Side note - I'm just wondering how ANY of the male OC's can function in a normal society. Look at the list:

Marvelous Maximillian - 19 year old teacher and combat tactician who teaches probably the most anti-male and dysfunction junction class.

Kyuukai Tokiwa - 17 year old combat engineer and specialist agent.

Irish - 14 year old Gynophobic child terrorist with mental issues.

Octans - 17 year old engineer who's grown disillusioned with life.

Inami Arisawa - 16 year old power armor pilot that constantly deals with danger.

I'm beginning to think of that myself...

There's a difference between fanfics and reality you know. Besides, the society in Infinite Stratos is almost completely different from ours.

Finally got a part of Ch 4 done. As most know I usually start a chapter with a flash back, this is no different.

This is a flash back of when Ichika was inside the hospital. He had the IS core installed in his chest and was now in stable condition. For ten days he was in medically induced coma, the doctors had said that he should be waking up shortly for all his vitals and brain functions were fine, but he would not wake for twenty more days.

Spoiler for Second Chance Ch 4 excerpt:

Thanks to Blitz for some of the medical terms and stuff.

So what do you guys think? Ch 4 will be about how Ichika adjusts to his new IS and how he is preparing for the fight against Cecillia, as well as the mystery of the left arm weapon. Any ideas?

How do you write with so much detail though? I need to learn as well since almost all my drafts/chapters are pretty undetailed.

Maximillan survives perfectly well. He learned how to command units while playing computer games and studying mathematical game theory, not first hand experience. So while he does not know every trick in a guerillas book, he's had a normal life up till now.

Normal Metroid life that is, which isn't normal in IS world, but its very similar to our's.

Heh heh. I'm on the road to publishing my first novel, so I did a lot of research on writing styles.

To include detail I usually do it from the characters point of view in ways that we also notice details. Like when we step into a hospital room my attention is usually on the tech before the actual person.

Also, reality in the text is slower than the reality we perceive so slow down and think things through.

Your first novel? How old do you have to be to legally publish one? My friend wants to do one as well based on horror mythology but he doesn't know the age requirement and the procedures required.

Unfortunately, Almost all my novel researxh come from light novels or casual novels so all my drafts end up looking choppy.

You can publish a novel at any age. One author that I like reading published her first book (which was a bestseller) when she was eleven.

I find that light novel style is a lot more casual and comfortable to read than strict novels.

Light novel style is easier to emulate for me since I'm just a novice fanfic author, I'll probably switch to strict novel style when I reach 20 years old or something.

Well, Inami does lead a normal life. He's just used to lived off his days in a base since he has nowhere else to go.(In Athena Bouclier that is)

Now that he has Tsurugi with him, they'll pretty much live their lives as per normal.

Irish is probably the only one who's lost his chance at a normal life considering his background. All the other OC's are relatively sane at the very least and don't treat knives like they're safety blankets.

Other than IS, they talk about space-related stuff, probably go watch some sci-fi movie and talk about the technology. It is not a real date after all. They spend most of their time talking about normal stuff.

Edit: Dating stuff, watch movie, eating together, going into amusement park..... but in a non-romantic context.

For additional stuff, you can have Yuu and her Sempai (CASAIO's Representative, aka the other user of Tamahagane) following them until they found out that it is only "technically" a date and not a real one.... there is no kiss, no hand-holding, no hugging...etc.

As a joke, Yuu's sempai's name is not mentioned but refer as Yuu's sempai, pilot of Asura Revive, CASAIO's Rep.

Nobody remember her name because every battle that Asura Revive took part in is so horrifying brutal that the machine itself leave a deeper impression on others than the Pilot.

Personality-wise she is a normal sane person, the straight man to Yuu. Probably another reason why people don't really remember her that well. However she has the tendency to fantasize... which is why she and Yuu is following them...

Most likely the fact that in your story it's a major source of angst and depression rather than the usual fluff it's presented as.

The sounds were of a person in a hospital, with an oxygen mask as well as other machinery that was connected to that person; each telling heart rate, brain function, blood nutrition levels, dextrose IV levels, Heparin light doses, and various other things. The person was in a white hospital bed, with purple hair and a soft pale face. After nearly a month of no exercise, the muscles on the person decreased, making an almost androgynous view. There was a blanket that reached up to the chest, covering the person’s legs. His arms were folded parallel to body, but the thing that caught most people was the fact that there was a hole in the hospital gown. The hole revealed a glowing green orb that was imbedded into the person. Numerous wires ran out of this orb into other computers, each one have complicated green characters and bars scrawling across the screens. This person was Orimura Ichika, the brother of Chifuyuu. After a hostage situation gone wrong Ichika was hurt fatally, but due to a revolutionary surgery (some called it an experiment), Ichika had an IS core installed within his body. It was supposed to help him… But he was unconscious for over a month now, ten days of which were medically induced, but the doctors stated that they had removed the drugs so Ichika should be awakening soon. That was twenty days ago. Chifuyuu didn’t think about that. She just wanted to spend time with her brother, time that should have been spent over the last few years when Ichika had been taking care of himself essentially. He never complained, always saying that he understood. Chifuyuu moved slowly to Ichika’s bed side, and softly sat on a chair that was adjacent to the bed. Carefully she took Ichika’s hand and gripped it gently. “So soft…” she whispered. Ichika’s hands used to strong and full, but now there were bony and thin. Still holding his hand, Chifuyuu put her other hand into her purse and extracted a book. It was a small paper back book, yellow on the edges with age. Most people had turned their physical books into electronic ones, so paper books were a rarity in places other than schools. This book was different though. This was Ichika’s favorite book as a child. It was called “The Sword of the Samurai” a book about a shonen hero during the Feudal ages who used his sword and fighting skills to protect his family, king, and village from evil forces. It was a very cliché book that had only good endings, but the younger Ichika had loved it. He read his first book to pieces, and then bought a new one. Chifuyuu turned the pages to a place where she marked with a folded edge. She began to read. Chifuyuu had been reading to Ichika for a month now, always reading one chapter. She knew that he didn’t hear, yet this made her feel better- that maybe he would wake up. The chapter was a climatic one. The hero had just fended off thousands of troops single handedly, with only his skills and holy sword, during the battle the only thing on his mind is whether his lover had escaped safely with the rest of the village. After this miraculous victory, the hero returns to the king’s palace. The king offers him two gifts: for the hero to marry his daughter and to take a new sword that was forged by the king’s greatest smith himself and would place him in the kings own elite samurai But the hero refuses to marry the king’s daughter for he already has a woman who he will love to death. The king understands, but asks him to see the sword and take it. The hero agrees to see the sword. He looks over the sheath and hilt. He says he will not take it. The king thinks that the hero will not take the sword for it is not as good as the hero’s sword. The king asks the hero to at least take off the sheath. Chifuyuu’s reading faltered. She remembered this part well. Ichika read the next lines constantly. He read it out loud, as if he wanted to memorize it, imbed it in his brain, make it his life’s mantra. Chifuyuu took a breath and continued: “But the samurai shook his head. He bowed and handed over the sword. The king looked at the warrior in surprise. ‘Do you mock me?’ asked the king, ‘At least unsheathe the blade! It is of equal quality to the blade you use now!’ ‘I cannot unsheathe the blade my lord,’ said the warrior as he bowed his head deeper. ‘Why is that?’ asked the king. ‘When one unsheathes a blade for the first time, they are accepting all that entails: the protection of their own pride, their families pride, their master’s pride, their peoples pride, and much more. Such a blade that your majesty has presented me, I cannot accomplish-’ ” Chifuyuu stopped reading… For she suddenly felt something grip her hand. She looked down at her own hand that was holding Ichika’s- He was holding back. “ ‘all that this sword demands of me’ ” In a weak feeble force Ichika had talked. He had finished the line that he had carved into his heart and mind. Thanks to Blitz for some of the medical terms and stuff. So what do you guys think?
