...Doesn't anyone check 3 pages back or something?

Comparing Unicorn to IS text density (around 500 words each):

And what's with the massive typos out of a sudden? Didn't I say that translations will start in August or something? I'm doing Unicorn more as a personal challenge at this point...and if I can finish that, I probably can finish any other series now.

It's called light novel because it's supposed to be much easier to understand, complete with illustration.

Japanese novel is a mishmash of prose and poem.

Well, that's a lot more plot than the previous volumes combined And look, not an interrupted tournament in sight!

I can't believe I still feel dissatisfied with so much amount of plot.

Apparently mood transition fail, this probably last of my complain because

Spoiler for Lol:

Irony much? It could be swapped and less out of place. Tatenahsi as established in v5 is sue enough and it couldn't be worse than Chifuyu doing it outside I.S.

Spoiler for Lol 2:

Realism.... in I.S.....

DOES NOT COMPUTE SEARCH FOR ALTERNATIVE LOGIC

Search Result: Awesomeness ensues, fuck yeah!

Spoiler for Lol 3:

Awesome *Clap-clap*

Imma reading this for the sheer amount of fail and what little epic win in there

Calm down, Senpai. Just give it a chance before ragging on it:/ You sound like Yahtzee with Nintendo.

Eh, no, I am having a hard on on the battle result. Which mean it's good in my opinion.

Which is nowhere as bad as I envisioned from spoiler and images before this.

I don't know if the spoiler understating or overstating things, but until the novel get out, I'll hold into this info and smile like no tomorrow.

The only thing I'm bugging on is the blood coffee thing:/ Seriously, its like Izuru looked at a "How to be badass" book and started writing.

- I think I mentioned it earlier but Light Novels also tend to be more anime-ish/less serious in tone or like Juvenile Fiction/Pulp novels. Well, for a given value of "Serious" as Unicorn is obviously heavier in tone and feel than IS (The author is more of a military/Tom Clancy-esque writer).

I think it's also because the LN genre usually takes itself less seriously--TAMNI for example has a few self-referential/breaking the fourth wall in gags, like:

Stuff like that you couldn't get away with with a normal novel (excepting screwball comedy).

Again, using Horizon as an example (because it's a Light Novel the size of an industrial concrete block)--it's not the word length, it's the subject matter. Which is what differentiates a "Light Novel" (Gundam Unicorn, Infinite Stratos, To Aru Majutsu No Index, Sword Art Online) from a "Proper Novel" (Sentou Yousei Yukikaze, All You Need is Kill, Hard-Boiled Wonderland).

I think it also depends on the writer's style

the term is kind of skewed. Gundam novels tend to be pretty hardcore from what I hear. classifying them LN by content doesn't seem to make much sense.

- No, it actually does---since Gundam is based on an Anime franchise and is generally recognized mainstream to appeal to a certain set of fans. Think of it in these terms: Star Wars/Star Trek/Doctor Who books may be good and very brilliantly written, but they're still Star Trek/Star Wars/Doctor Who books. No matter how good your story is, it's just a hanger-on to a popular franchise. Paid fanfiction, at worst.

Which is why I stand by my Light Novel = Juvenile Fiction/Pulp Fiction statement.

But besides the point: There is no argument at all that Is ISN'T a Light Novel. All you have to do is read through the antics, writing style, etc. It's all unmistakable Light Novel material. Other

The original gundam is a novel as properly written by Tomino

Not really illustrated.

But what hawke said, it's still part of Gundam, part of a larger franchise, an anime franchise. So yeah.
