Yeah, count me as someone that can't quite believe he's watching middleschoolers rather than highschoolers, but I can roll with it too. Good to see Hatanaka in another role, this time not quite as hotblooded.

Well, to be fair, they are jocks. You see baseball boys in Koushien sometimes who are like 6'2", 200 pounds - and there aren't a lot of Japanese guys that size. But yes, they do look a lot more like high schoolers than middle schoolers - which seems to be a pretty common theme in baseball series.

I guess I only have the attention span nowadays for one sports show in a cour, and to be honest I'd rather watch Days over this. Was falling asleep around the time they came to the grandpa's house; there's just no excitement for me. Will see what happens in a couple more episodes, but I'm really not holding my breath.

Episode 2:
Another wonderful episode. To me, Harada is a complex character. He has a reserved personality with a bit of ego but also seems to be kind at heart especially to those who he cares about. I think he really takes baseball too seriously though he needs to drop his attitude if he wants to make a good impression at school. Really hope Seiha can get into some team in the future as he has potential.

I'm enjoying this series, though there seems to be a lot of faux drama. But I'm really liking it, comes off as much more mature than most sports anime out there. And yeah, I have trouble believing we're dealing with 13 year-olds.

This is not a sport series but a drama series, so yeah, anyone that expected this would be an awesome baseball series with all the intense baseball matches can drop this right now lol I'm loving the series so far for all the realistic teenager troubles.
I'm sure many people gonna hate Harada after this episode lol (*whisper* 4chan) Is it just me being odd here that I start loving him after this ep? After this ep Im sure this is 12 years old that we are talking about, even though the voice and design don't match at all at this age, we start to develop the sense around the world, start to be more perspective and sensitive to all the things we experience through 5 senses. Harada's problem here is not really about him being too serious with baseball, but he being pressured by people who blamed him for something he cant help. It is not his fault that Seina wants to play, or Kou wants to continue his baseball. Yet, people are saying it is his fault and he needs to take responsibility. I can totally understand the pressure Harada is feeling and the breaking point at the end of this ep makes me cry, although it may be just because I was in the same situation as him, being pressured by my family and people, at that time I was only 11 years old and I can't even cry as honest as Harada, seriously. So I really appreciate the last scene, showing Harada's breaking point. Have to admit that it gonna be difficult for people who didn't experience this type of pressure to understand him though, so calling him an "arrogant bastard" is totally understandble. |

Episode 2:
If Seiha wants to play baseball, let him have it and who gives a damn if he's weak! On the other hand, Takumi made a fool of himself by rushing into things only to fall down to the lake. I think he should be calm at all times 'cause it'll affect him mentally, especially when playing high-stakes games. Maybe in the future, partnering up with Gou would change his personality. |

I don't think Seiha's the only one with a potential illness. That last interaction between Takumi and his mother suggests that Takumi had also fallen extremely ill once, and the scene suggests it could happen again. Also, I noticed how Takumi quickly clutched his right arm right before he fell in, and then the scene later focused briefly on that arm/elbow again when Seiha grabbed him. I wonder if that's a hint that something is not all that right with Takumi, either.
Certainly a different feel from Ace of Diamond; Takumi being the opposite of Eijun. But interesting nonetheless.

We did see Takumi's hand twitching in the first episode, so it could be he's been overstressing that arm. His grandfather refused to teach him the sinker because it could damage his elbow, so that's probably related.
I am starting to wonder if Seiha genuinely has some condition, or whether their mother is just over-protective. |

Episode 3:
Interesting episode, we got Takumi debuting at school and although I think he has decent pitching skills, he really needs to get a better attitude. The way he talks to his coach has a lot of ego. And in a way, Takumi thinks that he'll still get to play his way because the coach wants to win. Well yeah, with the way he talks to his friends and family, not many people will like him that way. Gou and Takumi has one of the most complex relationships so far imo this series. I want to see how much further that develops. In the meantime, I'm also curious about that vice captain on the team.
