I don't think so. They will definitely be better than in the past thanks to Capello, but they don't have enough cover. The first-teamers are great, but I have doubts about the likes of Heskey, Carragher and Wright-Philliphs.

And it seems that Rafa Benitez has left Liverpool, sad day for all the English team excluding Liverpool .

It's going to depend heavily on who meets who, don't think any favorite has an absolute advantage over all other teams. The usual suspects: Brazil has it's one of it's best defensive line ups in history. Even an average Brazilian offense is still dangerous. Spain's has probably the best around line up on paper. Argentina: The absolute wild card, either they will implode or win the cup. Where ever they end up going, with Maradonna as a coach it wont be quietly. Germany: Their shape and whether they look poor on paper doesn't matter because they are ze Germans Outsiders: Italy: Reigning world champion, experienced squad and coach, solid defense. Not in great form and lacking in creativity, but still a contender England: Good all round squad with a lot of creativity but midfield looks weak when not in possession. Netherlands: Great offense, average defense with no depth. The long shot Ivory Coast: Strongest African side on home continent, nearly every world had a surprise team going far. This might be their turn. |

i don't think Germany has that good of a chance. round of 16 or quarters is as far as they'll go. i think they have a weaker squad than previous years.
spain is favorite to win. Brazil has a good chance. they finally off loaded some passed its, and their defense is crazy. England don't have what it takes because its england. quarters at best. Netherlands have a decent chance if they get through the group stages without injuries. their first team rivals spain and brazil in talent. semis if they don't choke or break. France could be good, or really really bad. round of 16 exit for them i think. Portugal doesn't have enough depth. C.Ronaldo can only carry them so far. but "so far" may be quarters or semis. USA has the talent to go to the quarters. whether they can live up to that potential is another story.

kina, like how rio injured his knee? haha... oh united... I think theo should have made the squad as an impact sub. but i still respect Capello's decision. he hasn't evolved much as a player over the last year.

also, Rio out of world cup. FINALLY Gerrard will be the deserved captain (hopefully..) i wonder if Torres will stay at 'pool now.

Why do Chelsea's players always conveniently injured before their respective national games then magically recover for club matches? Now Drogba is out from Ivory Coast ...
And why do Arsenal players are conveniently reversed the situation above? It would be entertaining to watch Netherland's attacking quartet of RvP, Robben, Sneidjer and RvdV nevertheless.. And maybe Kuyt as well from the bench

Rebump for the new season
Kinny o Kinny where are ya ? I tried watching Man Arab vs S**s last night.. but I felt asleep in the 2nd half. And lastly, Arsenal announced their best signing ever this season. Arsene Wenger for another 3 years! W00t!

Kinny Riddle? I'm under the impression that he quit AnimeSuki in June last year after an ugly spat with moderators.
This year will be interesting, in terms of English football, as I will be "adopting" a single club, Liverpool, for the first time ever. Blame peer pressure at the office — plenty of guys here who insist that we'll "never walk alone" and all that jazz. |

Is it? Pity.. He was the flagship for Pool supporter here as I am the Gunners
There's a lot of surprise results last night. Most notable are Blackpool wins over Wigan by 4-0! Customarily, my small team will be Blackpool, apart from Arsenal.. Since Portmouth gets relegated. :3
