Behind me, Smith and Wesson prepared their Linebackers. These rifle-like Twin Intelligent Devices, from which they got their moniker, are powerful medium to long range weapons designed for casting various ranged attack and buster spells. Smith and Wesson carry one rifle each, the Linebacker R and the Linebacker L respectively. While similar in appearance, each rifle is distinguished by their cartridge systems, the R using an eight-round swing-out revolver system, and the L using a six-round magazine-fed automatic system. This reflects Smith and Wesson’s complementing specialties when it comes to shooting spells: Smith relies on heavy hitting barrage and buster spells at the cost of range, while Wesson uses less powerful, yet farther reaching precision shot spells, most capable of S-class accuracy.

“Lina, wake up now! We got work to do!” Smith called out as he tapped his Linebacker.

Lina is the name of the Linebacker AI, which possesses its own holographic humanoid form, as a small, armor clad little girl which just appeared between Smith and Wesson, holding an oversized rifle like a pillow.

Supposedly, she is the Linebacker’s targeting AI, providing the two with much needed shooting information, such as target range and windage.

Unfortunately, I have yet to gauge her individual combat effectiveness for a simple reason:

“Mmmmmmm Not nooow…” She murmured, then vanished.

“No use Wes, still sleepy…”

“…

Hopeless.”

I think I nearly tripped myself just standing up. What the hell Glock?! Giving your team such a handicap, since when did you become this reckless?!

“Don’t worry… I have every intention of fighting in the frontline to face all of you personally.”

Then I realized… from the configuration of their devices, Smith and Wesson are ranged Midchilda spellcasters. Mai, Midchild Chaos user, specializing in powerful short ranged attacks, no different from me in that aspect.

“I hate to admit it, but that’s a fair rule for Mr. Clerk Kent.”

That was Asuka, piping up using my voice in Possession, and I can count on her to know what I was thinking in the battlefield.

“Giving yourselves a VIP handicap forces those two Line Bakas-“

“LineBackers!”

“Whatever, to cover Glock at all costs, limiting their offensive and mobility options, giving us a fighting chance against them. And if Mr. Kent doesn’t run and hide, he’ll have to face the three of us in combat. “

Couldn’t have said it better myself. And this challenge was making me more excited. But first, I need to gather intel on those two. Telepathy Time.

I had asked Shinji minutes ago to check up on Smith and Wesson’s profile on Glock’s personal records. Unlike with official documents, Glock records spell lists, making them useful for gauging up the strengths of those he’s profiled. Sorry Glock, but I’m not losing today, and I'm taking no chances in order to do that.

The blade bits stopped and bonded together; armor plates materialized and clanged into place.



The rest of the Wolkenritter could only stare in shock and awe, jaws glued to the floor.

These rifle-like Twin Intelligent Devices, from which they got their moniker, are powerful medium to long range weapons designed for casting various ranged attack and buster spells. Smith and Wesson carry one rifle each, the Linebacker R and the Linebacker L respectively. While similar in appearance, each rifle is distinguished by their cartridge systems, the R using an eight-round swing-out revolver system, and the L using a six-round magazine-fed automatic system. This reflects Smith and Wesson’s complementing specialties when it comes to shooting spells: Smith relies on heavy hitting barrage and buster spells at the cost of range, while Wesson uses less powerful, yet farther reaching precision shot spells, most capable of S-class accuracy.

“Lina, wake up now! We got work to do!” Smith called out as he tapped his Linebacker.

Lina is the name of the Linebacker AI, which possesses its own holographic humanoid form, as a small, armor clad little girl which just appeared between Smith and Wesson, holding an oversized rifle like a pillow.

Supposedly, she is the Linebacker’s targeting AI, providing the two with much needed shooting information, such as target range and windage.

Unfortunately, I have yet to gauge her individual combat effectiveness for a simple reason:

These rifle-like Twin Intelligent Devices, from which they got their moniker, are powerful medium to long range weapons designed for casting various ranged attack and buster spells. Smith and Wesson carry one rifle each, the Linebacker R and the Linebacker L respectively. While similar in appearance, each rifle is distinguished by their cartridge systems, the R using an eight-round swing-out revolver system, and the L using a six-round magazine-fed automatic system. This reflects Smith and Wesson’s complementing specialties when it comes to shooting spells: Smith relies on heavy hitting barrage and buster spells at the cost of range, while Wesson uses less powerful, yet farther reaching precision shot spells, most capable of S-class accuracy.

“Lina, wake up now! We got work to do!” Smith called out as he tapped his Linebacker.

Lina is the name of the Linebacker AI, which possesses its own holographic humanoid form, as a small, armor clad little girl which just appeared between Smith and Wesson, holding an oversized rifle like a pillow.

Supposedly, she is the Linebacker’s targeting AI, providing the two with much needed shooting information, such as target range and windage.

Unfortunately, I have yet to gauge her individual combat effectiveness for a simple reason:

That was Asuka, piping up using my voice in Possession, and I can count on her to know what I was thinking in the battlefield.

- Well, I'm not 100% sure on that Dark Knight's full-concept yet... there are basic templates, but not enough to fully conjure a working history. The summoner's is easier, since his summoning are pretty much mini-versions of the Collosi from Shadow of the Colossus, and a history of something tribal are generally easier to pull out from the hat.

As for why mini-versions, you should know if you played the game, but the bosses there are HUGE. Freaking huge.

Inside, one Steve Whifield was sweating buckets, his grin plastered to his face. Who wouldn’t be, when in his hands lies the biggest ticket to a fat paycheck and sky-high rank?

That “ticket” was a non-descript brown paper folder resting on the left front seat, and due to the agent’s rough driving, a page has slipped out of the swelling file. It read:

Abstract: the Regional Guard

It appears we have a case against the meddling Saint Church, General Regius. The self defence proposal being lobbied for by the Church in the Secretariat has been realized without prior approval. While most of the force are merely recycled troops from worlds once under the Holy Velka Imperium, there are some advanced elements that have been developed under TSAB’s noses, right here on Mid Childa.

These are the units currently available to the Velka SAR:

Infantry

As it is with most guerilla forces, the Regional Guard has much emphasis on this arm of a force. Half of the types are legal and approved; the rest either were absorbed from other planets, or were mash-ups of local weekend warriors and reservists aptly called Militia.

Spellblade Militia



An idea first created by a genius, and then was taken up by the Church for wider use. The Spellblades are a mixed-up bunch of Velka warriors operating in groups of 9 unless assigned with a Confessor leader. Essentially, they are well-trained and zealous church-goers who have passed through the rigorous Knight training program of the Saint Church. These melee mages have a kind of “Charge” ability, called Greller Schritt, which allows them to close with targets quickly and wreck havoc. They can also rappel out of their Carryalls into buildings to clear and capture the target. The Spellblades are truly the perfect urban warrior, though somewhat lacking in training.

Squad size = 10 (9+1 Confessor)

Gunslinger Militia



While these rare individuals are outcasts in wider society, the Saint Church has promised to change that, and created this unit. Focusing on an old Velka martial art known as Gun-fu, these ranged Velka are the rangers and snipers of a force dominated by close-combatants. As we are a mostly-ranged force, and the Gunslingers are harder to come by, taking this type of unit out should be one of the top priorities of a Mid Childa commander.

Squad size = 3 (2+1 Confessor)

Knight-technician



The combat-engineer stratagem of the Velka, a KT is able to make repairs to structures vehicles, devices and knight armors on the fly, and is often deployed together with mechanized units. Unlike their holy counterparts, which hardly number enough to make a company on any planet, KT’s cannot heal people.

Squad size = 1

Red Dragoon



Armed with mass-produced Staves of Onyxia, these spearmen from the 66th AW use the red flames of dragonfire to roast other mages and cook closed spaces, and often aid the Spellblades in urban ops.

Squad size = 6

Persocon Team



Cousins of the Persocon Linda Zwei, these lolis don’t seem like much, they have been called maids with swords after all, but their bite is much more than their bark. Each individual in a squad unit is also equipped with a powerful self-destruct system, which they use in suicide attacks when the need arises.

Squad size = 5.

Silent Trinity



Little is known about these Trinities, but I’ve managed to turn out that these are Trinities that have perfected the art of Gun-fu AND stealth, and are collectively under Saint Church’s Inquisition Charter. Knowing how to fly is another pre-requisite for inclusion into this shadowy unit.

Squad size = 3.

Trinity Optimum



These are the best of the best, equipped with the best equipment and are so hard to come by that usually only one is available per battle force. Of the standing Regional Guard on Mid Childa, there is only one such unit, and it’s the most famous of all: The 21este Dreikeiten Optimum, led by the Messiah of New Velka, Kha der Kleriker.

Squad size = 5 (3 + 1 Confessor + 1 Tsukaima)

Armor

Aibamashin Attack Bike



Hailing from the 36th AW, Meros, these Meros Warriors are known for their collective ability to hear the “Melody of Oblivion”, a song that is sung by the God Empress on her Golden Throne lost somewhere in space. While they are armed with swords that can morph into longbows, these Meros Warriors can also take to the skies and challenge our airborne units, for their Aibamashin can also fly and operate in vacuum and void. However, the protection on this unit is very lacking, and one direct is usually enough to shoot them down.

Like other some of the other vehicular units, the Aibamashin also carries a sensor pod that can be ejected and attached to the ARX-79[G] Avatar arm slaves.

Raven Buggy



These are basic and fast 4WDs that are the preferred ride of the Spellblades and the Gunslingers. Each one is armed with a small caliber Scorpion-2 laser CIWS tuned to fast impulse shots that is effective against personnel and light armored flying craft.

Scorpion-2 Main Battle Tank



Developed on the 37th AW. Moderately armored, but light and fast, these high speed vehicles are much more of large caliber laser guns on tracks than armored tanks. The purpose of existence of these tanks seems to be to serve as mid-ranged mobile fire-support platforms to other frontline units.

Dragon Immolator Tank



Another component of the Velka Armor Divisions, this tank actually came from the days of the Holy Velka Imperium. It has since been upgraded with the latest systems, and with the Immolators becoming detachable to be used by the Avatar, but the essential carriage design remained the same.

Spider Stealth Tank

As such, the Velka SAR has developed bipedal war machines that are more advanced than the Tripartite has ever built. They may be primarily armed with only a vibro-blade, a beam rifle sidearm and a tower shield hardpoint mounted onto their right shoulder, but their Phase Shift armor is next to diamond hard, and their 3rd generation myomer fibers offer superb mobility. Their Lambda field defence systems grant these units even more survivability on top of all that.

It seems that the Ancient Velka Armed Device Laevantine had data sealed within that helped perfect the Arm Slave design.

The Avatars can also be deployed in threes from command ships via drop pods.

Several Regional Guard vehicles are designed to be able to detach a part of them for use of the Avatar out in field. These are the:

- Aibamashin Attack Bike’s sensor pod
- Dragon tank’s immolators
- Spider tank’s ECS camouflage package
- Pegasus artillery’s Spellforce sniper cannon

More are being developed as we speak.

It’ is deployed to swoop in in stealth, de-cloak, launch the torpedo, cloak and run to safety, hiding until the launcher is rearmed.

Abstract: the Regional Guard

It appears we have a case against the meddling Saint Church, General Regius. The self defence proposal being lobbied for by the Church in the Secretariat has been realized without prior approval. While most of the force are merely recycled troops from worlds once under the Holy Velka Imperium, there are some advanced elements that have been developed under TSAB’s noses, right here on Mid Childa.

These are the units currently available to the Velka SAR:

Infantry

As it is with most guerilla forces, the Regional Guard has much emphasis on this arm of a force. Half of the types are legal and approved; the rest either were absorbed from other planets, or were mash-ups of local weekend warriors and reservists aptly called Militia.

Spellblade Militia



An idea first created by a genius, and then was taken up by the Church for wider use. The Spellblades are a mixed-up bunch of Velka warriors operating in groups of 9 unless assigned with a Confessor leader. Essentially, they are well-trained and zealous church-goers who have passed through the rigorous Knight training program of the Saint Church. These melee mages have a kind of “Charge” ability, called Greller Schritt, which allows them to close with targets quickly and wreck havoc. They can also rappel out of their Carryalls into buildings to clear and capture the target. The Spellblades are truly the perfect urban warrior, though somewhat lacking in training.

Squad size = 10 (9+1 Confessor)

Gunslinger Militia



While these rare individuals are outcasts in wider society, the Saint Church has promised to change that, and created this unit. Focusing on an old Velka martial art known as Gun-fu, these ranged Velka are the rangers and snipers of a force dominated by close-combatants. As we are a mostly-ranged force, and the Gunslingers are harder to come by, taking this type of unit out should be one of the top priorities of a Mid Childa commander.

Squad size = 3 (2+1 Confessor)

Knight-technician



The combat-engineer stratagem of the Velka, a KT is able to make repairs to structures vehicles, devices and knight armors on the fly, and is often deployed together with mechanized units. Unlike their holy counterparts, which hardly number enough to make a company on any planet, KT’s cannot heal people.

Squad size = 1

Red Dragoon



Armed with mass-produced Staves of Onyxia, these spearmen from the 66th AW use the red flames of dragonfire to roast other mages and cook closed spaces, and often aid the Spellblades in urban ops.

Squad size = 6

Persocon Team



Cousins of the Persocon Linda Zwei, these lolis don’t seem like much, they have been called maids with swords after all, but their bite is much more than their bark. Each individual in a squad unit is also equipped with a powerful self-destruct system, which they use in suicide attacks when the need arises.

Squad size = 5.

Silent Trinity



Little is known about these Trinities, but I’ve managed to turn out that these are Trinities that have perfected the art of Gun-fu AND stealth, and are collectively under Saint Church’s Inquisition Charter. Knowing how to fly is another pre-requisite for inclusion into this shadowy unit.

Squad size = 3.

Trinity Optimum



These are the best of the best, equipped with the best equipment and are so hard to come by that usually only one is available per battle force. Of the standing Regional Guard on Mid Childa, there is only one such unit, and it’s the most famous of all: The 21este Dreikeiten Optimum, led by the Messiah of New Velka, Kha der Kleriker.

Squad size = 5 (3 + 1 Confessor + 1 Tsukaima)

Armor

Aibamashin Attack Bike



Hailing from the 36th AW, Meros, these Meros Warriors are known for their collective ability to hear the “Melody of Oblivion”, a song that is sung by the God Empress on her Golden Throne lost somewhere in space. While they are armed with swords that can morph into longbows, these Meros Warriors can also take to the skies and challenge our airborne units, for their Aibamashin can also fly and operate in vacuum and void. However, the protection on this unit is very lacking, and one direct is usually enough to shoot them down.

Like other some of the other vehicular units, the Aibamashin also carries a sensor pod that can be ejected and attached to the ARX-79[G] Avatar arm slaves.

Raven Buggy



These are basic and fast 4WDs that are the preferred ride of the Spellblades and the Gunslingers. Each one is armed with a small caliber Scorpion-2 laser CIWS tuned to fast impulse shots that is effective against personnel and light armored flying craft.

Scorpion-2 Main Battle Tank



Developed on the 37th AW. Moderately armored, but light and fast, these high speed vehicles are much more of large caliber laser guns on tracks than armored tanks. The purpose of existence of these tanks seems to be to serve as mid-ranged mobile fire-support platforms to other frontline units.

Dragon Immolator Tank



Another component of the Velka Armor Divisions, this tank actually came from the days of the Holy Velka Imperium. It has since been upgraded with the latest systems, and with the Immolators becoming detachable to be used by the Avatar, but the essential carriage design remained the same.

While most of the force are merely recycled troops from worlds once under the Holy Velka Imperium, there are some advanced elements that have been developed under TSAB’s noses, right here on Mid Childa.

These are the units currently available to the Velka SAR:

Infantry

As it is with most guerilla forces, the Regional Guard has much emphasis on this arm of a force. Half of the types are legal and approved; the rest either were absorbed from other planets, or were mash-ups of local weekend warriors and reservists aptly called Militia.

Spellblade Militia



An idea first created by a genius, and then was taken up by the Church for wider use. The Spellblades are a mixed-up bunch of Velka warriors operating in groups of 9 unless assigned with a Confessor leader. Essentially, they are well-trained and zealous church-goers who have passed through the rigorous Knight training program of the Saint Church. These melee mages have a kind of “Charge” ability, called Greller Schritt, which allows them to close with targets quickly and wreck havoc. They can also rappel out of their Carryalls into buildings to clear and capture the target. The Spellblades are truly the perfect urban warrior, though somewhat lacking in training.

Squad size = 10 (9+1 Confessor)

Gunslinger Militia



While these rare individuals are outcasts in wider society, the Saint Church has promised to change that, and created this unit. Focusing on an old Velka martial art known as Gun-fu, these ranged Velka are the rangers and snipers of a force dominated by close-combatants. As we are a mostly-ranged force, and the Gunslingers are harder to come by, taking this type of unit out should be one of the top priorities of a Mid Childa commander.

Squad size = 3 (2+1 Confessor)

Knight-technician



The combat-engineer stratagem of the Velka, a KT is able to make repairs to structures vehicles, devices and knight armors on the fly, and is often deployed together with mechanized units. Unlike their holy counterparts, which hardly number enough to make a company on any planet, KT’s cannot heal people.

Squad size = 1

Red Dragoon



Armed with mass-produced Staves of Onyxia, these spearmen from the 66th AW use the red flames of dragonfire to roast other mages and cook closed spaces, and often aid the Spellblades in urban ops.

Squad size = 6

Persocon Team



Cousins of the Persocon Linda Zwei, these lolis don’t seem like much, they have been called maids with swords after all, but their bite is much more than their bark. Each individual in a squad unit is also equipped with a powerful self-destruct system, which they use in suicide attacks when the need arises.

Squad size = 5.

Silent Trinity



Little is known about these Trinities, but I’ve managed to turn out that these are Trinities that have perfected the art of Gun-fu AND stealth, and are collectively under Saint Church’s Inquisition Charter. Knowing how to fly is another pre-requisite for inclusion into this shadowy unit.

Squad size = 3.

Trinity Optimum



These are the best of the best, equipped with the best equipment and are so hard to come by that usually only one is available per battle force. Of the standing Regional Guard on Mid Childa, there is only one such unit, and it’s the most famous of all: The 21este Dreikeiten Optimum, led by the Messiah of New Velka, Kha der Kleriker.

Squad size = 5 (3 + 1 Confessor + 1 Tsukaima)

Armor

Aibamashin Attack Bike



Hailing from the 36th AW, Meros, these Meros Warriors are known for their collective ability to hear the “Melody of Oblivion”, a song that is sung by the God Empress on her Golden Throne lost somewhere in space. While they are armed with swords that can morph into longbows, these Meros Warriors can also take to the skies and challenge our airborne units, for their Aibamashin can also fly and operate in vacuum and void. However, the protection on this unit is very lacking, and one direct is usually enough to shoot them down.

Like other some of the other vehicular units, the Aibamashin also carries a sensor pod that can be ejected and attached to the ARX-79[G] Avatar arm slaves.

Raven Buggy



These are basic and fast 4WDs that are the preferred ride of the Spellblades and the Gunslingers. Each one is armed with a small caliber Scorpion-2 laser CIWS tuned to fast impulse shots that is effective against personnel and light armored flying craft.

Scorpion-2 Main Battle Tank



Developed on the 37th AW. Moderately armored, but light and fast, these high speed vehicles are much more of large caliber laser guns on tracks than armored tanks. The purpose of existence of these tanks seems to be to serve as mid-ranged mobile fire-support platforms to other frontline units.

Dragon Immolator Tank



Another component of the Velka Armor Divisions, this tank actually came from the days of the Holy Velka Imperium. It has since been upgraded with the latest systems, and with the Immolators becoming detachable to be used by the Avatar, but the essential carriage design remained the same.

Spider Stealth Tank



Like the rest of the Inquisition Charter, we also know nothing about this tank, other than its supposed ability to turn invisible.

ARX-79[G] Avatar armslave



The true tank of the Saint Church. It was developed all over Ordered Space, with the 97th NW is suspected to have been one of them, before being put together on Mid Childa. It appears that when the TSAB discontinued its walker development program years ago as we scaled down on conventional weapons, the Church pushed on in the quiet. As such, the Velka SAR has developed bipedal war machines that are more advanced than the Tripartite has ever built. They may be primarily armed with only a vibro-blade, a beam rifle sidearm and a tower shield hardpoint mounted onto their right shoulder, but their Phase Shift armor is next to diamond hard, and their 3rd generation myomer fibers offer superb mobility. Their Lambda field defence systems grant these units even more survivability on top of all that.

It seems that the Ancient Velka Armed Device Laevantine had data sealed within that helped perfect the Arm Slave design.

The Avatars can also be deployed in threes from command ships via drop pods.

Several Regional Guard vehicles are designed to be able to detach a part of them for use of the Avatar out in field. These are the:

- Aibamashin Attack Bike’s sensor pod
- Dragon tank’s immolators
- Spider tank’s ECS camouflage package
- Pegasus artillery’s Spellforce sniper cannon

More are being developed as we speak.

As these weapons are optional systems, the Avatar does not carry them into the field, but when the need arises, these systems can become readily detached from the other vehicles and attach themselves to the Avatar's various hardpoints. Once the vehicle has given up its package, the body pulls back to base to be rearmed.

Artillery

Pegasus mechanized Spellforce artillery



These are lightly armored 6-wheelers that arm a gun that can direct a powerful laser beam that can reach around corners, sweep along the ground and have an effective range of 100km. Several such units can link their beams together to deliver an even bigger charge. The mounted gun can be detached and mounted onto the Avatars, after which the Pegasus pulls back to rearm.

Timespace Superiority Craft

Viper Patrol Craft



Airborne ground support platform and primary aerospace superiority fighter. Often called the X-Wing, even though it resembles nothing of the fictional 97th fighter, save the quad laser armanents. It is armed with quad Scorpion-2 laser CIWS, two turreted on the undercarriage and two fixed just aft of the cockpit, and can create multiple Silhouettes. Against ground targets only 2 guns can be used, but in dogfights all 4 can be shot.

Mantleray Stealth Fighter



Heavy bomber. Armed with ECS, and a large, though slow-reloading, proton energy torpedo launcher that can switch modes into shooting guided mag pulses that can disable structures and de-shielded mechanical units. Has a pair of secondary Scorpion-2 lasers fixed starboard and port of the cockpit, but its more of a defensive measure against other fighters. It’ is deployed to swoop in in stealth, de-cloak, launch the torpedo, cloak and run to safety, hiding until the launcher is rearmed.

Carryall

Standard all-purpose unit courier.

Overhead, several vernier trails of Type-3s storming into Mid Childa airspace and dropped their presents into the perimeter of Ground Central, announcing the beginning of Scagletti’s raid of Mid Childa. More and more Type-3 materialized out of nowhere, and pounded pretty much anything that moved.

Meanwhile, a charred licence plate declaring itself to be SBJ 1345 D lay crumpled on the cracked road. The air shimmered as an invisible object sped off.

It appears we have a case against the meddling Saint Church, General Regius. The self defence proposal being lobbied for by the Church in the Secretariat has been realized without prior approval. Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2 looks like a good candidate. Easy to implement the Hero units. And Kha had unit sizes in his descriptions, so it all works.

Its been a while since I played that game... I dont know if we can mod it.

My favorite RTS right now is Supreme Commander, though. If Total Annihilation was any indication, we can totally create anything we want in SC. The engine works more for high technology factions like Scaglietti's and the Necrons, though.

And lol at Hayate's picture. That means she'll be in the Land Army faction?
