I remember reading somewhere that the events take place in 1944?:

If I remember correctly the freeing of Romangna, which took place in season two, began in the Spring of 1945 and ends mid-summer of the same year? And then the movie took place some time after that. So as far as I can guess this series at least takes place between season one and two?

It was confirmed few months ago that this series is set between S1 and S2 of Strike Witches.
