Episode 1 is out.

Looks like the show went on full farming simulator mode with fantasy elements.

So its a farming sim isekai AND a monster girl harem? Its like someone got chocolate in my peanut butter.

Episode 1 seemed interesting enough to give the series a shot but so far the isekai/fantasy this season seems pretty mediocre. We'll see I suppose.

Seems they're going at a good pace so far, didn't feel rushed or anything. Only thing seemed a little rushed was the discussion with God. Originally, he specifically requested not just a healthy body, but one that would never get sick and as such he was granted immunity from all diseases, ailments and negative status effects. He can get tired or hungry when he's not using the OFT, but that's about it.

When it's not getting run over by a truck or summoned as a hero, it's dying of a terminal illness and getting a new life with cute girls! Jumping straight into things, I see. Also just nice to hear Atsushi Abe .

Wow, that's a lot of girls in this village of all different species and varieties! But all pretty cute! Although judging by the Opening, seems like there's maybe one lizard guy .

Show Hayami as God! I get that it's rough for Hiraku that he died of a terminal illness (such misfortune!), but what about this being "betrayed?" Did this God screw something up? Although man was it hilarious when he had to call the Agricultural God to give Hiraku what he wanted .

Jumping into farming because you've played farming sims and saw an Idol do it on TV? Sure, why not ?

Almighty Farming Tool! Can become any practical tool for farming, is a handy weapon, can level trees in one blow, and potentially helps cultivate whatever plants you need without needing to hunt for seeds !

I like how they're depicting Hiraku's slowly budding village from each step .

So instead of a cute girl, we instead get a dog family! We even get the miracle of birth and puppies! Kuro and Yuki's family is adorable !

Just when you forgot what kind of show this is, we have our first proper girl on her way to the forest Hiraku is in...and she's a vampire !?

Well, beats risking your life day after day fighting monsters! Especially since, if I remember correctly, his illness was closely related to stress and fatigue caused by your typical Black Company abuses. Dude doesn't want to fight monsters and push himself to become the most powerful, he just wants a laid-back life where he doesn't need to answer to anyone.

Also, I like how aside from the female dog ("Snow") the rest are named Black, Black 1, Black 2, Black 3, etc. Dude doesn't have much naming sense.

Is farming really laid back and stress free, though? The suicide rates among farmers would argue otherwise.

I'm going with what he thought, not what's true. People for ages have idealized pastoral life, whether as a farmer, a shepherd, a cowboy or any position that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Never mind that lots of people who actually work those jobs probably wish they could have a "cushy" job just sitting around typing all day. Yeah, farming is back-breaking hard work if you don't have some sort of cheat tool that handles it all for you, but to a guy who'd been worked to a vegetative state in an office it must've looked like a paradise.

I mean, I've seen people say they envy doctors for how much they make and how much respect they get, completely ignoring the gross stuff they have to do, the years of study they need before they can even start, and all the stress from a job where if they overlook something it could spell death or debilitation for their patient.

How is it that CR manages to not get some of the best anime of the season?

This was slow, relaxing and paceful but it was a surprise that I wasn't bored at all.

Pleasantly surprised by the first episode. They tolled away the friction with time/strength hacks to get to the gist of things, while addressing most but what about... issues.

Also the animation quality was pretty decent (some so-so 3d with that watermill, but it was minor).

Definitely on my watch list if they can keep it up to this standard. Was God using iOS or Android?

hmm...
episode 1 was OK i guess, for a romanticised farming & diy show. But yeah, tomatoes are not vegetables. I hope they are not going to answer the question about bestiality and farmers in this show...

For a little more than a century, not ages. In the 19th century and before 90% of the worldwide population worked in farms, doing back breaking work day in and day out. Those living in the city considered it was dirty work done by slaves (before the practice was banned).
So owning a big piece of land with dozens of workers might have been idyllic, working in said land was not; I heard first hand from my grandfather, who stopped doing any physical exercise as soon as he had enough money to stop working in his farm.

I think it was okay, but I have a real distaste for a series to start off with an epilogue scene (dream or reminiscing) because they know they're never going to get to some of this material.

It's bad fanservice for novel readers and off-putting to viewers new to the series.

I feel like we'll at least get to everybody over the course of the show than at the very end like Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World heh:.

I wouldn’t be so sure it can’t reach the “epilogue”. Didn’t see anything that looks spoilerish, just characters and I think the character count could rise pretty quickly. So no, not “show what we’ll never actually show in the season”, but rather “glimpse what will be near the late end because it might be slow at first and give impressions that don’t match what’s coming”.

... Silver Spoon is still the better farming anime, and it didn't need to be an isekai to be interesting and entertaining.

Completely different genre though. Apples and oranges as they say. The very fact that his tool slices through wood like butter and magically makes plants grow just by tilling makes this completely separate. Farming is the motif but with this setup it’s pretty clear you shouldn’t be going in expecting a story that’s actually about farming. Just like a lot of fantasy works aren’t about swordsmanship or politics even though the story is of a sword fighter standing up to a corrupt government or evil nation.

Agreed.

Since he is in the absolutely middle of nowhere and as we learned from the end of the episode, considered to be within the Forest of Death on the other side of the mountains, we know it is more of a 'taming the frontier' type of series than an actual farming one.

Even when you ignore the reminiscing-flavored epilogue at the beginning of the episode that objectively confirms this, we can see it isn't intended to be strictly farming.
