I have to say, chapter 14 and 15 of the manga. I didn't realize that Eina was so cute. Maybe its because she was always hiding behind the glasses previously. That being said she looks way better without the glasses O_o

Anyway reading this today, I was just trying to think why do I intend to read the light novel (since its on my to read list). I couldnt remember why, because I really hate the protagonist stupid obsession. But with the maid showing up like that, I remembered. Because all the other characters are interesting! I want to know more about the other characters, like the dark horses amongst the maids O_O

Which I guess I should ask, are the maids dark horses like I suspect? Yes or no should suffice.

I don't know what you mean by dark horse, but these maids aren't just pretty flowers. Each of them are highly skilled adventurers and that maid who likes Bell, Seal I think, is way stronger than Aizu.

Her elf friend is an adventurer and a magician, but even she isn't anywhere near the league of Aizu and her friends.

Nope. So far, the only known adventurers among the maid is Ryuu - the elf maid - and she's only a Level 4, while Aizu just recently jumped to Level 6.

So far, the only on in the story that could be said as well above Aizu is Ottar from Freya's Familia.

awww, and here I was hoping the maids would be amazing (least 1 or 2 of them).. In the manga when it was said, "the owner hires anyone regardless of background".. I sorta hoped there would be someone amazing. I had thought the phrase to be a key line.

You think so ? Wasn't he being contained by another familia in V3, that led to Kanu and his crew stealing the minotaur and releasing it prematurely ?

Uh... From what I remember, Ottar trained the minotaur up and then release it. Nothing about Kanu and crew stealing it.

Kanu and his party took a roundabout way and circled to his back in the Dungeon. They aimed for a gap and instantly snatched the cargo away. Although a cold howl made his heart freeze, but it was better to say that was all. Ottar was currently being suppressed by the enemy forces and it was confirmed that he could not temporarily escape.

Kanu and the others hurriedly moved forward in the Dungeon. This size of a cargo box, even if they wanted to open up a distance, it was not so simple to transport. They must get away from here as soon as possible.

He had no doubt that this was a reward of a First-Class Adventurer. What great value would it bring, Kanu darkly thought to himself. A few days ago, he had snatched from a Hobbit that was once his companion……and obtained a Magic Sword. This time, it should be much better than that. His luck has come, and he firmly believed it.

After he made sure he was separated by a sufficient distance, Kanu and his party could not wait to open the cargo box and leaned over to take a peek.

To see the item that was locked inside the cargo box.

To see the Monster named Minotaur that had lost its freedom and was bounded by chains.

Without exception, the thoughts of the people at the scene were dyed completely white.

That's Ottar alone vs a legion of high level familia. And he probably intentionally let it escape knowing Bell is going to dive into the dungeon that day.

I was just counting the maid waitresses and not the owner so...

Anywho, guess I was wrong about Ottar. Though him being suppresed by enemy forces doesn't diminish his stance since him taming an Minotaur and trained it to ridiculous level is rather significant I think.

I was just pointing out that maybe there are stronger people than him. Also I highly doubt ottar had the foresight to release the minotaur at that time. It was a coincidence more than anything.

Yeah, I have to say he is a monster.

Even the adventurer that went one on one with Aizu, when Bell Aizu and Hestia were ambushed was a monster.

How is him alone vs a legions (that's more than one btw) fighting evenly means there are people stronger than him? I'm not saying that there aren't but this "proof" doesn't prove anything.

So he just "coincidentally" release a monster he trained vigorously for weeks just because? And even as at the same time, Freya already readied herself with a device she has to take some trouble to to obtain? If you say so.

I have thought the same for a while now, although presently it is only a feeling with only circumstantial evidence to back it up, and novels as yet untranslated (and thus unread) may have unknown to me already disproven this theory.

As already mentioned, the evidence is only circumstantial. Any piece by itself is minor enough to be readily dismissed; it is only the several pieces together that cause me to wonder and think that they could be evidence that the author is hinting at the idea that Seal is Freya in disguise. I am not 100% certain, but until Seal and Freya are seen together in the same place / time I will continue to be suspicious. And, in all honesty, some of the evidence could just as easily be explained by Seal being a significant / trusted member of Freya's familia.

In any case, my reasons, few though they are, are below:

Freya is described as having silver eyes and hair; Seal is twice similarly described as having gray hair and eyes (v1 c5 and v3 c4). In the latter instance (and several paragraphs after her hair is described as gray), her eyes are described as "pale gray."

That said, Seal's hair (and eyes) are remarkably flexible in their coloration. While the second and fourth time they are described as gray, the first time they are described as black (v1 c2: black hair, eyes described as the same color as her hair), and the third time her hair is described as "light-rust colored" (v2 c4). So the two instances of similarity with Freya's coloration may not mean anything. And, in any case, as potent as disguise magic has been shown to be, similarity in coloration is not enough to be considered evidence, although it makes for an interesting point to add to the other evidence.



Seal and Freya have never once been shown as being in the same place at the same time. As an example, in v1 c5 Bell is advised that Seal is not present - has in fact recently left the cafe - when it seems that Freya is at that same time on the floor above speaking to Loki.

Bell is told at that time that Seal's situation is different from that of the other workers: she lives apart from the cafe and is allowed to occasionally take leave for a vacation (such as to visit the Monster Festival in the Coliseum). (This difference is somewhat re-enforced in v3 c1, when Bell's thoughts regarding Seal are: "including Seal, whose history was extremely vague".)

Bell is then handed a purse she supposedly forgot and sent to the Coliseum to find her and return said purse to her. This scene may or may not be evidence, since it is unlikely that the other waitresses would be in the know as to Seal being Freya. On the other hand, if Freya (as Seal) stepped out with the intention of soon after returning to the cafe (as Freya) to meet with Loki, her leaving her purse behind could be understood as due to her expecting another opportunity to retrieve it, rather than forgetting it.



As Bell is being handed a purse and asked to return it to Seal, Freya is a floor above speaking to Loki about the first time she saw Bell. The text given could imply that she first saw him from the same location (ie: the 2nd floor of the cafe "The Mistress of Abundance," where Seal works).

As if she was trying hard to reproduce the encounter with him and looked at the scenery outside the window.

“At that time, it was also similar to the current scene……”

The daylight that came from the morning leaked out to the west side of the Main Street.

From the opposite side of the road, a boy was heading towards this direction.

Yes, just like right now, it was the same as the one running around within her visions.

This is all but confirmed in v2c3:

In the street where she had encounter him one-sidedly and had fallen in love with him at first sight.

In the shop that was opened there.

In v2 c3 it also reveals that when Freya is watching Bell, Bell notices:

“Ara? ……Nnn Fufu, he noticed again?”

In front of her sight, Bell, who had already became extremely small, suddenly stopped, and frequently turned his head around.

As if he was attacked by unease, and seemed to be looking for something. Freya narrowed her eyes and her smile became deeper.

This is important because the first time Bell is shown to have such a reaction (v1 c2) is also shortly before he first meets Seal:

“……! ?”

I furiously looked backwards.

Stopping my footsteps to look at the back.

……An unpleasant feeling. Although it was not the type where I detected killing intent, the slight breath was from a kind of powerful adventurer……Was I being observed?

A feeling of danger. Just like when you are assessing an item, ordinary people absolutely couldn’t imitate it, a relentless gaze.

A shop employee preparing to open up a sidewalk café, a team of two beastmen conversing in an alley, a girl looking onto the street from the second floor of a shop……That scenery appeared in my vision while I repeatedly shifted my vision to moving objects.

The "girl looking onto the street from the second floor of a shop" may or may not be Seal / Freya, given that not long after Bell mentions the girl he meets as one he saw trying to move a table (which presumably would have occurred on the first floor, albeit as this occurs a short while after this scene, it is possible both girls are the same person).



In v1 c6, Bell does not encounter Seal until after the situation Freya created at the Coliseum has resolved itself and Freya has left the high perch from where she watched Bell fight the silverback. Seal is also the one to diagnose Hestia as being unconscious due to fatigue, although this is probably not evidence, since Hestia should be as prone to exhaustion as any other deity or mortal upon the lower plane, and the symptoms should be the same - whether divine or moral.

On the other hand, her words to Bell as she leaves could suggest that she personally witnessed Bell's fight against the silverback: “……Although it was somewhat sloppy and rough, but Bell-kun, who courageously stood against the monster……completely captivated me.”



In v2 c2, after the "lost" dagger is returned to Bell:

Seal seemed to quietly observe Lili through the gap between the two paper bags she was carrying.

Soon, Ryuu used the excuse of that they are still shopping as a reason to say goodbye. Bell, once again, thanked the two of them. Ryuu nodded with an unchanging expression, while Seal claimed that she did nothing and gave a wry smile.

Then, Bell, in order for them to enter the alley again, moved away. At this moment.

Seal, slowly moved her mouth near Lili’s ears.

“——Don’t get too carried away okay?”

“!!”

Zoku, goosebumps appeared all over Lili’s body.

Her petite body swayed pitifully.

This could be seen as evidence that Seal knew that Lili was the one who had taken the dagger, despite Ryuu - who had actually attempted to apprehend the "hobbit" - having seemingly been successfully fooled by Lili's disguise magic. Freya's soul-sight might have allowed her to realize that the two were the same person. Even if that is not the case, more than once it has been stated that a deity can tell if a mortal is lying with a glance, and Lili has spoken more than once during this encounter between Ryuu, Seal, Lili, and Bell.



Finally, in v2 c3, when Freya decides to slip the magic tome to Bell at the cafe, it is Seal who is nearest the the tome when it is first noticed, and it is Seal who suggests - even insists - Bell borrow and read it.

As I said, each - individually - is too minor to be sure of anything. Combined, however, they seem to suggest that at the least Seal is more than she might appear, and possibly she is Freya in disguise.
