Yes, the shield is embedded in the stand. It's an acrylic rod, the shield (which I didn't allow the paint to fully cure for a week and/or I didn't clear coat the damn thing before encasing it). It is encased in several layers of clear resin. The process took a few weeks. I'll have a blog post detailing the process with pictures up tomorrow hopefully.
Thanks, glad you guys like it. BTW, there are 36 LEDs inside the thing too.

Here's a quick little video I did a few days ago to show off the lights. I've gotten most of the lights on the thing with the exception of the mono eye, as my batteries for that LED were out.

Don't know about the ReZEL, but the HGUC Nu Gundam is a nice kit to both build and display. It's just a really inarticulate kit though due to its antiquated joint design (and this is a kit made within the last decade ).
