My personal guess is that the CD and WG had Cobra killed. They intended to do the same to Vivi but Sabo got involved. He was likely injured and captured or they thought he was outright killed, like maybe him and Vivi were thrown off Mariejois. Then they pinned the blame on him. That he killed Cobra and then held Vivi “hostage” to get away accidentally leading to her death as well. My guess on what they wanted to silence though was that in the process he managed to kill one of the Celestial Dragons, my guess is Charles after seeing what he did to Kim’s. Perhaps Neptune was killed and the captured Shirahoshi as well for being an accomplice to Sabo. We do know I’m had an interest in both Vivi and Shirahoshi.

The anime is sometimes really frustrating to watch due to all its inconsistencies. Seriously, Sanji, who is only slightly below Zoro in strength, was about even with the traitor? The traitor is now all of a sudden super powerful with an unlimited area of attack spell attack all those ships and men? The escaping enemy ship is now suddenly a long range battleship taking out most of the good guys' fleet single-handedly without anything to counter (hello, cola powered rocket boost Sunny-go)?
Those are all BS events to make the enemy look better than they really are. It is what makes One Piece so annoying at times. Of course, all that was to make Jinbei's entrance all the more exciting. One of the worst kept secrets is finally here, as Jinbei joins the Strawhats. Heck, I absolutely have forgotten why Jinbei and the Strawhats went their separate ways. It has been quite a few years.

The main problem is the people who ignore the part where she literally explains her motive for wanting to be like Oden to force their agenda, it's pretty sickening, especially considering that apparently they are bothering Oda for making it clear that she's a woman.

This is the same kind of archetype as the female knight who claims to have forgone her femeninity so that other kinghts can take her seriously, it's just a means to an end. At best Yamato is just a tomboy, plain and simple.

It was difficult to parse what Oda was going for with her character regarding gender due to three reasons:
Fans differed on the interpretation of the above facts. But ultimately it all comes down to point number 3. For Yamato, being Oden is more important to her than whatever gender she is and calling herself and acting like a male is a means to an end on her fulfilling that ideal rather than her being a trans character; which for the record matched my interpretation of her character but I couldn't be 100% certain until databooks explicitly confirmed this. But reactionaries on both sides are definitely annoying.

Yamato is growing on me. Even if she's a bit off a strange character. But to be fair...so are a lot of characters in One Piece . I'm not sure how I feel about the obsession with becoming Oden. I can totally understand being in awe of Oden's way of life and way of facing death. But it almost seems a bit sad to straight up try to become another person. Such a complete denial of one's own identity. I kind of get it since things were never great living with Kaido. But I suppose if Yamato is fine with it then that's fine.
Honestly what surprises me most is that Kaido accepts that. Seems like the type that would utterly ignore Yamato's decision to become Oden and just continue treating Yamato as his daughter. Maybe he didn't think it was worth the trouble. Anyways, some good stuff in the latest episode. I kind of like that they just had Kanjuro go out like that. No redemption, no secretly actually caring about his former allies, etc. He was just happy to play a role so incredibly well and die the way he did. It's not the stage he thought he would die on when Oden saved him and the others. But it was good enough.

I'm really not sure how to respond to the Yamato stuff. Not even sure how I should consider it. Definitely nothing done with any malice so not like it's exactly identity theft. I guess maybe the difference in wanting to become something or like someone and wanting to become someone.
Even with Luffy saying that Yamato is fine I can't really blame Shinobu for going on the run. Although it is still better to stick around this person since they are strong enough to provide protection. Just have to...ride through the strangeness of this person constantly claiming to be Momo's father. Although really Yamato shouldn't be dumb enough to be confused on why Momo and Shinobu would find this to be a bit much to handle. Milking that situation just reflects the overall position the show is in. It's really gotten close to the source material so we're in the "got to drag out everything" time. Really should have expanded on what they could throughout the arc to give it a bit more breathing room. At least the latest episode was still pretty good. Did all they could with this showdown with Kaido and the Samurai. Even if obviously they aren't allowed to win. This isn't their show .

I watched a "best of Wano" video on Youtube. The animation is definitely a lot better than I remember (dropped around Fishman Island, couldn't take the shitty pace anymore) but when did One Piece turn into DBZ? I laughed so hard watching Zoro vs Killer.

Yes, but Toei is likely to stick filler into it because, as usual, they're too close to the manga. Even so, the fight marks the conclusion of the arc (more or less), and the anime is getting pretty close to that conclusion.

So yeah, it's near the end but you'll still have to wait a while.

Ok, am I supposed to be siding with Yamato or Kaido during this flashback? The guy is evil, but Yamato is kind of full of all over the place at the same time. Crazy babysitting gig for her father's followers.
She wants to be Oden who was her father's enemy. But she's also fine wanting to be treated as Kaido's kid. I suppose kids being completely unreasonable is status quo though. I don't know. That flashback was just kind of weird. At least it let them save the budget for a minute of Kaido and Yamato fighting.
