this series incredible & ambient sound remarkable. Actually close your eyes, if you can turn away from the Kyo-ani level animation & listen to the lines. They're very well delivered. Kudos to this series!

You have to somewhat feel for Shinichiro being spun around like a top by Noe's unpredictable childish behavior and Hiromi's contradicting words and behavior. And we haven't really gotten to Aiko who seems pretty tsun to Shinichiro. No way that I know who Shin will end up with. And that's the way I like it.

And the animation doesn't drop much in ep 3 as well. Looking forward to every ep.

No other series eats away time as fast as this show does. Time flies when watching it. This is by far been the most enjoyable series for me. Nothing else comes even remotely close from the new season. Just wow!! Another solid episode that reignites the cruel anticipation for the subsequent week. Will be eagerly waiting for episode 4.

saturday can get any better! We have a lot of goodies coming down at the same time. It is like an overload for the senses. Kimikiss, Persona, they are our noble masters, Gundam 00, and True tears.

I was hoping for that too.

But usually this kind of anime,the main guy won't end up having 2 girls by his side at the end of story.Need to choose 1 among those 3 girls to stay and be with Shinichiro.I like Hiromi to stay with Shinichiro,but i like Noe to stay with Shinichiro too....

Had a lot more comedic moments then the previous episodes, from Shinichirou's smiling face creeping people out to the seeds. Noe still treats Shinichirou as a chicken... Aiko has a moment or two, but ends up kicking Shinichirou, who I assume she likes. And... Hiromi, who is still hard to read as usual. The question is whether what she said to Tomoyo was a lie or not. It is possible that it was a lie, with her previously going that she needs to seal away her memories of that festival or the surprised look on her face when she realized that Shinichirou heard everything. Shinichirou's mom still treats Hiromi poorly, while the dad is different. I'm fascinated by the mother's reaction with Hiromi. Just the utter distain for Hiromi was Awesome drama. It makes me want to know, what the heck she or her family did to offend her. And Shin's interactions with mom, wow, is that not a little out of the ordinary. This is where I hope the story develops more. As for Noe's character, I find her personality very child-like & idealistic moeish. Very carefree, interestingly, everything that Hiromi wishes she could be, but due to extenuating circumstances cannot be. I would not be surprised, if they developed Noe's character that she might be hiding a darker side/serious side underneath. Again sort of reversal of Hiromi. Speculating on my part, maybe she might have past run in with some sort of death in the family (grandmother???-photo shone in episode 1). And maybe sorting through some issues herself. The chicken comparison's between Jibeta (ground...lol) & the other flying one (forgot the name) is a funny comparison of Hiromi (duty-restrained/ tsundere-like girl) & Noe (I suppose is very moe). Though if the writers have any gumption, they'll make it more complicated than that. Finally Ai-chan, I think her character is struggling more with the role that's been placed on her by Shin as friend/older sister than a potential gf. Some good advice-giver & character developer for Shin is all I see Ai-chan as. On a more technical note: I find the seiyuu's in this series incredible & ambient sound remarkable. Deathkillz ~ You're dead ^__^* ~ Graphic Designer Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: uk, England Age: 34	ep 3 Spoiler: Oh god what an end...Hiromi is really beginning to get on my nerves with her attitude. She seemed like the "good girl" type but I guess after this I am wrong. She lies blatantly and I just do't get when she isn't true to her feelings. In other words she is a depressed emo, mistress of gloom. The way she is right now I don't know how anyone can live with her without wanting to kill themselves. Going even deeper she also seems like the type to be spiteful. If I were to pick between the two I would choose Noe - even if she is strange at least her intentions are straight forward and pure. The flashback Hiromi is more true to her personality, which is unfortunatly the one she also locked away deep in her heart. I don't even what she wants now because of the way she "acts" in the household (I say act because you never know what she is really thinking). Is she expecting pity from someone? >.> Everyone is still picking on Noe, or at least giving screwed up face impressions whenever she is around (ahh reminds me of H2O at least). But who would have guessed she had such a cool brother I guess that is something to throw back in their face. Shinichirou is officially her pet which she feeds with berries...it affected him so much that he even begins to dream of berries XD Extension to the song - GREAT! Oh and I just love her cute "over there" yell when shinichirou was carrying her...full of moeness :3 By so far the character I like the most has to be Ai. Despite the lack of screen time she has shown to be just as complex compared to the other two. She obviously fancies Shinichirou but her personality is creating some kind of wall. Not to mention that shin said all the wrong words to her, earning him a kick. Spoiler for episode 3 technical aspects: The freeze-frame-to-painting technique from Simoun made an appearance again, though it seems to me that it doesn't manage to get used as well as in Simoun. It would have been more fit for the end of the episode and maybe the bento-box-dropping scene, perhaps. On the other hand, the use of silence and environmental sounds in the bamboo forest scene was really nice, as well as the drawing turning into "snow"fall. While not really apparent in ep3, at least ep2 also made use of some nice framing, different from the usual "one character in the middle or two sharing the screen (nearly) equally", in the scene with Noe and Hiromi leaning on the wall (see this blog entry near the end for a screenshot). Of course, ef used various framings a lot, but a lot of it was rather gratuitous. In general, this is really a show where the 720p version is truly worth the (fortuitously short) extra wait. Falkor Senior Member Join Date: May 2007	Just finished episode 03… thanks for the fast release of this episode. Spoiler for some thoughts on episode 03: Watching episode 03 again (with some subs now) helped me understand the conversation between Ai-chan and Shinnichiro a little bit better. She has some feelings for Shinnichiro (quite obvious), but she is scared of confessing ‘her love’ because of Hiromi, who everybody believes is the closest person to him (besides Noe) and because he seems to have no feelings for her. However, Ai-chan’s development in this episode was closed to nothing compared to what we have learned about Hiromi and Noe. Although she is featured as one of the ‘main heroines,’ I hope she is not completely relegated to the secondary role she has been thus far playing. The most interesting parts are probably Hiromi’s interaction with Shinnichiro—especially the flashback—and the situation where she lies to him and her friend. The snow looked more like Raigomaru’s food, which Shinnichiro actually eats in his dream. I don’t really know what is this supposed to mean, but I might throw a random guess in the future. On a curious note, the math teacher was writing some integrals on the board (basics of calculus).
