Yes. You'll notice that in the fic he used an ability to split Star Caster into a bow. He's the sole owner of a new (okay, maybe not new considering it has been thousands of years since its inception) system called the Universal Weapon System, or UWS for short, that goes on the forearm, the result of months of dedicated research with his legion prior to his retirement from Brain Burst. It was originally made for mass production to revolutionize the way Linkers fight, but he left Vise to oversee its mass production before retiring. Vise had always secretly hated everything the Orange King stood for and this hate clouded Vise's judgement. To Vise, the UWS represented the Orange King's hopes and dreams for the future. As a result, before any mass production could start, he (quite foolishly) destroyed the blueprints for the UWS and had all of the researchers involved executed, thereby rendering the blueprints permanently lost.
Equipping the UWS grants the user 2 additional weapon slots, 1 for a firearm and another for a melee weapon. Both slots are on an axis joint, allowing the user to change from close-range to long range instantly. That's not where its versatility ends, however. Certain melee weapons unlock new weapon types, though this is really dependent on your creativity. For example, equipping a sword offers you the option to use up your special gauge and split it in half to form a bow. Alternatively, you can unlock the swivel joint and allow it to spin freely, effectively forming a chainsaw that can act as a shield. An interesting thing to note is that the Orange King wears his UWS on his left forearm, thus betraying the fact that he is a southpaw. Orange is supposed to convey a sense of freedom and versatility and that was how I felt it best represented, along with the Indirect and Long-range properties it entails. Nothing is set in stone, though. If you have any suggestions as to how to balance it better if you feel that it's too OP, do let me know. EDIT: Left out the abilities his Avatar was born with. He suffers from mild split personality disorder in real life. As a byproduct, he is able to split into a Red avatar and a Yellow avatar, each with their own specialties. It's not used often though. Doing so would risk aggravating his condition, and upon splitting it's extremely difficult for them to render as a whole again. Last edited by Orange Duke; 2012-08-01 at 09:30. |

That said, I've no idea what Gold is beyond Yellow + Metal. There's a hint of red, but I don't know if that counts. I saw that and thot it was a wolf

Here's a colour chart for those who need help with their avatar attributes. By the way, Babylon, here's a scene from the manga that very subtly talks about the attributes for a gold linker. It's partially hidden by the text but you should be able to make it out as "Excellent Denfense" http://c.mfcdn.net/store/manga/8517/...ld_c04_044.jpg |

Though, the attributes of Duel Avatars that are Metal Color are influenced by the qualities of that type of metal...which has been pointed out in ep 7. Quote:
I'll be making full use of the advantages and disadvantages (some of which can be a plus) of gold's properties for Gold Vixen Here's something out of wikipedia: Spoiler for about gold:

Well, do remember that Gold is at the specialised defence end of the metal spectrum so it will be weak against physical and other conventional types of damages, much like Silver Crow.
EDIT: Also, MeisterBabylon, you might want to change the name to Gold Cub or change his attributes, as Golden is a colour while gold is the metal. Last edited by Orange Duke; 2012-08-03 at 09:42. |

I find this quite strange. What kind of excellent defense is weak to punches?
That said, Golden Cub's [Memoriam Eternal] should cover for this weakness. Just need to get it into practical usage... *scribbles*

I think Kuroyukihime explained to Haru that Silver has resistance to "Cutting" and "Piercing" type of attacks. But well, I don't think Silver Crow can't be used as an example for Metal Colors His armor is frail to probably lighten him for speed and flying. Quote:
...cue a Duel Avatar with "Mercury" in its name. The first thing that comes to mind is..."Mercury Pain"...sounds like a nasty antagonist Also...I did some digging into AW's manga, and it seems the translation is slightly incorrect. Here's a clipping of that page: It doesn't say anything specific about gold, just Metal Colors in general

As for Gold vs Golden: I'm a little messed up, and it doesn't help that the Metal Color chart is written in crazy english.
Gold attributes are closest to what I have in mind: excellent defense, gear-centric, fitting on a boy who has nothing but desires all the world. The chart also says left has high special attack? I think? Which again befits Memoriam Eternal. Golden however comes from the card name which gives Golden Cub his leonine form, girth, and emphasis on hot-swapping Enhanced Gear stored within Memoriam Eternal. So, I don't know which is appropriate.

FlameSparkZ: Not necessarily. The weakness to impact attacks might come from the fact that pure silver is extremely soft and malleable, though it's strange why silver is weak to corrosion when that's the opposite in real life. I don't think the attributes are based on the real life properties of the metal they are tied to. While silver was vulnerable to electric attacks because it is a good conductor of electricity, it's strong against heat-based attacks, even though it's a good conductor of heat.
MeisterBabylon: Well, at the end of the day, MtG card naming conventions should stand secondary to what is considered "correct" by canon, but it's your character, so just go with whichever you feel sounds right. |

As for fire, I think the meaning of fire damage is "burn" and not melt. When he fought Scarlet Rain, he got caught up in her External Armament's thrusters, but didn't get any damage because he didn't get burned, it was just hot. So...yeah, I think the metal color's attributes are based on real life's.

Strange. The anime contradicts itself. Ep 2 says that silver is weak to corrosion.
I see now how silver's good conductivity against heat helps it against heat attacks, though. A good conductor generally transfers heat away from itself and into the surroundings, thus it does not stay long enough to burn the avatar, wheras a good conductor of electricity means low resistance, allowing a larger current to flow through. Still doesn't explain why silver is resistant to cutting and piercing though. |

Sorry about that. In most games, corrosion is classified as a poison-type attack, so I kinda went "auto-pilot" when I answered that
