the manga material is lacking and that itself caught my attention when they say a season 2.

The Saki team started Studio Gokumi (A-Channel), so that might be the best company to contract. |

I don't think that's been confirmed anywhere. It just calls it a "New TV Anime Project". It could be a sequel, a prequel, a sidestory/spin-off, or anything. At this point, we don't know. I highly doubt they'd remake it, because the first season sold well enough, and there's little point re-animated a tournament when the whole thing was already done well enough (and all the match results are already known).

Discussions on the baidu saki board doubts a real season 2 as well. I've been following the manga and really, there's not much material to last even one cour.
More details will be gladly welcomed as to what they are planning. If anything, just a voice cast list will satisfy me. Between season 1 and now, there are lots of new and upcoming seiyuus. Just knowing who will voice who will be orgasmic enough for me. |

I still doubt it'll be a continuation from the first season given the current lack of material.. What I do hope it is about Saki's family and their past.. Someone told me recently that there was a drama CD on Saki released in 2007.. In the drama CD, Saki and Teru is discussing about their parent's separation and at this time, Saki and Teru are very close. Teru is talking about moving to Tokyo(to live with her mom) and also teach Saki the meaning of the "Rinshan Kaihou"(Btw, Teru's VA for this drama CD was Yui Horie). So hopefully the drama CD get turn into an anime and we get to know about Saki and her past.. Still regardless of what the content of the new season is, I can't wait for it.. |

They can still do filler like in season 1 and I did enjoy those filler. But their is really nothing to filler if they already had a training camp. Only left is the tournament which is still in the early games.

They could very well have this season all filler, some side tour and slice of life nonsense again and leave the big tour for later. But the chance of them going with anime original for the big tour is possible, I'd guess that probably won't sit well with some manga readers but I'd be ok as long as they put as much thought into the AO stuff as they did with the 1st season. Atm just waiting for my Nodoka-chwan~!
