they don't really have much bgm in this series, but when Maruo is thinking at the end is great.

And he won't have to go against Federer, Cilic already took care of that, so there's a good chance he actually wins.

^ but Federer is no longer the dominating player he was before (age & compound injuries) , and it's a bit of a weird statement, after all Nishikori already defeated Djokovic the #1 seed and #1 in the world right now. I understand the sentiment though, the Federer Express already has a lot of history & achievements in his books.

anyway Kudos to Nishi. Guess with his increasing success & popularity we'll be seeing an increase in Baby Steps popularity (probly)

Wishful thinking IMO. Still, props to Kei, that's fantastic. I'm heartbroken for Federer as this was probably his last best chance, but I'll be rooting for Nishikori now.

So, the match finally ended, we also see Okada's performance.

Status charts are the thing. Next week is Megu-chan's 3 seconds of fame

Now that Maruo lost, does that mean that he will not be able to participate in the All-Japan tournament this year? He is still taking notes, so it makes it seem like he will have additional matches with other players; however, I thought this was a tournament, so shouldn't he already be eliminated?

We will finally get to see Natsu play in the 24th episode of a 25 episode series.... Really now... That's really shafting the main heroine in the series.

Maruo is the main character - the series is effectively a biography of him (practically an autobiography). Why is it strange that the action should center around him?

It's not strange that the action is centered around him. It is just strange that it took him this long to finally watch a match from his main love interest. It's been what? A year?

He's watched her play a couple of times, actually. It's just that she won so easily the matches hardly took any screen time.

Strange. I guess I have to go find those episodes. I could have sworn that he never sees her matches since he is usually fighting his own battles, and she finishes before he has a chance to see. Otherwise, he would go back for training instead of seeing her matches. Oh well, I guess I'll look it up someday.

It's still a nice chance to potentially see some play from Natsu in what has been a while. The show is obviously about the MC, but it is nice to see how Natsu is doing from time to time. If we can spend some time looking at potential future opponents we can probably get a bit of one of her matches.

Rough way to go out for Maruo, but it can't be helped. Some sports may have video review of calls, but can't get one here. Did put himself into a corner that one wrong call could end the game for him. I think the guy making the call will be glad it's over anyways. Probably a tough match in that second half with so many of Maruo's shots being right near the lines.

Looking forward to Maruo being the one to lend moral support to Natsu for once.

Aside from what Guardian Enzo said about matches being too easy and thus not necessary to take up screen time, it won't make sense to give focus to Natsu without developing her opponent. A match will only be interesting if we can see what the other side is thinking. If the author does that too much, it will detract the focus from Ei-chan's story. If the author gives too much focus to Natsu's matches without developing the opponent, it will just be a different face given a name and that'll be boring. However, there will be more focus on Natsu's matches later when she plays tougher games against an opponent that's worth developing. But, we will never see it in anime. T_T

So, Aoi finally debuted (but since Megu-chan is cute, we'll go with this).

Eichiro gets to Natsu's game, and catches her on a really bad position (she was basically against a match point). Seeing the similarities between Natsu's current position and his Nabae game, he sees just how right her "you can win" advice truly was; as Na-chan's goes from a losing position to a landside victory.

After that, we have Eichiro's usual obsession with practice; and as he was obviously overdoing he meets with an old guy named Aoi, a fated meeting that will change his future as much as his meeting with Na-chan did, starting by Aoi "forcing" Eichiro to spend a wonderful afternoon.

The next episode looks really promising ♪♪

Season 2 confirmed to air in Spring 2015!

Anyways, the next arc should be exciting since it's from one of my favorites in the manga.
