As far as I'm concerned, all the changes and original scenes included during the first episode have been positive.
Not only did they re-arrange some parts, the battle itself was essentially new to the anime, since none of the supporting characters who interacted with Joseph are from the manga. I liked that Viv was introduced right from the start too, which is an interesting choice. What Taniguchi and Kurata, who is actually writing this after all, want to do is create an experience that will be different from simply repeating the source material. I think they have been very transparent about this, and even Ishikawa himself has accepted that isn't a bad thing, even if he obviously prefers his own work by default. I do believe that the overall picture will be very similar, but the road to it will probably take a few turns along the way. So far so good. |

Wow, a rare occasion the original portion of the show is not bad, or should I say, made the experience better.
Though, still have some hard time swallowing the change of character design. Oh, and WTF!? at 17 using her villainess voice for the Archangel Michael. Whose idea is this? |

Production I.G. doesn't stint on knowing its details! I wonder which member of English royalty was at the battle (that English flag on the ground were the Plantagenet Arms). Perfectly period, though! Glad to see they showed the Cross of St George (English) and Cross of St. Denis (French) banners as well. Nice collection of pole-arms that Joseph and his buddies were carrying.
Good first episode! I'm enjoying the Maria's character. She's going to turn beet red when she figures out why her succubi's jaw was tired....

Oh, from only the first few minutes I saw of the unsubbed episode, I know I'd like it. Now that I've seen the whole thing subbed, I love it. This is definitely one of my main series this season.

A virgin witch eh? Where's Geralt of Rivia when you need him(any gamers should know who that is). After all, witchers solve problems - not always with a sword. They both hate war so they'd get along perfectly too
On a more serious side this was totally not what I was expecting based on that preview picture but boy am I pleased. Please let this one of those rare gems of the otherwise mediocre winter season. |

Do some of you got a bit dissapointed the English missed a well-executed Feint on the right flank?

Heh, After watching the Subbed one, One of the most fun part is how Maria is sooo oblivious to sexual remarks from her much-more experienced Familiar... |
