That was a very satisfying chapter overall in my opinion, it did something no other event has managed to done in the course of the series, it saw the Natsu grow as a character and a person. Looking forward quite a bit to the next one now, three chapters, oh boy...

That was a little sad really. I wanted to see Natsu vs Gildartz. If he beat him then he truly had the right to be S class, but I am just dreaming it probably won't happen

Remember the law of shounen: the hero doesn't beat the master until near the end (if at all), when there's a world impending crisis or something. The exception is if the master goes down while trying to take out the big bad himself/doing some sort of great mission, giving the hero a power-up in one form or another

A bit of a cop out, I think. This whole first section of the trial was supposed to be about combat, with losers not advancing. But at least Natsu didn't "win" and Gildartz reputation is held intact. We still need to see him go all out against something to really show why he's the strongest.

Gildartz also seems to be a good choice for leader of Fairy Tail. I speculate that when gramps does pass on, Gildartz will take up the mantle for awhile, with perhaps Lacus taking over sometime in the future when he's fully redeemed himself.

Obvious fanservice is obvious. Seriously? I can kinda accept the bikinis, but why the hell did they have to take them off?

And I'm more interested to see how the other fights turn out, than I was about Natsu vs. Gild. Particularly Erza vs. Lisanna/Juvia. Three chapters sounds nice, but i have a distinct feeling that two of the chapters will be devoted to a sidestory. :x

Honestly, this was about the ONLY way Natsu could pass this portion, every indication pointed to Gildatlz being overwhelmingly more powerful, and this chapter only confirmed that.

It is character growth for Natsu, and tells us exactly how strong Gildaltz is.

So now Natsu and Kana's teams have passed, next weeks issue being 65 pages is awesome.

Obvious fanservice is obvious. Seriously? I can kinda accept the bikinis, but why the hell did they have to take them off?

They just finished coming off the beach and are most likely still covered in tons of salt, and their clothes were hanging nearby so they'll obviously get changed afterwards. Yes it was obvious, but not illogical in any event. And also, have to disagree with you about this being a test of pure combat, Gildartz states as much to Natsu near the end, if anything the whole trial is about grooming the candidates to become S-Class more then actually testing how strong they already are.

Nah maybe Erza but not everyone we've seen. Not even all the S class mages either

If they are dressed differently next time we see them, then perhaps. Although I don't recall them bringing clothes with them. That said, a quick dip in an island spring would be enough to wash the salt and sand off. Still, I won't make too big of a fuss over this.

And I'd have to go back a few chapters, but I believe it was specifically stated to be a combat test. That was the whole reason that some of the teams would meet each other, fight, and only one team would go past. And that the S-class people wouldn't be going full out, which means a win would be a pass, while a loss wouldn't.

Anyway, like Xellos said, it was a possibility we did see coming, and I'm not totally against it.

I seriously doubt anyone actually expects them to outright beat any of the S-Class, and Natsu for all intents and purposes did pass in that respect by pushing Gildart's back a step. Beyond that, its more likely that Markov only mentioned having to win in order to motivate them to go all out, ultimately its the S-Class who know what all the rules and requirements are.

Both Lucy and Kana were carrying bags, and if people would tear their eyes away from Cana's bust and Lucy's rear for a moment, they'd notice that Cana's wearing pants, and there's a shirt on the branch behind her, and the bag Lucy was carrying is on a branch behind her. They aren't bathing, they're drying off and changing into more practical clothes after the swim to the beach, and the drenching Aquarius gave them. Though I suppose that might be a waterfall behind them that they used for a quick rinse.

Chapter 206 was cool, I really like the fight between Gildartz and Natsu.
Gildartz looks awesome! He's really one of the best fighters of Fairy Tail!
The fan service is a bit annoying but well, it's an habit...

3 chapters next week it will be really cool!
