Someone must champion male rights to polygamy and legislate it into law!

I think this can sum up Saber's reaction to Heaven's Feel true end nicely.

Heaven's Feel was only good for two reasons; had increased role for both Rider and Ilya. Other than that, I don't think anyone liked it at all. I just wish they made an Ilya path; I would've loved that one.

Do you guys have any pictures of Gilgamesh from Fate Unlimited Codes? I'm trying to find one but it's impossible. Not the one with his arms crossed, but the one with one hand on his hip and the other hand raised.

I loved it and it's my favorite route, and I don't even like Sakura at all.

Then again, I consider Eva to be the greatest thing ever created by the hands of mankind, so I guess it's just a matter of taste.

If by Eva you mean Neon Genesis Evangelion than I agree that it was a really great show. I don't think its the greatest thing made by mankind, but I did for a few months after I first saw it.

As for Heavens Feel I didn't totally hate it as there were some very cool segments in it. However other parts just didn't do much for me and while I like I just didn't like it overall. Sakura killed a lot of it for me.

Talk for you. Aside from a place that I don't want to name, the route is popular enough, you know?

i personally don't like it because of shirou abandoning his ideals for sakura and the normal ending is better than the true. i would like to get the hero ending. rin was awesome in this route though

I feel that everyone who whines about Shirou abandoning his ideal is missing the entire point of the game.

Shirou's ideals are wrong and dumb, got his dad nothing, and will get him nothing.

The whole self-sacrifice and trying to save EVERYONE thing is nice and all, but it's really, really unrealistic and damning, as both Archer and Kiritsugu eventually discover.

Yeah but that's the point of UBW route. So what if it's unrealistic and damning?

The beauty of that ideal is the reason why it's WORTH CHASING in the first place.

I think it's the same in both cases. The only difference is the words used ("everyone I can see" and "the ones I love"), he is still not thinking about himself and is still willing to sacrifice himself for others. And in all routes he knows he can't save everyone, only the ones he sides with.

In UBW it gave him a beautiful girlfriend, the refining of his ideals, turned Shinji into a nice guy and allowed him to keep his own body and life. Depending on the ending it also allows the continued survival of Saber.

If I gain that by following 'dumb' ideals, then I'll be gladly called an idiot.

The point of the game is not to show how dumb his ideals are, but to show the various choices one can make in life.

No it didn't. Ilya dies and he becomes Archer.

Worth chasing to your own demise? Worth chasing to the point where you sacrifice your own family and your own happiness for an immaterial ideal?

Kiritsugu proved the fatality of that way of thinking.

Yes, this, exactly.

And this is why people whining about how OOC he is in HF are just trying to justify their viewpoint.

Of course, I do the same thing.

And the choices everyone sides with are the ones he makes in UBW. Of course.

I will say that was my least favorite route, in opposition to everybody on the Internet.

I don't know how one is supposed to reconcile the continued idealism of UBW with the cynicism of HF (and Fate/Zero), for that matter. However, unlike most players, I went into the game with the mindset that HF was the True End to the story... and enjoyed it considerably more for it.

But there's no point in arguing in a place where everyone disagrees with me.
