Osananajimi NEVER wins against sudden special (vampire/demon/robot/alien/angel/goddess/dragon/curse/soda pop/catgirl/doggirl/lab experiment/some other special attribute) girlfriend that ends up living in the house of main character (who's parents are always away on business trips) and transfers into the main character's class then she does something intimate to the MC (because she lacks common sense being an other worldly being) which spurs the envy of the rest of the boys (WE HATE YOU MC).
Oh and sudden girlfriend ends up sleeping in the same bed as MC with the MC completely unaware until he wakes up with his hand groping the half-naked sudden girlfriend. Then the osananajimi walks in (cause the MC needs to be woken up by the osananajimi) and half the time (depending on the osanajimi archetype... usually tsundere) beats up the MC for doing something indecent despite wanting some MC's dick. |

Actually there is a pretty well known example of an osanamiji winning in pretty much EXACT the same situation that Morisato described. No anime for it though. Though when I think about it the other girl could be counted as a childhood friend as well.

Sorry for bumping an old thread. DragoonKain3, could you please post some updates to the list, if there have been any recent animes about childhood friend romance? I am not very good at identifying them myself, as the descriptions on internet don't always have the words "childhood friend" in it, so they don't show up in the search results.
P.S. Could you please check you PM box? |

Sorry for bumping a year-old thread, but I really wouldn't like this topic to die completely, as I am a big fan of this kind of romance
I am posting here a list for years 2010-2012 DragoonKain3 provided in another thread last year: Quote:

I don't see Cross Game, the winner of the AS Choice Award for Best Series of 2010, anywhere in those lists. By my reckoning it belongs in

Little Busters is not a definite win-- it's at best implied, unless one considers the strongest pairing is....
Spoiler:
Anohana is also implied at best. Also, I'm not really sure how Nanoha season 1 can count for an win in anything, though it does make sense for Strikers with Spoiler:
Also, does Yosuga no Sora get a 2x win due to omnibus format? The popularity of this really throws in a wrench. Finally, Hana Saku Iroha is a clear, definite win. There's simply no other reasonable interpretation.

A few critics:
There are more than ONE type of childhood friend: full-fledged childhood friend, girl/boy of promise, girl/boy of the past, and a 'former' friend/acquaintance. - A full-fledged ones, is unarguably a childhood friend. They're at peers age, met at elementary school (or even at kindergarten) and they grew up together all they way up to highschool or even after that without 'being separated' plot device. This kind of childhood friends are the ones which almost never wins. And has become some sort of running jokes in the industry. I dunno, maybe because they symbolize 'safe zone' for the MC, while most of the story is about MC struggles to overcome difficulties and/or overcome their 'comfort zone'. Some examples in this criteria: Manami (Oreimo), Bizon (Buddy Complex), Chiwa (Oreshura), Akiho (Robotics;Notes). - Girl/boy of promise, they did met at childhood ages (brief or longer), made some sort of promise before they got separated, and once upon a time they reunited again to may or may not fulfill their promise. Statistically, this kind of childhood friend has more percentage at winning, heck almost all the time. Some example from this criteria: (Nisekoi), Yozora (Haganai), Fuyuumi Ai (Oreshura), - Girl/Boy of the past, basically the second criteria without 'the promise'. E.g: Kashiwazaki Sena (Haganai), Himeka (Oreshura), (Myself;Yourself), (Yosuga no Sora), - Former ones, very rarely used. The only one I can think is 5 centimeters per second. Yes, childhood friend who got separated but never reunited again. Edit: or being reunited again but not as a 'friend' or any form of intimate relationship (as a complete stranger (Banri & Linda) or enemy (Yomi & Kagura)) So, in this regard. Isn't it easier to breaking down for more specific category rather than piling it up in a single bowl? Last edited by all_flying; 2014-04-14 at 05:59. |
