Now tho I get a bad feeling (lolstarwarsjoke) that this movie is going to feel like Divergence or what ever that horrible Hunger Games Rip Off #5 is called. Hopefully it's good like the actual hunger games..........minus the awful romance... please god...
Well seeing as all the main characters in this movie are probably gonna die, I don't think we have to worry about that, and even if it is like that they shouldn't be in any more movies. Unless they put these characters in the Han and Boba movies.

And it turns out Han's mother is actually from Chewbacca's species.

Someone on the Jedi Council forums posted this version of the trailer interspersed with some footage from the OT and covered with a filter to make it look like it was shot in the 70s/80s on grainy film.

This is *exactly* what I mean when I say I don't like the visual feel/style of TFA and Rogue One. This version of the trailer with a simple filter over the footage makes me feel so much better about the movie.
Just makes it feel like they either used old film or the tape is really old. Otherwise I don't see why slapping an old filter on the trailer makes it feel better. Making it look like an old film isn't the point. Making a film in the proper setting is. It is not like trying to make a period piece from a film era. Its is making a period piece with the correct "historical" equipment on the set.

World War Two films have that problem all the time as we get farther and farther way from the 1940s. Either one has to CG in the proper tanks, or one has to put in something similar...or just enough like it that if you didn't know the exact tank, you wouldn't guess. Otherwise you get M-60s subbing for Tigers or something like that.

My point is that the films have a certain feel to them. It's simply how they look, but what that older film feels like. The trailer just has too clean of a feel compared to how the original trilogy looked.

I won't deny that older films had issues with using the right "equipment," but some of the best WW2 movies are older. Again, they had a certain feel to them that more modern ones don't. Fury did a great job for about 90 minutes and then lost it entirely in the final 30 minutes. Using the right equipment, anyway, really shouldn't make a big difference. The equipment used in Patton is the perfect example of what you just said... yet it's one of the absolute best WW2 films ever made.

Interesting. We'll see what come of some of that.

It seems the new Rebel craft is a U-wing. The new Imperial fighter is a TIE Striker.

Disney is Bringing on Even More Help to Reshoot
Star Wars: Rogue One:

"Disney is bringing on some additional help to work on Star Wars:
Rogue One: Simon Crane, who has worked as a Second Unit Director
or stunt coordinator for such films as Jason Bourne, Edge of Tomorrow
and Quantum of Solace.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Crane’s involvement likely means
that some of the reshoots will involve retouching the action sequences.
Crane is joining Tony Gilroy, who has been brought on to oversee the
reshoots and provide some additional material to the film.

The goal of the reshoots appears to be to convert the film from that of
a war film feel to more of a “four quadrant” movie."

What do they even mean by a "four quadrant" anyway?

Just release the original pre-BS cut on the blu-ray or whatever I don't care. Hype is dead.

The rumor mill to way to out there this time.

What's true and false about the reshoots for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Basically the reshoots were planned in advance, and it isn't unusual nor designed to change what the film is about. The length of the reshoots is so long because of scheduling difficulties due to it being delayed from Spring to Summer.

There's an article from another major Hollywood publication out there that is apparently totally counter to that one.

Than it just becomes a matter of which article you want to believe.

I think the movie will be fine.

Just check the number of weasel words in the "news item" and you'll get a pretty good idea how reliable it is. Any time they use the term "appears to"? You can pretty much stop reading, because it's likely all speculation.

The design of the TIE Striker looks like they mixed the designs of the TIE Interceptor and the Sith Empire's Mark VI Supremacy-class starfighter (link to wikia).

I have to admit I'm looking forward to this movie, though. I really got bored during the Force Awakens and I'd like a Star Wars movie that actually is enjoyable and less predictable.

Still think this would fit better as a Wraith Squadron story than a Rogue Squadron one, but Wraith Squadron in Legends canon doesn't take place for a long time chronologically.
