I never put two spaces after a period. I find it pointless. One is plenty.

Anyways, I imagine the reason why FF.net removes stuff like strings of punctuations is to cull out stuff like "OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Unfortunately it applies to legitimate punctuation such as !?

For scene breaks, use letters (such as X-X-X) to trick it into thinking it's a word.

I actually prefer the lines to what I typically use in the drawing stages: bolded 0s, spaced apart. It's kind of reassuring to know it'll become uniform once I upload it.

Perhaps it's just me, but for the longest of time in FF.Net I find it weird that it's easier to find other people's stories (From Favourites etc) inside my account than my own. In fact, I couldn't find the FF.Net link to my own stories from my account, discounting Live/Preview.

Checking the document I uploaded for chapter 2... it has in fact removed the three "!?" I put in, so no, they haven't changed it back. *sigh*

It's all Dezo's fault...or you can thank him for it , but it is no longer "give me a couple of weeks" to come up with something, but more like...40 minutes . I was going to go to bed, but then I read his review of "Prerogative of the Brave", Chapter 2, and a need to justify his very constructive criticism spawned a plotbunny and so I had to scribble it down. It was long, too .

So I now have a story outline that both covers Nanoha and Fate's initial talks, and their later talks leading all the way up to Day 1 of PotB, and even the first time Fate realized that Vivio's feelings were serious, to boot.

Of course, sadly, no time . So I guess it's not much better than having nothing?

It depends on what you like about it, I think. On the one hand, it's a story about Lutecia and her struggles to balance out her life between a work she's good at, sort of likes, yet hates terribly, and her relationship with Vivio who makes her feel the complete opposite of what she suffers through every day at work as a Shadow. And how all those emotional contradictions are tearing Lutecia apart, and her long journey to fixing herself over it.

And on the other hand, it's a political spy-thriller where half the TSAB gets painted black or dark shades of gray, and good people do terrible things and the authors giggle madly about it .

Hayate had broken Vivio’s heart on purpose many years ago, because she did not want Vivio to be with someone like her.

Instead, Vivio ended up just like Hayate.

Hayate saw Nanoha’s jaw clench in frustrated anger as Vivio stayed out yet another night, sleeping with whatever girl or boy the blonde happened to pick up for the evening. She saw Fate’s heartbreak as her friend glanced at the old pictures on the fireplace mantel, with a smiling Vivio at fifteen dressed proudly in her military uniform. The pictures ended there.

Vivio wasn’t a TSAB officer anymore.

She went to university though, which was something. Vivio was getting excellent grades, despite her appalling social lifestyle. Indeed, they had all known that Vivio was brilliant if she really applied herself.

Vivio had ended up just like Hayate.

Brilliant and capable, but for absolutely nothing of value. Oh, yes, fulfillment in life didn’t come from romantic love alone. It wasn’t like Hayate found no meaning in life.

But it’s the idealism.

It’s the dreams.

It’s believing that yes, the impossible can be done.

I can do the impossible.

It’s caring about tomorrow beyond the fact that it’s coming.

The last thing Hayate had ever wanted was to see Vivio broken on the inside, disillusioned and bitter enough to not bother fixing the important things in her life. Because who really cared about grades, or military ranks, or diplomas? The valuable light in a person’s eyes when they woke in the morning, that drove them out of bed with a smile and looking forward to a new day—that was important.

Days blurred for Hayate. It really didn’t matter what day it was. Day in, day out, work…it was all the same.

And if Hayate had a heart to break, hers would have broken at the sight of Vivio going through life carelessly, charming and fooling everyone who didn’t know her. But Hayate had given up her right to feel sad, or ashamed, or guilty a long time ago.

So she watched.

As High Marshal, Hayate watched over everything and everyone. She didn’t miss a thing.

So Vivio flirted and seduced and fucked lovers carelessly, her beautiful eyes cool under the mask. She wasn’t waiting for her true love. She wasn’t waiting for an epiphany, an angel, a salvation.

And Hayate watched.

It was a good reminder—that the woman who was Hayate Yagami was alive only to repay the world what she owed.

There was only one salvation Hayate longed for.

But she would never deserve it.

Actually, to keep the double-space, you/they need to trick your browser, as web browsers truncate double-spaces by default.

Much as I'd like to think FF.net agrees with me on any point.

Wow, perfect. This should be made canon in your files, just an alternate universe to keep the er, plot bunnies dancing xD. One day you'll read them back and find how remarkably possible both stories are, how the turning points in life could determine happiness and sadness.

For me, the possibilities are exactly why I started writing 'The Two Goddesses' and dreamed of 'The Shard of Miracles'. Despite the two golden rules in Nanoha's world 'Cannot go back in time' and 'Cannot change one's past' (Think I got one wrong, but I'll remember some time later), do you still believe in possibilities for a better future?

In all seriousness, though, a very lovely piece and a rather dark look at the outcome of the Hayate x Vivio chronicles as a whole, if Hayate ever chose to go down that route believing it was best for Vivio. Talk about the best intentions backfiring in the worst way possible!

And then Lutecia comes along and makes it all better and... *SHOT*

Aside from that, you could just as well make this AU of the chronicles, if you want to. I did that with the "Sunset" universe and "Borderline".
