Yeah, the TV ending was bad for other reasons, but at least it wasn't a sob-fest.

As for which ending is "canon", I fear the worst for the next project. But maybe Kawamori will for once positively surprise me.

As for the "ending". I kept hearing the movie one was supposed to be the "Macross Frontier finale" by the Man. Not sure if this is true or not.

Clearly the light novel writer already missed that memo. I don't see how the Sheryl manga writer should restrain her/himself, then.

Well, the movie OST does include that Thank you Frontier version of Diamond Crevasse from Sheryl as last track. So the author had some solid basis to work with.

Upcoming missing epilogue DVD/BluRay scene?

Good point. I will say that at least for other franchises a good many people receive reviewer copies before the real publication date, so it is quite feasible that this happened here.

Oh, definitely. Tell ya what...I'm heading to Ikebukuro tomorrow with my date to see the movie again (since she hasn't seen it) and then get some yummy Frontier food and ice cream at Namja Town. I'll drop by a book store, pick up the book, look at the ending, and see what I can piece together.

My date, unfortunately, speaks no English, but if we work together, we'll probably get something coherent out of it.

(EDIT: Last time I went to Namja Town, I got the Keitai-kun ice cream (movie edition: melon flavor), and when you order it, one of the girls working there shouts, "Dakishimete!" and the other one replies, "Ginga no hate made!" It was adorable.)

Thess Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010	I know many Spoiler for spoilers: Wish for Alto's return. But I'm more invested with Sheryl than Sheryl/Alto or Alto. The track was supposed to be a song of gratitude no sadness. So a lively Sheryl singing a heartfelt goodbye before journeying and letting her voice known across the Universe is very satisfying to me. This was what I hoped for with the signals of Sheryl's stirring. Maybe she'll rescue Hime in her journey, maybe not. Maybe Ranka will join her one day (when they don't need her in Frontier to talk to the Vajra) and maybe not.
