Why haven't the demons overrun the Kingdom yet, if the only thing keeping them at bay were the Knights? Or are the demons more intelligent than thought, and they were they planning on creating a Knight Free zone, to build a stable base of operations and a captive population as a beach-head, before dealing the decisive blow?

On another note, the visuals of this show really reminded me of Attack of Titan, for some reason, especially the lighting. |

Great first episode. good characters, solid story, epic fights and all of that supported by thick and dark atmosphere. This season will be twice as good as previous was.

They pretty much rule out kingdom from shadows already. Why they should make it obvious and make people fight back or escape from country?

Also, I hope they would put in the "Where there is light, shadows lurk and fear reigns. Yet by the blade of Knights, mankind was given hope" at some point. I really loved that scene from the series.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition....!
Sorry. I'll get my coat... That was interesting. I'm not keen on the SHINY SHINY cgi as it stands out too much from the rest, but I'll keep an eye on this one to see how it goes for the next few episodes. |

Ep 01
Oh ho? Dark, dark fantasy with demons eating people, controlling a state from the side and preparing the way for their being in charge and snacking whenever they like without fear of reprisal? And the witches and warlocks are the ones who get in their way? Well...could be interesting, but somehow the feel of the series reminds me of warhammer mixed with diablo. Not my kinda thing as far as fantasy genres go. I may give it another ep, though....

That was worthy of the title of Garo. Really awesome. The premise is not all that dissimilar from that of Yami Terasu where Horrors had taken over a whole city from the shadows but this is executed so much better. It's obviously very different from the live action shows since it's set in a different country and era but all the elements that made Garo popular are still there. I noticed they changed the look of the Garo armor compared to the promotional material (it didn't cover the whole body), it looks closer to the live action version now. I like it, though I have a preference for Zoro's armor.
Herman is already looking to be the most badass MOFO of the season, which is actually quite a feat given that this is one of the manliest season we've had a in a while. The action was good. The live action had some pretty crazy over-the-top fights, the anime medium is going to allow them to go even more nuts. Given that Mappa is in charge of the animation, I'm fairly confident it will remain solid. Looking forward to great stuff on this front. The end of the episode was intriguing. The Queen gave her son a medallion with the Garo crest (you can see it on the hilt of Garo's sword and on his crotch), and the horrors noticed that. How is she related to the makai knights? If she knew about them, I would think she would have asked her husband to stop the witch hunt, so it's weird. Maybe it's just a very old family heirloom that was given to them by a previous Garo.

Now as nice as this was it didn't quite standout as well as some of the other openers I've watched. So I'm most likely going to pass on this and leave as backlog plie and come back once this season is done myself. |

My opinion on the series after two episodes:
-Herman is great -Medoza is OK-ish villian, but nothing special -Looks like Emma will be a fun character -Leon is annoying -Alfonso.... Who? Overall, I like it. |

I don't know why, but whenever I hear archaic japanese, it inavoidably spells instant fav for character who speak in it.
Emma is realy fun too I am looking forward to see her again soon, Herman is as great as always and Leon? He should just ditch his Kounibyou act and heal his marks in some red district. Someone will get hurt if he carry like that soon or later.

Really good show. The way it depicts its dark fantasy themes as well as its characters is fascinating to watch. The action is well done despite the CGI. Also, I find the addition of alchemists in the latest episode to be an interesting concept.
The horrors are crafted with decent design to show that they are evil too.
