All i could think through out the episode is , wtf is wrong with this MC , then it hit me this kid saw his whole class die moved to the boonies where the kids are always nice innocent and gullible on the surface and brought a death game with him. Bro when the first bodies dropped just because they had went to sleep , and then they catch the one classmate in the act and his eyes and face are just wtf I knew id enjoy watching these people break

Must follow the kings orders

Cant leave the game early

Cant sleep deeply ( which is like some freddy kruger shit)

Automatic death for no compliance even if youre sleep

Shitty highschool kids in a life or death situation

Gunna be a good shitty show

Fascinating...

I am indeed intrigued. Never quite run into an MC who knows the game and has played it before and now has to play it again. It will be interesting to find out how he survived the first time.

At first I thought the entire reason he was sad was going to be some cliché reason that we see so often in anime. But to find out that it was because he watched his entire class die in some sadistic game, made you really feel for him. I'm interested in watching more. This isn't like a whodunit mystery. There is no way any person could do all the things as fast and totally as this "King" is able to. Well, I'm on board. I'd like to see how this continues to go.

Also, did I miss it, but can someone explain why the kid at the end was punished? Was beating up other players against the rules?

Yes. I'd say it's included in the "No unnecessary actions" rule...which is very vague.

Ah, thanks. You're right, I saw that rule but I thought of it as pretty vague and didn't think twice about it. But how does anyone know what constitutes "unnecessary". I mean, I can see a meaningless fight, but what if you just happened to go out for ice cream because you have a craving? It's not technically "necessary" except to the person who is having the craving at the moment.

Ousama Game Shuukyouku or Climax. It's the continuation of the first Ousama Game which Nobuaki is also the MC. I mean, just take a look at the author's pen name. Nobuaki Kanazawa is his poster child.

BTW, about Natsuko, she's hilarious. This anime would be boring if she were in it. As for romance, you'll see in the next episode how that'll turn out.

That being said I marathoned the manga earlier today. - At first the title reminded me of the one with king Noble, citizen and peasant whose name I forgot.

Well having read the manga earlier today I can see what will happen next and sadly can predict the answers to certain things.
That is if something essential didn't change from the first game as displayed in the manga.

Hmmm, that was alright. Interesting enough to stick around follow for time being.

However this sounds like a game where is no win condition to escape it. As long as he or anyone survives they will be force to continue to play the game with little in the way of relief. Which is down-right horrible. Worse there is clearly supernatural about it, maybe he's just been cursed? Assuming my assumptions are correct.

Somehow, the not-that-good execution & animation severely reduced my enjoyment of this episode. It just felt clunky and more concerned with quickly moving the plot until a certain point rather than embracing the characters first for us to truly root for. Survival anime rely heavily on characters and Ousama seem to already stepping on the gas with the carnage without allowing me to really feel the characters. This is why I missed past thriller/survival/mystery anime like Eden of the East, Another, Fate/Zero, etc where we get to really feel for the characters before real shit hits the fan. Even the dreaded Terraformars anime & DEEN's Fate did a better job at it. This is something the now-airing Fate/Apocrypha also suffers. We mostly just see events happening to the characters instead of experiencing it with the characters.

I'm sure the source material for Ousama is better in executing the story than this episode. Still, so far, this anime feels like Gantz without the fighting action and less proper character introduction.

Aw dang. I thought this was the anime of the other King game where the King is one of the students who for a day has power over everyone below him and can force them to do his orders but there is also a Queen, Knight and such who can rule over those lower then them but the king has to be careful because if a majority mutinies against him he is the one who dies. This is just a blood-splatter death festival with a faceless OP king. :c

Well, this anime surprised with how they cut out a lot of interactions between Nobuaki and his new classmates, his angst, his joy and the classmates' reactions to his early attitude when he transfered until the game started. Thos were in the manga version, so should be in the novel. Also, they cut out the part where the exploded guy searched through his cellphone and deleted the picture of his gf and best friend. That was a very dick move of that asshat.

To be fair though, the manga isn't that good either. Quite a lot of the classmates are ass or idiots compared to the prequel, there are of course nice guys there too. Nobuaki is the nice guy as ever, Natsuko though...

Ousama Game Rinjou is to me the craziest Ousama Game manga I've read. It's the prequel to another MC in Ousama Game Shuukyouku, which is the part this anime is airing currently.

I thought it was Oukoku Game at first too(thats btw the one you meant), then I realized it wasn't and marathoned the manga.

Same here. Which is weird, since the movie isn't nearly as amusing as this one. XD

Me personally, I'm more familiar with the movie adaptation, so I was really confused to see it was Nobuaki who survived and not Chiemi. Meh, not that it really matters.

What's interesting is that one of the orders is for Honda to hook up with some guy named Teruaki, when she fell in love with Nobuaki at first sight. There wasn't NTR in the movie, so I'm surprised it is in here. XD

mmm, not sure what to think. This episode wanted to put behind a lot of points so it kinda throw them at you. I'm expecting the pace to slow down from now.

Still not too fond of the premise. As it is the gore is just ... gore, there's no suspense, you know it will come and when. I prefer horror stories a la Another.

This one, as other posters, reminded me of Mayoiga, or what I expected Mayoiga to be (but it wasn't)

Episode 2 is out.

Natsuko's character change and Daisuke's death. This show's writing is really poor with content like this. I'm actually not surprised that Natsuko's character changed (even the OP song hints it)

Also, I didn't realize that the background story was told like that until they revealed it. I also don't feel anything about Daisuke or in fact anyone in this show at the moment. The cast feels all over the place and none of them stand out for me. Very disappointing episode imo.

He is a part of the prequel, so there was no way to feel his death the way it spread through the manga.
As for Natsuko:
Imho she snapped a bit too soon. Still thanks to that and stuff from the prequel its pretty easy to tell where this is going.
Also why she was so clingy at first.

So unless there is a really good reason for her to have snappeed like that, the Heroine is likely going to be one of the other girls.
Going by cover art the bruenette with the beauty mark.

My other theory needs to wait becasue they decided to sneak in prequel content in this.
