@Justin: I find it highly likely that he took the concept from there. DC thought it was a novel idea and I was just pointing out it was mentioned in a Sound Stage which I know she hasn't listened to.

If RD coincidentally came up with the same concept, then okay.

Clarification: I did indeed get the idea from the Sound Stage, though I haven't listened to it myself. I merely took that angle from previous mentions of it. It works well enough for what I've got in mind and helps with the setting.

LOL, everyone should just follow the dc way of thinking of things : I just openly acknowledge that I"m biased, then selectively choose what works I want to reference as I think about the characters in my head and when I write my fanfiction . We're never going to find out for sure over the NanoFateYuuno thing, so why not?

@00-Raiser: LOL, I actually had read the translation of that particular SS (rare, I know! ), since I had been looking it up for fic research. I didn't think that RD's idea was original off the rails regarding Nanoha and Fate's implied relationship and family circumstance, but I found his plot complication quite interesting and new.

I don't like the SS generally, since they tend to give contradicting messages . I actually don't like Armed With Canon much, I'd prefer the creators pick a POV and then I can choose to agree, or happily live in my own deluded world about the characters, rather than have all this back-and-forth stuff .

A click. For a moment, Teana was hopeful, but that hope was dashed.

“Hi~! You’ve reached Subaru Nakajima’s answering machine! Sorry, I can’t talk at the moment,
but if you leave a message, I promise I’ll get back to you as soon as possible! Buh-bye~!”

Teana sighed, listening to the message in full before hanging up. She had no message to leave.

She dialed the number again. Four rings.

Pick up. Pick up already!

“Hi~! You’ve reached Subaru Nakajima’s answering machine! Sorry, I can’t talk at the moment,
but if you leave a message, I promise I’ll get back to you as soon as possible! Buh-bye~!”

Teana watched the recorded video of her friend, so cheerful and bright. It was that life that
propelled her from mere private to become the Ace of the Silver. It was almost impossible to see
Subaru without a smile, and it was just as impossible to not smile back.

She knew the number by heart. She wished she had called more often. It rang four times.

Come on, Subaru! Pick up!

“Hi~! You’ve reached Subaru Nakajima’s answering machine! Sorry, I can’t talk at the moment,

Teana stared at the video. Subaru was irreplaceable, and she seemed so strong, almost invincible.
How could anyone forget a girl like her?

Why would anyone want to forget?

Teana had countless pictures and innumerable memories, dozens of videos and a handful of written
letters, but it would be a long, long time before she could see her friend again, to hear Subaru
speak again.

She dialed the number.

As the phone rang, she looked at the article clutched gingerly in her hand. It was the obituaries.

Killed in the line of duty, sacrificing her life so that others may live.

You could also say she's staying away because she doesn't want to make Nanoha feel bad about not being at work, actually.

Actually it's never said or otherwise hinted at that Fate goes off on missions that last long periods of time. That's merely a fanon thing. With interdimensional battleships and long range teleportation, I doubt distance means much.

I suppose you could, only it's explicitly stated that she's doing it to allow Nanoha and Vivio's relationship to grow.

Subaru Nakajima was resplendent in her white and blue wedding dress. Her groom, an
impeccable Teana Lanster, sheepishly smiled as a great number of pictures (as well as parts of
her soul) were taken. Well-wishers and wedding guests cheered as the couple came out of the
church, though soon enough the groom and bride split to greet their guests.

“Teana! Congratulations!” A young man with blond hair, glasses, and a green suit, greeted.

“Thank you, Yuuno! Still got that suit I see. But yeah, I guess I really did it, huh?”

“I don’t think there’s any doubt about it,” the Librarian nodded. What was wrong with his suit?
“You and Subaru have been inseparable since boot camp and the Scaglietti Incident.”

“I wouldn’t have made it if it weren’t for her…”

Over by Subaru, a gaggle of girls giggled, “Okay, everyone! You all ready?”

“Looks like Subaru’s going to throw her bouquet,” Teana murmured, watching the women step
back and brace themselves.

“There!” Indeed, Subaru threw the bouquet behind her with all her might… meaning anyone with
any hope of getting it had to fly at supersonic speeds as the bouquet broke the sound barrier and
scattered any on-lookers from air pressure alone. They got a bouquet of steel flowers for this
reason, and they lasted forever, too. Someone had better grab it too, lest the bouquet hit
something with the power of an artillery shell.

It would be a solid five minutes before the lucky woman came back victorious, bouquet of steel
in her hands.

“I got it! I got it!” young Nanoha Takamachi cheered, pink wings still attached to her ankles.

“Hmm… maybe it could be your turn next, eh?” Teana grinned.

Yuuno smiled back with a shrug, “Who knows?”

Teana’s response was cut short by Subaru glomping her from behind and greeting Yuuno at the
same time. It was time to go.

“Well, so long. See you, Yuuno,” Teana winked and jumped on to a prepared motorcycle,
Subaru joining up behind her. With the guttural roar of the engine, the happily married couple
sped off at breakneck speeds. To the honeymoon!

Yuuno and Nanoha were left to wave goodbye to the departing dynamic duo. As the dust
settled, Nanoha turned to her childhood friend.

“Oh, Yuuno, wasn’t it wonderful? Didn’t Subaru look radiantly beautiful? Oh, I can’t believe
that a while ago I was blasting her husband in the face with her own spell, and now… she’s her
own Ace,” Nanoha brushed a proud tear out of her eye.

“Yeah. They’re strong girls. I think your legacy is set.”

“Yes!”

“After all, Teana’s got a great position in the Enforcers.”

“Yes!”

“And Subaru’s achieved her dream to be part of the special rescue squad…”

Speaking of dreams…

Yuuno turned to Nanoha.

“Hey, Nanoha.”

“Yes, Yuuno?”

“I’ve got… something to say. I really loved the…” Yuuno struggled to find the right words to
say to an anxiously waiting Nanoha, “Skillful way you beat the other girls to the bride’s
bouquet…”

A crescendo of violins! A beat of drums! A—

[This musical number is interrupted by the fact that Tempy don’t write songs, and for good
reason. We will now fast forward through the silly singing and oh look they’re kissing]

“I~ love~ you~!” the two lovebird crooned as they went in for a smooch.

In a dark study, surrounded by dusty tomes and ancient grimoires, a young man in an ugly suit
lifts his head out of a particularly old book.

“I would like—if I may—to take you on a strange journey.”

Suddenly, Amy. “Who are you talking to, Chrono-kun?”

Oh crap. “Uhh… no one, Amy! Just recording a file, that’s all!”

“Why are you dressed like that?” Amy peered at the strange clothing her husband was wearing.
It was gaudy as anything, and the ascot looked like some diabolical chicken ate his neck then
shat all over it.

Chrono, for his part, merely looked sheepish. “Err, I’m a Criminologist?”

“Ehh? Is that some special job for Enforcers?”

“Yes, Amy. A super secret job for Enforcers,” Chrono agreed far too quickly, nodding as he
gently pushed his curious wife out the study. “I still need to record the rest of the case, so
please excuse me.”

“Okay, Chrono-kun! Dinner will be ready soon, though!”

Chrono gave his wife a kiss just as he closed the door, sighing as he returned to his seat. He
loved that woman, really, but there were times her inquisitive nature got the best of her.

Oh balls the video was still recording.

“Err. An-anyways… It was a fairly ordinary night, when Yuuno Scrya and his fiancée Nanoha
Takamachi, two young, ordinary, healthy kids, left Cranagan that late November evening—or
was it August—to visit a Dr. Jail Scagiletti, ex-mad scientist, and now a (forced) friend to both
of them. It’s true, there were dark storm clouds, heavy, black, and pendulous, toward which
they were driving. It’s true also, that the spare tire they were carrying was badly in need of some
air. But, they being normal kids and on a night out, well, they weren’t going to let a storm spoil
the events of their evening.”

Chrono leaned forward as the camera zoomed in for dramatic effect.

“It was a night out… they would going to remember for a very. Long. Time.

Kraka-THOOM! Dramatic lightning!

“Chrono-kun! Dinner~!”

“Dad! Dad! It’s dinner!” The cry of his children was hard to ignore, as was their incessant
beating on the door.

“Yeah! Let’s go eat! Mom also says change before coming down!”

Chrono sighed. This seemed a good enough place to stop for now. He stopped the recording,
pulling off the heavy jacket and ascot as he double-checked his work—Dammit, he forgot the
title!

say to an anxiously waiting Nanoha, “Skillful way you beat the other girls to the bride’s
bouquet…”

“I~ love~ you~!” the two lovebird crooned as they went in for a smooch.

In a dark study, surrounded by dusty tomes and ancient grimoires, a young man in an ugly suit
lifts his head out of a particularly old book.

“I would like—if I may—to take you on a strange journey.”

Suddenly, Amy. “Who are you talking to, Chrono-kun?”

Oh crap. “Uhh… no one, Amy! Just recording a file, that’s all!”

“Why are you dressed like that?” Amy peered at the strange clothing her husband was wearing.
It was gaudy as anything, and the ascot looked like some diabolical chicken ate his neck then
shat all over it.

Chrono, for his part, merely looked sheepish. “Err, I’m a Criminologist?”

“Ehh? Is that some special job for Enforcers?”

“Yes, Amy. A super secret job for Enforcers,” Chrono agreed far too quickly, nodding as he
gently pushed his curious wife out the study. “I still need to record the rest of the case, so
please excuse me.”

“Okay, Chrono-kun! Dinner will be ready soon, though!”

Chrono gave his wife a kiss just as he closed the door, sighing as he returned to his seat. He
loved that woman, really, but there were times her inquisitive nature got the best of her.

Oh balls the video was still recording.

“Err. An-anyways… It was a fairly ordinary night, when Yuuno Scrya and his fiancée Nanoha
Takamachi, two young, ordinary, healthy kids, left Cranagan that late November evening—or
was it August—to visit a Dr. Jail Scagiletti, ex-mad scientist, and now a (forced) friend to both
of them. It’s true, there were dark storm clouds, heavy, black, and pendulous, toward which
they were driving. It’s true also, that the spare tire they were carrying was badly in need of some
air. But, they being normal kids and on a night out, well, they weren’t going to let a storm spoil
the events of their evening.”

Chrono leaned forward as the camera zoomed in for dramatic effect.

“It was a night out… they would going to remember for a very. Long. Time.

Kraka-THOOM! Dramatic lightning!

“Chrono-kun! Dinner~!”

“Dad! Dad! It’s dinner!” The cry of his children was hard to ignore, as was their incessant
beating on the door.

“Yeah! Let’s go eat! Mom also says change before coming down!”

Chrono sighed. This seemed a good enough place to stop for now. He stopped the recording,
pulling off the heavy jacket and ascot as he double-checked his work—Dammit, he forgot the
title!

impeccable Teana Lanster, sheepishly smiled as a great number of pictures (as well as parts of
her soul) were taken. Well-wishers and wedding guests cheered as the couple came out of the
church, though soon enough the groom and bride split to greet their guests.

“Teana! Congratulations!” A young man with blond hair, glasses, and a green suit, greeted.

“Thank you, Yuuno! Still got that suit I see. But yeah, I guess I really did it, huh?”

“I don’t think there’s any doubt about it,” the Librarian nodded. What was wrong with his suit?
“You and Subaru have been inseparable since boot camp and the Scaglietti Incident.”

“I wouldn’t have made it if it weren’t for her…”

Over by Subaru, a gaggle of girls giggled, “Okay, everyone! You all ready?”

“Looks like Subaru’s going to throw her bouquet,” Teana murmured, watching the women step
back and brace themselves.

“There!” Indeed, Subaru threw the bouquet behind her with all her might… meaning anyone with
any hope of getting it had to fly at supersonic speeds as the bouquet broke the sound barrier and
scattered any on-lookers from air pressure alone. They got a bouquet of steel flowers for this
reason, and they lasted forever, too. Someone had better grab it too, lest the bouquet hit
something with the power of an artillery shell.

It would be a solid five minutes before the lucky woman came back victorious, bouquet of steel
in her hands.

“I got it! I got it!” young Nanoha Takamachi cheered, pink wings still attached to her ankles.

“Hmm… maybe it could be your turn next, eh?” Teana grinned.

Yuuno smiled back with a shrug, “Who knows?”

Teana’s response was cut short by Subaru glomping her from behind and greeting Yuuno at the
same time. It was time to go.

“Well, so long. See you, Yuuno,” Teana winked and jumped on to a prepared motorcycle,
Subaru joining up behind her. With the guttural roar of the engine, the happily married couple
sped off at breakneck speeds. To the honeymoon!

Yuuno and Nanoha were left to wave goodbye to the departing dynamic duo. As the dust
settled, Nanoha turned to her childhood friend.

She handed one to Fate before sitting down on the couch opposite of her, across the coffee table. “But when she heard you’d be back from your mission today, she couldn’t wait to get home, so she decided to postpone it until tomorrow.”

Fate smiled as she accepted the tea, picturing how excited Vivio must’ve gotten when she heard the news. The girl had had come such a long way, grown so much since the JS Incident, and now she was as cheerful and as energetic as any other girl her age. “I can imagine,” she replied. She took a sip of her tea before speaking again. “How are you and Vivio doing? It must be a big change for you two now.”

“Its fine, its fine. We’ve been keeping busy,” Nanoha waved it off cheerfully. “Vivio’s keeping up on her studies and she’s been making friends at school. She’s been wanting to get a Device of her own, but I told her she needs to finish her training first.”

“Mmn,” Fate could see that. Nanoha always was strict with the girl, but she’d been getting better after the JS Incident and the events inside the Saint’s Cradle. “And what about you, Nanoha?” she asked, setting her cup down.

“I’m okay, Fate-chan,” she said, smiling at her friend before taking a sip of her own tea. “I haven’t been doing anything strenuous with my magic, even when I’m training with Vivio. I don’t want to get scolded by Shamal again, so I find things to busy myself with. There’s always something to do here.”

“That’s good,” Fate said, feeling a bit relieved at the admission. “I was a bit worried when I heard about your condition. I know how you tend to go overboard at times.”

At least Nanoha had the decency to blush at that.

“Mou, Fate-chan,” Nanoha pouted, before finally cracking a smile. “I’m not that bad.”

“Sure you aren’t, Nanoha.”

The two shared a laugh, and Nanoha drank some of her tea before continuing. “You’re always such a worrywart. I’ll be fine, Fate-chan, you’ll see. I’m more worried about you, really.”

“Eh?” Fate was caught off-guard. Why would Nanoha…?

“You’re always off on your own on your missions,” the other woman clarified. She didn’t look too concerned, at least, so maybe she wasn’t trying to bring up something important. “And you’re always taking up the long ones now, too. And with Erio and Caro moved out and on their own… I suppose I just wonder how you’re doing out there.”

Nanoha was right, of course—a lot of the missions she’d had taken up since the disbanding of Riot Force Six were long-distance ones that could take months at a time to complete. It wasn’t like she didn’t have good reason, at least; Nanoha and Vivio needed time to develop as a mother and daughter, and if Nanoha’s reassurances were any indication, it was certainly showing fruition. When Erio and Caro decided to become independent and so they wouldn’t worry her, she did feel hurt a bit, but she knew what they were trying to do and she gave them her blessing. It was strange to see Nanoha fret like this, so what was she getting at?

“I’m fine, Nanoha, really,” Fate assured her with a smile. “I can take care of myself. Honestly, what brought this on?”

“Nyahahaha. It’s silly, I guess,” Nanoha replied, leaning back against the sofa cushions. “I guess I thought it might get lonely for you out there all the time.”

Fate started a bit, caught off guard by her best friend’s statement. Lonely? For a moment, her cheeks colored—thankfully Nanoha hadn’t caught it. That word quickly brought back the memories of what had happened during the last mission, reminding her of the things that she had done—things that she shouldn’t have done.

“Yes. Lonely… I guess you can say it was lonely,” she said, quickly regaining Nanoha’s attention.

“Fate-chan?”

The blond-haired woman hiked up her leg up onto the couch and wrapped her arms around it, leaning her head back as she recollected everything that had occurred to her during the last mission. How could she explain it? She dreaded to think what her best friend’s reaction would be when she found out, but she knew that she wouldn’t leave Nanoha’s house—could not, in fact—without telling her what had happened.

“I’ll confess that I wasn’t really prepared for how long the mission would be,” she started, looking back to see Nanoha’s patient expression. Seeing it was affirming, and she pressed on. “I don’t know what changed things about it, but during the last mission, I was… lonely. Maybe it was because we were all together at Riot Force Six. But that doesn’t really excuse why I did what I did.”

“What do you mean?” Nanoha asked, cocking her head to the side.

Fate choked at that moment, but straightened up. “I did something I shouldn’t have,” she said, smiling nervously. She gathered up all her remaining courage, and took the plunge.

“I… I had an affair.”

Whoa, it`s not very often you can meet story with Fate having an affair. But, it`s make this story a very interesting piece of work. Though, I can understand why Fate decide to make a move - she is lonely, and as any human being she wanted to be loved.

A click. For a moment, Teana was hopeful, but that hope was dashed.

“Hi~! You’ve reached Subaru Nakajima’s answering machine! Sorry, I can’t talk at the moment,
but if you leave a message, I promise I’ll get back to you as soon as possible! Buh-bye~!”

Teana sighed, listening to the message in full before hanging up. She had no message to leave.

She dialed the number again. Four rings.

Pick up. Pick up already!

“Hi~! You’ve reached Subaru Nakajima’s answering machine! Sorry, I can’t talk at the moment,
but if you leave a message, I promise I’ll get back to you as soon as possible! Buh-bye~!”

Teana watched the recorded video of her friend, so cheerful and bright. It was that life that
propelled her from mere private to become the Ace of the Silver. It was almost impossible to see
Subaru without a smile, and it was just as impossible to not smile back.

She knew the number by heart. She wished she had called more often. It rang four times.

Come on, Subaru! Pick up!

“Hi~! You’ve reached Subaru Nakajima’s answering machine! Sorry, I can’t talk at the moment,

Teana stared at the video. Subaru was irreplaceable, and she seemed so strong, almost invincible.
How could anyone forget a girl like her?

Why would anyone want to forget?

Teana had countless pictures and innumerable memories, dozens of videos and a handful of written
letters, but it would be a long, long time before she could see her friend again, to hear Subaru
speak again.

She dialed the number.

As the phone rang, she looked at the article clutched gingerly in her hand. It was the obituaries.

Killed in the line of duty, sacrificing her life so that others may live.

And with Erio and Caro moved out and on their own… I suppose I just wonder how you’re doing out there.”

Nanoha was right, of course—a lot of the missions she’d had taken up since the disbanding of Riot Force Six were long-distance ones that could take months at a time to complete. It wasn’t like she didn’t have good reason, at least; Nanoha and Vivio needed time to develop as a mother and daughter, and if Nanoha’s reassurances were any indication, it was certainly showing fruition. When Erio and Caro decided to become independent and so they wouldn’t worry her, she did feel hurt a bit, but she knew what they were trying to do and she gave them her blessing. It was strange to see Nanoha fret like this, so what was she getting at?

“I’m fine, Nanoha, really,” Fate assured her with a smile. “I can take care of myself. Honestly, what brought this on?”

“Nyahahaha. It’s silly, I guess,” Nanoha replied, leaning back against the sofa cushions. “I guess I thought it might get lonely for you out there all the time.”

Fate started a bit, caught off guard by her best friend’s statement. Lonely? For a moment, her cheeks colored—thankfully Nanoha hadn’t caught it. That word quickly brought back the memories of what had happened during the last mission, reminding her of the things that she had done—things that she shouldn’t have done.

“Yes. Lonely… I guess you can say it was lonely,” she said, quickly regaining Nanoha’s attention.

“Fate-chan?”

The blond-haired woman hiked up her leg up onto the couch and wrapped her arms around it, leaning her head back as she recollected everything that had occurred to her during the last mission. How could she explain it? She dreaded to think what her best friend’s reaction would be when she found out, but she knew that she wouldn’t leave Nanoha’s house—could not, in fact—without telling her what had happened.

“I’ll confess that I wasn’t really prepared for how long the mission would be,” she started, looking back to see Nanoha’s patient expression. Seeing it was affirming, and she pressed on. “I don’t know what changed things about it, but during the last mission, I was… lonely. Maybe it was because we were all together at Riot Force Six. But that doesn’t really excuse why I did what I did.”

“What do you mean?” Nanoha asked, cocking her head to the side.

Fate choked at that moment, but straightened up. “I did something I shouldn’t have,” she said, smiling nervously. She gathered up all her remaining courage, and took the plunge.

“I… I had an affair.”
