Exactly. I understand that the focus is on the lawyer, and there's a desire for him to experience the pain that the victim felt. Since he isn't a woman, the closest thing would be for him to experience it through his daughter. Yet to wish such a thing completely ignores the fact that his daughter is a living, feeling person who is separate from her father. Hell, she might even disagree with what her father said. Why wish ill upon her in any form? That is not right.

The kicker is that the Lawyer imply he wouldn't actually care if you harm his daughter. If he is being honest then it is no longer effective to use her as a proxy punishment. You need to harm what he cares about, and the safety of his female child apparently is very low on his list of priorities.

Ah, interesting responses from you all. My point was that it's easy to talk big about striking down those evil with vengeance and thinking of all sorts of exotic punishments for the terrible waste of life.

Of course, it's easier to talk about killing someone than actually killing someone. This is only natural. I assume the majority of you aren't sociopaths (or at least able to hide it). That being said, we can really see what the problem is allowing someone that does not respect these values to continue being in society. But at the same time, joining the lynch mob isn't really a good idea either.

But this is why we don't draw and quarter people anymore.

household earning of 150k+, that's the sum of his/her parents and his siblings(if they haven't live alone) earning too. Basically, the article is saying people who are born to medium to rich household is much more likely find employment, which actually happen all the time. It's just that the job market is not that good for the people who are born to less rich household currently compared to before the 2008 crisis.

Frictional or natural unemployment. At any given time a certain percentage of any income group is unemployed due to the time lag between jobs. A few weeks/months of unemployment will not affect their annual income significantly (especially with unemployment insurance).

Even with al the spying in the world you can't know everything and to expect to manage to stop any incident is pretty much utopic. And even with a situation as in Syria any president did care in more than two issues.
