Most Senki have the MC as the chief strategist so his role is too different than other lords
If the MC is a single baron then it probably qualifies

Cobra kind of fits, but the organization is more or less an adventurer guild and it's half sci-fi half fantasy. Gate has some guy from the military investigating a fantasy world. In Shingeki no Kyojin you see a bunch of recruits rising the ranks. Claymore is the story of some random foot soldier of an organization completing missions. Full Metal Alchemist starts out as some dude working for the military, but we all know how it ends. Tales of Vesperia (Movie) is basically some recruits in training, but it's just one movie and you're expected to play the game if you want more of the story, which I never wanted, the movie is awesome enough as it is.

Then I'm out of good anime to recommend. I could take a look at anime I think are shit and fit your criteria, though. Not sure if that would be helpful or not.

well there is Busou renkin, MC is rather special though but technically he fit the bill. The legends of heroes also kind of fit, with Estelle being bracer, Lloyed being police, and Rean being an officer and teacher, it's a game though but they got good story. Now we are talking about game, the anime series of Sakura Taisen fit the bill perfectly as MC is an officer. There is also Garou series but they are more like solo mercenary.

And there is Heavy object, God i can't believe i didn't mention that, but well since we exclude mecha ......... And Accel world kind of fit too, but MC is again, quite special, but not the game breaking level yet.

Now that we mention it, Golden Kamuy kind of fit, Sugimoto didn't seem like a leader anywhere near Asirpa level

really, i remember the biggest cheat is the mecha though, can used literally all other weapon and god know what happen if he used 2.

Accel world is ok though, i found the hate on SAO rather irrationally, it has it issues, but i'd still say SAO is miles ahead many other stuff out there. Though i'd rate it ok to good story at most though, it's not exceptional at all.

Witch hunter is fitting pretty well. But the latest developments kind of breaking that. And now that we are talking about witch hunter, i'd say Gantz fit this very well

What about Kusuriya no Hitorigoto? Main heroine Maomao got sold to royal harem as maidservant because... reasons. With her knowledge of medicine and poisons she manage became harem doctor assistent and eventually Emperors favourite consorts servant and food taster. Currently she is already free but still work ass court doctor assistent with several other noble ladies.

It's not isekai though.

If non-isekai are fair game there is always Library Wars

Pumpkin Scissors is also pretty solid (manga more then anime). It takes place around pseudo post-WW1, with tanks being considered most potent weapon on surface of planet. MC is basicaly experimental superhuman who re-enlisted to army to serve under young idealistic and strongheaded Heroine in military branch that deal with war damage and tries fix it with various results.

Isekai Yakkyoku borderline qualify. Pharma got lot of freedom to do own stuff, but pretty much all his projects are financed by Empire, when Empress call he came running. If he re-invent something he always have to present it to her first and she can also can order him to get married too.

No duty or responsibility is quite stretch but I can see where this argument is coming from.

By quite stretch I mean:
1)He has duty attend Empress her sons health
2)He got strong-armed into becoming university dean, which come with fixed schedule and director who does not let him of hook just because he is technically god (or his kid).
3)As mentioned before leaving behind offspring is apparently is his duty, whether he like it or not.

Still not wrong, he has lot of freedom.
