I was expecting the same thing with the doctor, in fact, I'm still expecting it to happen in future episodes. I found him very creepy and I'm guessing that nice guy act is just a front.

I enjoyed the first episode a lot. I've always add a thing for shows with a narrator (Megumi Hayashibara here !) and the characters seem very promising. I just hope the prison part isn't going to be too long, I'm way more interested in what's going to happen once they get out.

By the way, who's doing the music for this anime? I loved the guitars pieces in this episode.

Currently I'm very influenced by Repo Men, so I'm just gonna call it: he probably needs the boys healthy for body organ trade.

You know that a show is great when it affects you and makes you respond to what is happening to the characters. Through out this episode, I literally cringed and felt for all of the characters, and maybe that was why I felt really glad for them when they had that moment at the end.

Definitely the sleeping hit of this season.

He practically molested them. I don't think he made himself look like a nice guy.

Takami Yuu. Apparently it's his first time composing for an anime series, but he's worked on the OSTs for pretty big dramas like Rookies, Ninkyo Helper and JIN - basically yet another big name Madhouse must have paid for to produce something memorable.

Well, there's that, but he also saved them from the guard twice, saying he won't allow them to be harmed. I think that counts as acting nice, though it's obvious for us that he isn't.

I'm speechless... Sakuragi little talks can make you cry really, its so deep and memorable.
He is really 1st tier of GAR, the man just lose to the Akagi Shigeru on this aspect...
This anime can't even comparable to the rest lineup of this season.

Well, I think we can safely say this is from the non-Ghibli division at Madhouse.

Really intense - that's the best word - first episode. Did a great job establishing the terrible situation the boys were in, and establishing empathy with them. I'm a bit concerned, though, whether things are going to be these bleak every episode - I could see that getting tiresome after a while.

Oh, and as for the doctor - really, was anyone actually thinking he was a nice guy? I didn't even really feel there was a pretense - his actions made it quite clear where his proclivities lie. Sure he yanked on the goon's chain a couple of time before things got too bloody - most likely because he likes his victims relatively unblemished to better got his rocks off with them.

I think it might just be a translation mistake. I can't check the episode, but I think all the narrator said in Japanese was "Impure/improper sexual relations" (fujun seikoui). Can someone check?

If it's really improper intergender relationship, I'm guessing incest, then. The preview talks about his sister.

Honestly, I thought it was a bit overdone. I respect that it takes itself and its subject matter seriously, but at some point it crossed some kind of line and felt like a parody of seriousness. It's probably the narrator. I'll keep watching, but it'll likely continue to bug me in this way.

Watched the first episode and it was great as expected from Madhouse.
Plot, design and characters are interesting and I enjoyed specially the soundtrack.
