Are we sure it is Kanae? I've read some interpretations saying that it was "kanai = wife", so Shin's father was saying: "sorry for the troubles my wife caused"... though I never really got the time to verify.

I guess maybe I took the translation that I saw without giving it much thought. I consider myself reasonably proficient in Japanese but very far from being fluent in it. The source that I saw said "Kanae" so I took it as her name but it may very well have been kanai as in referring to his wife.

Don't really care about the name of Shin's mother, but yeah with makeup and everything she qualifies as a milf , especially without that scowl on her face that she used to have.

Anyway, could anyone check on the official website and read to see if it has her name in her profile?

Nope, it's still just Shinichirou's mom. If the anime revealed it, the website should have updated it.
