Hmm, not sure if this is in the right thread...
Calling my fellow Singaporeans! Does anyone know any good brick-and-mortar shops that allow customers to place import orders for the music they want? You got it right, offline. Online is not an option for me.

Japantown in SF has a shopping center (yes, the with Benny Hanna) and upstairs, there's a music shop with all J-pop & K-pop. Also, the bookstore has a pretty nice music section as well.
If you're in San Francisco, that's where you go! |

Several possibilities for j-music depending on where you live. In the States, you might try Borders, Kinokinuya Bookstores, Music Millenium (Portland, OR), or your independent music dealer (if there are any left).
I have no idea why someone might think there's a limit on repeatedly importing an album into the US. That said, about half my j-music purchases are through cdjapan.co.jp --- the rest via Kinokuniya or local music shops that specialize in music. People who shop at Target or Walmart deserve the kind of music they sell there

I read a while back ,on another music forum that someone on that forum said that the law only allows you to import one copy of a selected work, however since idon't no where this info came i have no idea if this person was telling the truth or not.

well.. another example of why its too easy to get on the Internet - they really pulled that one out of their nether regions
I've never seen any reference to a any law/regulation concerning that for individuals and if you think about it, it fails to even make sense from a trade or enforcement standpoint. Can you imagine the logistics of trying to enforce such an absurd rule? The border people can't even get enough funding to inspect more than a small percentage of huge tanker shipments much less individual parcels from Japan. And then they'd have to know you'd ordered the same thing previously --- it makes my head hurt just thinking about it. From a trade standpoint, there isn't any rationale for such a restriction. You're ordering from overseas because no one bothers to carry it locally. Order away! (wanders off to order fourth copy of the ZONE collection for a gift to a friend).
