I have gotten the impression from ufoUBW-related interviews that Nasu just wanted to seperate the stories, in other word making the order in which you watch it irrelevant because both are essentially self-contained stories, as far as Nasu is concerned. Though one thing that you'll only understand in HF with knowledge from Zero (assuming someone is ufo-anime-only) is the Azoth dagger (IF it's not replaced for some reason). Otherwise it would just be some "random dagger" that Shirou gets from Rin. And who knows. Maybe they'll add in a scene like Kotomine after falling down due to "running out of time" gets finished by Shirou using the dagger. After all he has it and has literally NO REASON not to use it. Just to make sure he is REALLY dead this time. It's still strange to me that he didn't pull it out during the battle. Well one reason might be it being out of mana or something but still...

From what I remember, In Fate Shirou receives the dagger from Rin before he goes to confront Kotomine. I think he uses it to kill Kotomine in de final and Kotomine comments on it being ironic that he dies by same dagger which he used to kill Rin's father or something.

The death of Saber, a constant presence and source of support and protection in the other two routes and who's presence you've grown to take for granted, is the first shocking swerve of the route, the first sign that nothing is going to be the same anymore.....

Canadian premiere today. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed, but then again I already played the VN. I know first hand how people familiar with the source material always have qualms about the adaptation, but it really does feel unsatisfying. Fight scenes are the highlight as always, and they decently made things understandable even to the newbie viewer, but the climax didn't feel like a climax at all.
I suppose it is to be expected for a multi-part movie series, but all that said, I really do think Sakura's route is the penultimate route. I personally think Rin's the most waifu of the heroines, but I have always believed Shirou belongs together with Sakura, and I'm just thankful for the adaptation. Don't think my money was wasted, but I wouldn't rewatch this one until I can watch the trilogy all at the same time.

I felt the Saber/ALter scene was a little too PEACEFUL/tranquil, I was kind of expecting like how Irisviel being dragged into darkness and as the taint ends with her becoming Alter.

Ah finally watched it in the cinema myself. Very nice quality as expected from ufotable. Glad they speed up the beginning part in that school and the whole getting contracted to Saber. We've watched that enough.
Do we have any release date rumor for part 2 though? Other than being in 2018

I really liked the way they showed us how Sakura gradually managed to make a place for herself in Shirou's home, and in his heart.
Lancer vs True Assassin was a great fight. Perhaps too great. I thought they made True Assassin look more impressive than he is supposed to be.
